The Things We Do for Love n’ Money

The introduction to Part 4: Magick for Love n’ Money, page 146, in my book:
Natural Magick the Gray Witch Way @ Amazon

Two things in this world that most preoccupy our minds and determine the quality of our existence are love and money.  We can’t survive without one, and we don’t want to live without the other.  But even in the midst of working magick to bring love and money into our lives, we self-consciously feel the need to temper this desire and our magick with self-imposed restrictions:  “This spell is not to make you rich…“; “It’s unethical to target a particular person in a love spell…“; “Only ask for the necessities…“.

In the midst of the magick, we feel compelled to hold back, whether through societal conditioning or mainstream religious influence.  It’s only when the witch can step beyond these boundaries — into the realm of the Wild Woman, the wizard, the world of infinite possibilities and unbridled occult energy — that she can throw restraint to the winds and attain that which she truly desires and deserves.

Use the correspondences in this section to bring into your life riches that will heighten your existence and love that will take your breath away.

If you don’t already have a copy of this book, click on the link at the beginning of this post to purchase your copy at Amazon — in Print or Kindle.

Of all the books on spells and potions and foot stompin’ magick I’ve written, this is my favorite.  It’s absolutely filled with magical gems rooted in hoodoo and witchcraft.  It’s also the book where I’ve been the most open and frank when it comes to discussing several hot-topic issues in our occult circles that trigger some people.  If you agree with my philosophy and perspective, yay!!, you’ll love this book; and if you don’t — then write a review, let’s hear your perspective.

Sweet Dreams Spell ~ Green Witchcraft Grimoire

One of the most popular spells is a spell to enhance your dreams and protect you from nightmares . That’s why I included this spell titled “Sweet Dreams Spell” in my new book Green Witchcraft Grimoire:

[excerpt] “Dreams have always fascinated human beings, and along with the fascination comes magical ways of controlling, filtering, or even producing and enhancing them. From the familiar dream catcher used to filter nightmares from positive dreams, to the more mystic use of ritualistic herbs, the means and ways to experience this mysterious inner world has never ceased to inspire us…”

There are tons more spells and exercises included throughout Green Witchcraft Grimoire, so if this one looks useful, take a moment to pre-order your copy on Amazon!

Florida Water Recipe

Does anyone need a recipe to make their own Florida Water?  Yes?… Well, here it is:

Two cups of vodka or any alcohol of your preference
Two tablespoon of orange flower water
6 drops of essential oil of bergamot
6 drops of essential oil of rosemary
6 drops of essential oil of lavender
6 drops of essential oil of rose attar
3 drops of essential oil of sage
2 drops of essential oil of neroli

Mix all of these ingredients together and let it sit for a couple days.  Note that you can adjust any of the essential oils, strength-wise, to attain a scent that is to your liking.

If there’s anyone reading this who doesn’t know what Florida Water is used for, it’s mainly for cleansing and protection, but there are other uses I’m going to list below.  There is a company who produces a marketable brand of Florida Water, and you can find them online easy. (So I’m going to be lazy and not go searching for it right now.)

Here’s a list of uses for you, but that’s not saying that some of you might not think of a few new ways to use Florida Water:

1. Cleanse your house by adding salt and Florida Water to a bucket of water and mop the floors.
2. Cleanse your magical items and crystals with a cloth and Florida Water.
3. Cleanse your altar and your magical space before casting a circle.
4. Provide it as a thank you gift to the deities or energies you’re working with.
5. Use it in your bath by adding a few drops in the water to cleanse your aura and rejuvenate the senses.
6. Put Florida Water in your palms and clap them to raise vibrations and to give you a quick energy boost.
7. It can be used in your rooms for a Happy Home and to combat melancholy and depression.
8. Florida Water can replace Holy water in magical practices and rituals.
9. Add Florida Water and Van Van oil together in order to attract better clientele.
10. Use it to dress candles for magical spells and rituals for Protection, Communication with Spirits, Cleansing and Breaking Hexes, and to remove malevolent magic.
11. Add a few drops to a bottle of ink and use it to empower your written petitions.

Oils, n’ Potions, n’ Powders ~ Oh, my!

Below is a list of magickal oils, potions, n’ powders you can find at my website, The Witch’s Corner ~

Health & Healing Oil

This ointment is used to “dress” candles used for healing or to maintain continued good health.  Annoint a green candle with this oil for healing of the body; a yellow candle for healing of the mind; a red candle for the physical healing of the reproductive system– a yellow candle can be burned along with the red one for mental healing of sexual abuse victims.

Exorcism/Purification Oil

Annoint a black candle with this oil to exorcise those demons that are bothering you– whether the irritation is physical or mental.  Annoint a white candle with this oil and burn it to purify your physical space or your mental/physical state.  I’ve used this oil to exorcise entities haunting my home, and I’ve used it to exorcise people from my life who were causing problems.

Mars Astrological Oil

This ointment promotes courage, strength, aggression, sexual energy, healing after surgery, exorcisms, and defensive magick.  I’ve found this to be an especially effective and strong magickal tool, and I want to caution you that this oil can also banish.  Use it wisely.

Witches’ Oil

This is an “all purpose” oil which can be used to annoint the body prior to rituals or spell casting.  It can also be used to dress candles.

Psychic Oil

Annoint your third eye chakra with this oil before doing divination of any kind,  or annoint a lavendar candle to call up and strengthen your psychic powers.

Sex Oil

Carve your name and the name of the one you desire on a red candle; annoint it with this oil to ignite passion and lust.  Then stand back and be prepared for some fireworks!  This oil can be made to accomodate a monogamous couple, instilled with herbs to maintain fidelity.  If you wish, you can email me with your personal preferences.  We can work together to create a unique oil with the qualities that you desire.

Prosperity Oil

This oil is used to annoint candles for money magick.  It can also be used to annoint stones conducive to wealth and prosperity and carried in your purse or wallet.  It will enhance and draw the energies that stimulate the acquisition of money in many ways.

Summoning Powder

This powder does just what its name suggests– it summons someone to you.  If you are in possession of a piece of clothing belonging to the individual you wish to summon, particularly intimate apparell, sprinkle it with this powder.  You can also sprinkle this powder on a piece of correspondence you send to this person– although in this day and age of terrorism, I would be cautious about sending anything through the mail that has a powdery dust on it.

Black Cat Oil

Black cat oil is used to break bad spells and hexes, to attract the opposite sex, and to call in the spirits– benevolent, magickally oriented spirits.  The ingredients in black cat oil is slightly different to attract the opposite sex, so make sure that you select the correct pay pal button.

Four Thieves Vinegar

Four Thieves Vinegar is a crucial component in many banishing and commanding spells.  It can also be used to banish illness.  It’s reputed to drive away danger and rescue its user from disaster.

Graveyard Dirt

This item is exactly what its name implies– soil taken from the consecrated ground of a cemetery.  Graveyard dirt is a necessary ingredient in many hexing/cursing spells.  On the flip side, it is also the key ingredient in many benevolent spells, including those for health and healing.

Banishing Oil

Banishing oils are generally used in banishing spells, whether you’re trying to rid yourself of undesirable people, situations, habits, or things.  Just make sure that what you think you want banished, you really do– getting something back is much more work than making something go away.

Command & Compel Oil

“Commanding Oil” is generally used in binding spells– to get another to bend to your will and do what you want and to gain control of a situation.  This oil has a strong history in voodoo and New Orleans hoodoo culture and is used almost exclusively to exert your will over others.

Uncrossing Oil

This oil is most often used to remove hexes/curses placed upon you.  It’s also brought into service to turn bad luck around and is used in spells for just such results.

New items! ~

Money Wash

Sprinkle money wash across the threshold of your front door or business to attract money.  Sprinkle a little money wash in your mop water and scrub those floors to bring in cash.  Use it in a variety of ways for your own unique magickal practices.

Ancestor Oil

This magickal oil is filled with the herbs and special items used to connect you with the spirit world.  Use this oil on a candle, or on yourself, when you wish to thin the veil between the world of the living and those who’ve passed.  This is the perfect oil to use before divination, séances, or the practice of mediumship.

Helpful Hint:
Once you purchase your bottle of magickal oil, never let the bottle run out of oil.  You can treat your first bottle, which will be filled with herbs and other magickal things, as a “mother”.  The energy is there, the original recipe is there, just keep re-filling your bottle with a base oil of your choice.

Warning
These oils/potions/powders are NOT meant to be ingested!  Most of these oils could be applied to the skin, but there may be an occasional potion that contains a skin irritant…so if in doubt, just don’t!

Bubble, Bubble, Toil n’ Trouble

I get so many requests from people who want me to sit down and put a spell together for them.  I don’t think they realize 1) how time consuming this would be to do for just one individual, not to mention the many other requests coming in; 2) that I work 5 days a week at a mundane job (well, it’s 5 days a week, but I guess I can’t call working in a metaphysical shop “mundane”).

These requests most frequently come in at my blog Magickal Connections at the bottom of the three “Spells & Potions” pages.  These pages contain FREE spells that I’ve taken the time to put together and post on my blog for everyone’s use.  However, I have a very strong feeling that some people don’t even begin to read through them, they want me to do all that and pick one out for them.  If money were no issue and I had all the time in the world to do anything I want, I’m sure it would be fun putting spells together for people to help them get through all their trials and tribulations.

But money and time are an issue in my life.  I have replied to people in the comments that I WILL help them put a spell together that they can cast themselves, and I will answer any questions that they have to the best of my ability– but this is not free.  I charge for my time.

It’s $60.00 for a half hour phone consultation.

https://amythystraine.blogspot.com/p/creating-spellsconsultation.html

A less expensive service that I offer at my site connected to spell casting is a Candle Altar Service.  For a small fee I’ll fix and dress and burn a spell candle for you, and I’ll take the remains of that spell to make you a mojo bag that I’ll mail to you.

This service is $21.99 for a single candle, or $61.99 for a triple candle spell.

https://amythystraine.blogspot.com/p/candle-altar-services.html

First, please make use of these three pages of dozens and dozens of FREE spells.  They’re all categorized to make finding what you really need as easy as possible.

Much love & blessings from The Witch’s Corner ~ Amythyst

“You Are Beautiful!”~Self-Esteem Oil

To Amythyst, from Joe

A few days ago Joe bought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers, and they are just now beginning to fade.  I decided to make an oil with the flower blossoms while they’re still fresh-looking and beautiful.  My oil is a self-esteem oil, made to promote the essence of beauty, and to reinforce the energies of strength, brilliance, success, and accomplishment.

You are Beautiful!~Self-Esteem Oil.

I didn’t make this oil to sell, but rather for myself, creating one more Beautiful Witchy Thing to display in my Witchy Room.  It also seemed like a great way to preserve the beauty of the flowers and to make use of their magickal energy.

Here’s my recipe.  Make your own Self-Esteem Oil!

The Flower Blossoms~

Red Rose Buds

The Herbs~

The Maiden

The maiden is overflowing with all of the possibilities of the future. Within her are the seeds of what will be. She is the fresh dawn of a new day. She is strength and tenacity and power. She is unbridled enthusiasm and wonder and hope.

The Mother

The mother is ripe fruit hanging pregnant from the vine. She is the foundation, the nurturer, the protectress. She is fortified with strength and placid with the calmness of a sunny day. She is who we turn to for stability and reassurance.

The Crone

It is the crone we seek in the darkening twilight. We find comfort in her quiet presence and yet we are challenged by her intuitive knowledge and aware of the darkshadows she casts…forcing us to seek the light and answers.

Divination

Photobucket

Divination brings to mind the stereotype of the gypsy woman ensconced in her tent, peering intently into her crystal ball—and that may very well be an accurate picture somewhere in the world. I grew up in my grandmother’s house, surrounded by books on astrology, numerology, handwriting analysis, dream interpretation, etc. The world of divination is a natural one for me.

But divination in this modern time of neo-paganism has come a long way baby.

Tarot cards of all kinds abound and fill the shelves at not only new-age and metaphysical shops, but also at the mainstream bookstores such as Borders, Barnes & Noble, Hastings, etc.

Crystals, crystal balls, runes, quija boards are as popular now as they were in times past—more so, perhaps. I like to think of this day and age as the “New Renaissance” for the occult world.

Spells & Potions

Photobucket

This is the “meat” of witchcraft, the most fascinating (and sometimes fear inducing) aspect of The Craft for many people. To most of the mundane world the idea that anyone would have the power and the ability to create change using occult means is awe inspiring and often intimidating. The Christian influence in our culture and on our society has taken such natural power away from the multitudes, deeming it “evil”, “sinful”, and even dangerous.

To those of us practiced and gifted in the use of “the black arts”, it carries none of those negative labels. It is awe inspiring, but in an uplifting and promising way. It empowers those who cultivate its secrets and those who learn to use it wisely. It opens doors of dimensions undreamed of; it embraces the forces of nature in all her glory; it wreaks of a time before recorded history…it calls to those of us with the spirit of the Olde Ones, those of us who wish to practice the Olde Religion, those of us who wish to return to these ancient times and reclaim that which is our birthright.

Herbs

Photobucket

This is the magickal medicine cabinet of the witch, and especially the Green Witch. Those who practice the olde ways have known since time immemorial of the powers contained in the molecules of “the green”. Herbs have been used since ancient times—and still are used today—for their medicinal and healing powers. But the Witch knows that these gentle and lovely plants contain other powers as well…magickal powers to be used and tapped into for spells and potions and rituals and cleansing.

The Elements

(Earth, Air, Fire, Water)

Photobucket

FOR ME: Water is the mist of yesterday and today and tomorrow all wrapped up into one magical moment. Water is dreams and visions and questing endlessly to know the unknown. It is divination– searching for answers and listening to the universe for its response. It is the mystical and the elusive…it slips through your fingers leaving you wet and cold and shivering, knowing that you have been touched by the Divine.

FOR ME: Air is the soft breeze on your face that makes you feel touched and not touched. It is thought brought alive and moved through space and time by the Divine. Air is the part of your mind that is clear and sharp and focused and ever changing, never still and never content, but always swept up within another breeze and moved along on the current of time.

FOR ME: Earth is all the treasures buried deep within the soul. It is the material things you long for and were told you shouldn’t have. It is the security of that which is solid and immovable, and it is “manifestation” into the real world of touch and taste and smell and sight.

FOR ME: Fire is that physical passion so burning that it can consume. It is enthusiasm so powerful that it is what drives you to succeed. Fire is that fiery will that doesn’t allow you to give up in the face of adversity. It is what draws lovers together across insurmountable odds and provokes the passion that fights endlessly for justice.

Earth, Air, Fire, and Water…the four elements from which we can draw power to create magick.

Wheel of the Year

(Pagan Holidays)

Photobucket

The Christian “holidays” all have Pagan roots. This is a fact that was constantly brought up to me years ago by a lady who was my friend and a Jehovah’s Witness. It was her oft repeated reason to me why she didn’t celebrate any of the modern Christianized holidays now.

I am surprised by the number of people who do not know this, and even more surprised at how many refuse to believe it. It just goes to show how completely saturating cultural training can be.

I find the history of our Pagan holidays fascinating and joyful and uplifting. I and my family embrace and celebrate them.

Chakras

Photobucket

The word chakra is Sanskrit for wheel or disk and signifies one of seven basic energy centers in the body. Each of these centers correlates to major nerve ganglia branching forth from the spinal column. In addition the chakras also correlate to levels of consciousness, archetypal elements, developmental stages of life, colors, sounds, body functions, and much, much more.

This definition of chakras is taken from:

Rituals

Photobucket

Rituals put a stamp on the passage of time and the progression of our life stages, from a Wiccaning (baby naming) to a death and remembrance ritual, and all those celebrations and milestones in-between. Rituals validate our existence in some implausible elusive way. They bring family and friends together, open doors to the future, and create memories for generations to come.

Ghosts/Ghost Hunting

Photobucket

Growing up in my grandmother’s house prepared me for the paranormal occurrences that I would experience in this, my own house. My grandmother’s house was very active and anyone with an ounce of sensitivity to such things was always very aware of it…the feeling of being “watched” when no one else was near you, the hair suddenly standing up on the back of your neck and the sensation that “someone” was standing behind you, unintelligible whisperings in the dark of the night, a blanket being pulled from you by something you couldn’t see, lights going off and on with no explanation—and stove burners doing the same unnerving thing, objects occasionally moving, etc.

Growing up with these occurrences, I thought it was natural—wasn’t everyone’s house like this?

Apparently not, I was to learn as I became older. That enlightenment helped me to appreciate, study, and cope with paranormal activities on a very basic level. It also taught me to conquer any fear.

But witchcraft taught me how to tame these ethereal spirits, how to control them instead of allowing them to control me. Witchcraft taught me it was possible to have dominion over the spirit world.

My Path

Photobucket

I am a solitary eclectic witch. My path consists of hoodoo, Wicca, and green witchcraft. I am neither a “white” nor a “black” witch; I prefer to see myself in shades of gray— nothing else on this earth is completely clear cut, the practice of The Craft isn’t either.

I am a hereditary witch, taking after the traditions of my mother, my sister, and cousins. I am now watching my own daughters grow in this path. I was raised by my grandmother, a woman steeped in the study of the occult, yet probably not realizing the title many in this world would have attributed to her.

I am a legally ordained member of the clergy, yet I avoid the usual titles which smack too closely of Christianity for my taste. I prefer the simple, yet deeply meaningful title of “Lady”.
