A Few Magickal Things

Yes!  This is MY cup of apple cider.

It’s in the mid-to-upper 40s here this morning; and even though it’s a bit chilly, that didn’t stop me from going outside on the back porch in nothing but my nightgown to get some cold apple cider from the kettle-that-is-way-too-big-for-the-fridge. It was exhilarating! (both the cold and the cider)

I have discovered this morning that my Samhain Apple Cider is as good cold as it is hot; it’s rather refreshing cold (remember, along with lots of the usual spices, I add peach tea bags to mine). Yum.

These are mine…they could be yours ~
These are a beautiful set of chakra pendulums. I’ve had them for some time now, priced as a set (I won’t break the set up); and they’re being offered at a price which breaks down to about $10 a piece. I won’t go any lower, and I probably should have gone higher. I’ve now put a time limit on them…if I don’t sell them by January 1st, 2018, I’m taking them down, and they will permanently be mine!
This photo is a hot love spell that was underway for a client. I’ve always said that I don’t do spells for people, but maybe that’s not entirely accurate. I have a Candle Altar Service, traditionally called “Setting the Lights”, and I will dress and burn a spell candle for you for your particular intention. I prepare this on a tray, as you see in the photo, with additional herbs, stones, and sometimes some very interesting items added to it. When all is said and done and it’s burned down, I use the remaining candle wax, along with the herbs from the tray, as well as extra herbs and things, and create a mojo bag from the spell remnants that I mail to you. This has been very successful, and I’ve received enthusiastic emails from very happy clients.
PS ~ the stuff I add to the mojo bag will definitely not include the statue that you see in the photo! This has a place of honor on my entertainment center, and it’s raised more than a few eyebrows from guests of varying ages and spiritual backgrounds. If you can’t see it clearly, it’s a couple caught in the rapture of a sexual pose. It’s proven quite effective in spells to produce not only love but some major physical passion as well (she says with a smile).

Candle Altar Service ~ “Setting the Lights”

After years of requests to cast spells for people, of which I always declined, I have decided to offer a “Candle Altar Service”, otherwise known as “Setting  the Lights”.  It can be compared to a prayer vigil.

Is this practice considered “spell casting”?  Yes, it actually is. However, candle magick is such a daily part of my normal life that it feels quite natural for me to take petitions and requests from the public into consideration, adding it to my daily spiritual practices.

altar 3

1.  What kind of candle will I use for this service?

I’ll be using glass enclosed seven day spell candles.  These large candles actually burn anywhere from 5-9 days.  Just as with my other services, candle vigils will be prepared and burned in the order in which the requests are received.

2.  What happens after your candle has burned down?

Once your spell candle has burned down, I will gather the remnants of the candle spell and your petition paper, and I’ll create a mojo bag for you with these ingredients.  You can expect to receive your bag 2-3 weeks after the purchase of your candle.  You can then keep this powerful talisman in a safe secret place to keep the energy moving toward a positive outcome.

3.  What is candle magick?

Candle magick is very simple spell work to aid in achieving a desired goal.  Depending upon your request, your circumstances, and the desired outcome, the color of the candle will be very important, as well as the herbs and oils used.  All candles for the candle vigils will be personally dressed by me for you and your particular situation.  They will be blessed and charged for their special intention.  Also, I’m offering the option of burning more than one candle for a petition.  If you wish, you can purchase a Triple Candle Vigil, and I will burn each candle back to back, in succession, one after the other.

4. What will you need to give me?…Information

Let me know, in a brief note, what you need,  so that I can prepare a petition paper to place beneath your candle.  The information I need should be sent to me in a brief notation.  I can’t use 3 pages of in-depth details.  You will find my email address below to email me the particulars of your case.  It’s very important for you to type CANDLE VIGIL in the subject line to insure a prompt response.

Included in your peitition paper, should be the following ~

A.  What is the situation related to?…love, health prosperity, etc.

B.  What do you want the final outcome to be?

C.  Include your birthdate or zodiac sun sign, as well as the birth dates and sun signs of any other individuals involved in your petition.

(Be precise & concise)

(Be sure to include your address,
so I can mail the mojo bag to you.)

7 Day Spell Candle for Abundant Prosperity

Today  is Sunday, first day of the week; and it is the night of the Dark Moon.  Both imply to me “new beginnings”, fresh starts, the perfect time to begin new magickal endeavors that will build and perk and grow with the coming days of the week,  and with the waxing of the Moon.  I decided to begin on this day a seven day spell candle for “Abundant Prosperity”, not just prosperity, mind you, but “Abundant Prosperity”.  We might as well hit the universe up for some good staunch energy if we’re going to do it at all, sez I.

Here’s how I did it ~

Items needed:
a large flat plate or platter
1 long green taper candle
6 small yellow taper candles (either the really slender ones, or in my case, I used birthday candles)
6 straight pins
herbs…patchouli, allspice, and mint
Prosperity Oil
green or gold glitter
a pencil to carve into your candle
(you can also use a ritual knife, or some other sharp object, but I prefer a pencil)
matches (of course)

The Method:
1.  Use the pencil to carve your name into the long green taper candle, starting at the bottom of the candle and writing up towards the wick (to draw something TO you).  Turn the candle over, and starting again at the bottom of the candle working upwards to the wick, carve the words Abundant Prosperity into the candle.

2.  Put a small amount of Money Oil in the palm of your hand and anoint the candle, beginning at the bottom of the candle and sliding upwards towards the wick (to draw something TO you).  Do this with each of the 6 small yellow candles as well.

3.  Hold the green master candle by the wick with one hand, and sprinkle onto the candle, beginning at the bottom and moving up to the wick, patchouli and allspice.  Next sprinkle the candle with glitter.

4.  Lay the green taper candle down on it’s side and make 6 marks with the pencil or knife along the candle’s length, as evenly apart as you can.  You can use a ruler if you feel the need to be super precise, but this isn’t necessary, you can just eyeball it.  Once you’ve made these marks, push one straight pin into each of the 6 marks.  You’ve now divided your green taper candle into 7 segments.

5.  It’s time to place your taper candle in a candle holder and set it in the center of your plate or platter.  (If you don’t have a candle holder, you can melt the bottom of the candle with a match and set it onto the plate, but I prefer a candle holder for a large taper that I’m going to be burning over the course of several days.)  Take the 6 small yellow candles and melt the bottom, which will allow you to set them firmly on the plate surrounding the master candle, which I did with my small birthday candles, because they are tiny, they stand well, and they are burned up in minutes.

6.  Take the mint and place a line of the herb around the edge of your plate, either in a circle to move the magical energy along, or in a square, which implies that the prosperity coming to you will have substance, stability, and solidity– I like this idea, so I placed the mint around my candles in a square.

7.  Now your plate or platter is all set up and all that’s left to do is to light your candles.  Begin by lighting the 6 small yellow candles, speaking your intentions as you go…”Bring prosperity to me.  Bring Abundant Prosperity to me.  Bring prosperity to me that comes from a happy place.” Use your own words, tell the candles just exactly what it is you want in very specific terms.  Last, light the master candle, still speaking your intentions, letting this candle know exactly what its job is.

8.  Each day, you will let the master candle burn until one of the pins fall out.  When this happens you will snuff out the candle (Snuff, Don’t Blow); and you will relight the master candle the next day, until another pin falls out; and the next day, until another pin falls out; until on the 7th day, the last pin falls.

9.  After the entire green taper candle has burned itself out, you can use the pins to make a mojo bag or a talisman for your prosperity altar.  You can stick them into business cards, you can stick them into real paper money, you can create a mojo bag to keep in your purse or piggy bank.  There are so many ways that you can use these very powerful tools that are now filled with energy to bring prosperity into your life.

By the time I was ready to take this photo, my 6 tiny yellow taper candles surrounding the green master candle had burned completely out.  This is part of a new prosperity altar that I’ve moved into my living-room.  To this altar I added my “Lucky Buddha”, I’ve had him for years, and I love his happy very green energy.  At his feet, are paper play-money bills in each denomination (100, 50, 20, 10, & 5); on top of this paper play money are four real coins in each denomination (a quarter, a dime, a nickel, and a penny).  I will use the coins, along with the straight pins to create a powerful money drawing talisman for my own use.  The “extras” that you see on my altar are my own personal additions to my spell work; the platter and the spell candles are sufficient for the spell itself, and if you don’t want to add anything else, you will be magically set with that.

Candle Magick

1

Magick…it’s as easy as striking a match and lighting a candle– it is, really. It’s called ‘candle magick’, and there is a rhyme and reason behind it.

(I know, this post might be boring for all the practicing witches out there who do this type of magic all the time, those who’ve done it for years, those who can do it blind-folded. But there are so many new witches on the horizon, so many emails and questions coming in, bear with me– and definitely feel free to leave your own advice in the comments below. Everyone has their own little way of doing things, everyone has discovered magickal little tweaks that work for them, there is a gazillion ways to do magick. Pass your information along.)

FirstIntention

What do you want? What are you trying to change? What’s your magickal intention?  You have to know; you have to be specific; you have to have thought this out, have it squared away in your head.   It has to be strong and definite in your mind, or you will not be able to successfully move the energy along to manifest this intention into the world.

SecondCandle Color

Once you definitely know what you want, what you’re trying to accomplish with this magick, you have to decide on what color of candle you’ll need.  This is important.  The color of the candle is associated with very definite images, intentions, magick; connected even to the elements (earth, air, fire, water); connected to the planets (astrological/magickal associations).  Everything is so connected it’s unreal; most people have no idea.

Red Candles

For the element of Fire, for the planet Mars– it’s all about hot sizzling passion, whether your intention is for physical passion with a prospective mate, or just that wild over-the-top passion for justice or a particular cause.  Red candles will create the kind of energy that moves things along like gang-busters.  Think of those phrases:  “too hot to handle”, “red-hot”, “I’m seeing red”; there’s a reason for these confirmations.

Green Candles

For the element of Earth– health and money, two basic necessities of life.  Face it, you won’t be living very well if you don’t have enough of either one.  The green candle for planet Earth– Mother Gaia, the embodiment of our world, a metaphor for the Mother Goddess, representative of our physical world (our bodies).  Just as people of other spiritual paths request healing and prosperity from their god(s), so the witch turns to divinity, but in her case, it’s not a request, as divinity is part of the witch and the witch is part of divinity.  It’s a different relati0nship within the metaphysical realm.

Yellow Candles

For the element of Air, for the planet Mercury– communication, creativity, mental endeavors. it’s all about pure thought, our mind, that intangible part of ourselves that make us who we are.  Those cliques that are coming to me right now: “thoughts move mountains”, “what we think is what we are”.  The mental aspect of us is the most powerful, some believing that it embodies our soul, our spirit, that which will survive eternally.  It’s also about communication– communication with other human beings, with divinity, with ourselves.  Use the yellow candle when you have something to say, something that needs to be heard.

Blue Candles

For the element of Water…light a blue candle to invoke the Goddess, to enhance your dreams and intuition.  Use the blue candle to come to terms with your emotions, for understanding, for resolution, for enhancement.  The blue candle for the heavenly body, the Moon:  pagan spirituality, the goddess (all three aspects), magick, blessings, running with the tide (waxing and waning– drawing in, sending away).  Use the blue candle for women’s issues, with the knowledge that you are tapping into something indescribably ancient and indescribably wise.

White Candles

You can use a white candle as a substitute for any other color.  But the white candle is also used particularly for cleansing and purification.  Use a white candle for House Blessings, or for cleansing any space.  Use a white candle for invoking and honoring divinity.  Use a white candle for pure energy.  Use a white candle for inspiration, for clarity, for peace.

Black Candles

The black candle, for the planet Saturn…use the energy of this candle to return-to-sender negative energy, bad thoughts, curses, ill-wishes sent your way.  Use the energy of the black candle for retribution and justice.  Use the black candle to catch the bad guy, to banish something (or someone) nasty.  Use the black candle to regain personal power taken from you through injustice.

3

The following information is a paragraph taken from my online book, “Natural Magick the Gray Witch Way”:

You can work with tea candles, votive candles, pillar candles, or hoodoo seven day candles.  You’ll allow these spell candles to burn themselves out at one sitting, or you’ll light them at appropriate times over the course of a period of time. You will save the wax from these candles to be used in mojo bags; you’ll bury it; throw it into running water; or toss it in the trash. You will prepare these candles to work their magick when you anoint (dress) these candles with a variety of magickal oils– or a little olive oil, if you don’t have a stock of magickal oils on hand.  You will use your athame, or another sharp object, to carve into the spell candle the name of your target, sigils and symbols relating to your intention, or designs of your own creation. You will roll these oiled candles in a variety of pulverized crushed herbs depending on your intentions and the desired outcome you wish for your magick.

Friday’s Magick: Finding a Lost Friend

As I’m getting older, I find I’m becoming more nostalgic, often thinking about people whom I haven’t seen in years, or decades. If you’ve had someone on your mind, whether a childhood friend, college classmate, or old beau, and you have no idea how to get in touch with them, here’s a spell for you…

Day: Friday (relationships)
Planet: Venus
Moon Phase: waxing to full (to bring that which you desire to you)
Colors: pink and green

Items needed:
1. an image of the target, or a name paper
2. a white or pink candle
3. command and compel oil
4. drawing powder
5. a fireproof container
6. pink silk bag.
7. Optional: any memorabilia connected to the target

The Method:

1. An image of this individual would be ideal, but if you don’t have access to this, create a name paper for them. Do this slowly, deliberately, lovingly, calling their name and asking them to come to you with each letter you write. For added magickal momentum you can write their name in the witches’ alphabet.

2. Anoint a white or pink candle with command and compel oil and roll it in drawing powder.

3. Place the spell candle in a fireproof receptacle for burning. (Emphasis on ‘fireproof’.) I use my cast iron cauldron.

4. If you have retained any mementos from this individual, such as jewelry, buttons from their clothing, tickets from a concert or movie which you both attended, etc., place these items on your altar, near the candle.

After you anoint and dress the candle, light it, and set the image or name paper on fire in its flame. Drop this into the cauldron with the candle, and allow the candle to burn itself out.

Gather the cooled remnants of this spell together; place them in a pink silk bag; and sleep with this charm beneath your pillow for seven nights.

Within a moon phase, you should be reconnected with this individual; and this often comes about in strange and completely unexpected ways.
