The Witch’s Desk: FAQ

I’m more than a little stupefied at the number of questions coming through the inbox– the form in the right column of the Home page for messaging– at my website (The Witch’s Corner).  There’s no way I can keep up with them all, so each week I’m going to pick and choose a few that strike me (posted as is, no editing).  These questions will be posted anonymously of course, always, your privacy is important to me.  I will also always be totally honest in my answers, sometimes maybe brutally so, and this means that the answer isn’t necessarily going to be what you want to hear or what you are expecting.  And with that said, I’ll start with the first question:

1.  i need to detox for a drug test iv done a fast befor a witch that use to live here made a spical potion water for a 3 day fast i dont rember what all was in it can you help

This boggles my mind on so many levels I don’t know where to begin:  First, get off the drugs– I know, this statement is a total waste of time, because this won’t happen until YOU decide to get off the drugs for YOURSELF.  I don’t know what you are taking, but this 3 day magickal potion fasting crap is a bunch of hooey; I do know that various drugs stay in your system for different lengths of time, and some can still be detected weeks and even months later in your hair follicles.  Second– why complicate your life with illegal drugs?  You can’t reach your potential while you’re plastering your system with a cocktail of chemicals it was never meant to handle.  It weakens your mind, your body; it steals from you the capacity for achievement; it has a negative effect on everyone who touches your life in any way.  It is a living death, it’s a trap…but there is a way out, a way to break the pattern, to break the chains that bind.  I hope you find it.

2.  Hey, I really need your help, my biggest dream is to be like you and ive been researching a lot on witchcraft but I want your help please im willing to do anything please help me! I want to practice witchcraft just as you do!!!

Your biggest dream should be to be like “You”…You are unique, your place in the universe and in the grand scheme of things is important, it’s priceless even.  New human beings may be born because of you, people’s lives will change and are touched, molded, expanded, enriched– because of you.  If you were not “You”, the picture would not be the same.  It’s wonderful that you wish to practice witchcraft, because it is a joyous empowering spiritual path, but you should embrace this path because of your own connection to it, your own spiritual awakening, your own realization of it’s ‘rightness’ for you and the positive implications it will have on your life.  If the path of the Goddess is right for you, all that I can do to help you is to encourage you to read, to keep learning, to explore through media, books, through meditation and reflection.  If this path is your path, you will know.

3.  Hi , I have been trying to register , the reason is they put a dot after com and their aren`t any please help me subscribe thanks

You can’t register at The Witch’s Corner because I disabled that function.  When I set this website up, I had no idea that there was an option to set it up as a social site.  I guess it was that way for years, and I just left it– pretty much ignoring that feature, but within the past year I found and figured out how to disable this function.  It was never my intent to start a social site.

4.  How do I get a wand what do I have to do thank u

Ah, the “Magick Wand”…getting a wand can be as simple as finding a beautiful twig from a tree laying in the grass, or it can be as uncomplicated as visiting your local new-age shop and purchasing one– I have wands that I’ve gotten both ways.  My first wand was a twig I found on the ground in the backyard, cast off in a summer wind by our beautiful Maple tree.  I consecrated it and decorated it with ribbons.  My other wand was purchased at a new-age shop and is made from a tree found only in Africa (though the name of that tree escapes me for the moment); it’s all polished and finished and really quite beautiful.  Both wands have worked for me; I love both of them; I use both of them; and the fact that one was a free gift from the Goddess and one was purchased at a store has really made no difference.

5.  Hello i am sorry to bother you but i was wondering if i could have some advice please. me and my partner are having trouble with his ex who is constantly interfering and stalking him which is beginning to put a strain on our relationship, she has a boyfriend herself but keeps sending my fiance messages like i love you and miss you like crazy etc even though they broke up over 2 years ago now. we fear if we say anything to either of them it may make the situation worse for us. me and my partner don’t get to see each other as much as we would like as he is in the army so is only about 2 weeks every few months but when we do see each other it’s sometimes ruined by her interfering. my fiance proposed on new years and she turned up to the place we were at and ruined the rest of our night. I was wondering if there are any spells i could cast to make her leave us be and re-strengthen mine and my partners love without harming anyone or anything coming back on me? witchcraft has run in my family for years my dad has been a witch for over 24 years now and i too practice the craft, but am having a little trouble with this situation. Any help would be much appreciated. Many Thanks

There’s so many red flags here that it’s hard to see the forest through the trees.  First, there’s a name for this woman– it’s “Stalker”.  Second, what’s the matter with this fiancé of yours, this big ‘ole army dude, why is he afraid to tell this woman to buzz off, it’s over, finished, leave me alone?  She’s been sending him “I love you” messages for two years?  If you say anything to “either of them” it would cause trouble?– how so, don’t you think her boyfriend would be interested in the fact that his girlfriend is declaring her love to another man???  The fact that this woman showed up on the night of your proposal and ruined the evening is very telling– 1) why wouldn’t your boyfriend tell her to take a hike; and if she refused, why wouldn’t he call the police to have her removed? 2) they are in close proximity of each other, which makes me suspicious.

Sorry, my dear, there are just too many holes in this story.  If your fiancé really wanted this woman out of his life, it seems he would be making more of an effort.  As far as magick spells go– you need spells for protection, to protect yourself– and it is only you that I’m concerned with here.  You need spells to protect you from the negative energy of this woman; you need spells to protect you from deceit, or to reveal a liar; you need spells to ward negativity in general; and you need spells to guard your living space.

You only see this man for 2 weeks every few months?  Me thinks you need to think on this one.  It sounds like this man is having his cake and eating it too.

So What Kind of Spell Do You Need?

Putting a spell together takes some thought, some research, some planning, and some foot-work (particularly if you don’t have necessary items on hand and have to purchase them, or cultivate them from nature).  So start with a question:  What kind of spell do you need?

Okay, I have a volunteer– “Stacy”.  She has asked me to put a spell together for her to help her with issues of fertility;  and she has kindly agreed to allow the making of this spell to be posted publicly, though her identity will be kept secret.  (Thank you, Stacy!)

First, what does this issue involve deity-wise; what planetary and elemental connections are we talking about here; what sort of herbs would add the energy needed; candle color; timing; what sort of ritual to set this magic off– informal, most likely for a solitary practitioner who practices quietly; what other objects or ‘personal items’ would we need to collect; how would we finish this spell up– release the energy– dispose of the remnants (Or would we dispose of the remnants?).  Can you see all the questions involved in constructing a spell?  Can you see why the practice of witchcraft can be a lot of work?  It requires a vesting of our energy, our mental thought and attention; it can be time consuming, and it must be carried off to work in the first place– which means making the time to actually cast the spell.

It isn’t easy being a witch.  It’s not like the movies at all.  There’s no big ole’ magick wand that we can wave with a special word or two spoken and ‘voila, the spell is cast and magick happens immediately.  Get “real”, sez I.  Here’s how real magick works, get ready to roll up your sleeves and put your energy into it…

First, the Deity:  It might surprise you that I’m not going to choose one of the many goddesses who are connected to physical fertility; instead, I’m going to invoke the energy and spirit of “Papa Legba”.  This entity was greatly maligned recently on a popular television program, depicted as a cocaine snorting devil with an unquenchable thirst for pure human souls (babies).  It’s wise to remember that a lot of what you watch on tv is Fiction, and that creating a riveting story is part of the screen writer’s job.  The ultimate irony in this is that Papa Legba is noted, invoked, and drawn upon by women with fertility issues, he is actually the anti-thesis of his television portrayal:

Papa Legba is the famous, and infamous, spirit of the crossroads, often appearing as an old black man.  He’s a spirit from the West African Voodoo tradition, and you will find him under the guise of many other names, including:  Elegba, Exu, and Papa La Bas– his New Orleans incarnation.

Papa Legba is a trickster who delights in practical jokes and word games, but he is also a spirit of amazing generosity and protective care.  He protects infertile women, removing obstacles to motherhood; and he assists the poor, often opening up paths and removing obstacles that hinder their growth towards prosperity.  It is said that Papa Legba stands at the crossroads with his shepherd’s crook, where he opens and closes access to life’s path.

Now that we’ve chosen the deity to invoke for the energy we need, what’s going to go along with him???

Ideally I would prefer to work with the energy of a full moon, or at least a waxing moon.  Papa Legba’s ideal days are Mondays and the third day of every month.  Mondays– perfect!– connected to the Goddess, women’s mysteries, the Moon, the element of Water, fertility, women’s physical and mental health.

Candle colors and altar colors would be red, black, and white (Also, ironically, these colors are connected with the three faces of the goddess: red, the mother; black, the crone; and white, the maiden.)  The unique thing about being notoriously eclectic is that it broadens my spiritual path, allowing me to make connections and magickal links to topics, energies, and entities that those aligned with only one tradition or magickal practice might not think about.

The main herb I want to use with this spell is the strawberry…but you can also incorporate other herbs in this spell, and I would suggest herbs and flowers that produce through abundant seeds, such as dill, dandelion, goober daisies, cherry tomatoes, etc.

garden magic 2

Okay, we have our deity, the timing, the colors, the herbs, now you have to decide what kind of magick you’re going to use, how are you going to process this spell and cast it.  I’m going to suggest a combination of candle magick with a mojo bag, using the remnants left over to create the mojo bag that will be kept in a safe and sacred spot…and we can even do something especially significant here.  Stacy, I’m going to speak directly to you now– go to one of those hobby shops (like Hobby Lobby or Michael’s), buy a small wooden box that you will paint and decorate yourself in a way that resonates with you and your idea of a baby; decorate this box in ways that connect with your deep desire.  To this box you can add baby booties, a bottle of baby lotion, a pacifier, a letter to this baby, and whatever else you have room for that will bring this child to life in your mind, that will make its existence real and solid, so that you can almost bury your face in his fuzzy fine hair and smell the scent– most importantly, you will add to this box the mojo bag full of spell remnants– the candle wax and ashes (if you burned any type of spell paper with it).  You could also add to the box small bags of the magickal herbs listed above.

Put this box in a very special and safe place, and have patience dear Lady, nature will work it’s own brand of magick at the perfect moment.

Workplace Mojo– Bad Bosses Beware

Making Magick

Image may contain: fire and candles

As I sit here, right now, let’s put a spell together on a whim and a fancy, by the seat of our pants.  So often I’ve noticed, especially with people new to witchcraft, that we tend to rely on spells being laid out before us, all black and white, neatly listed, pre-packaged, and ready to go– kind of like fast food.  We shouldn’t be afraid to slap together a spell of our own making, our own unique creation.  Not only will it ‘feel’ good when you cast it, it will carry so much of your magickal energy and power of intention that it’s bound to cause a tremor through the universe.

Workplace Mojo

1) Intention…Let’s concentrate today on the workplace and the problems that we find there.  These ‘problems’ almost always tend to have two arms, two legs, and a great hole in their face called A Mouth.

2) Candle Color…If it’s The Mouth that’s causing problems, let’s go with a yellow candle– for the element of Air and communication.  If we just want this ‘problem’ to go away, as in banishing to other-worlds, or in this case other departments, let’s go with my favorite candle color– black.

3) “Dressing” the Candle…We’re going to do several things. First:  carve the name of your problem on this candle, and then sit quietly and hold it in your hands for few minutes, visualizing this individual, seeing in your mind what you want to happen, where you want this person to go, how you want the negative energy dispersed.

Put a bit of oil on your fingertips, either a magickal oil made for specific intentions, or a little olive oil from your kitchen cupboard, and smooth this oil over the candle.

Crush up or grind some herbs that are related to the energies that we’re dealing with and the intentions that we’re raising.  If you’re using a yellow candle to shut a big mouth, you’ll find that slippery elm and cloves work great for this, and I’ve discovered that dieffenbachia will also stop the flow of word vomit just as effectively.  As you grind or crush these herbs, you should chant a little chant and get yourself all worked up over this issue.  After all, if you’ve come to the point of casting magick spells to defend yourself against an individual, you’ve got a right to be pissed– so get pissed, and imbue these herbs and this candle with all that emotion and intentions.

Pour the prepared herbs in a nice line the length of your candle or in a pile on the table.  Lay your oiled candle on its side, and roll it in the herbs so that they adhere to the candle.

4)  Igniting the magick…Okay, you can set this candle up now and light it.  And while it’s burning, write down the name of the big fat old problem on a small slip of paper.  Set this paper on fire by the flame of your spell candle and drop it in a bowl, allowing it to burn to ash.

While you’re doing this, chant your little chant, get mad, stamp your feet, spit in the bowl, and just throw a good old hissy fit.  It will make you feel better, and it will direct the negative energy caused by this individual to come right back at them, full force.  It’s kind of like slapping them in the face, but you won’t leave a mark.

5)  Cleaning up…Once the candle is burned out, gather up the left-over wax, the ashes, and anything else from the makings of this spell and go bury it somewhere– but not on your own property.

Note:  If it’s the black candle you used and banishing was your intention, these would be among my favored herbs for this deed:  cloves; banishing powder– if you’ve got it;  anything ‘hot’– like cayenne pepper, black pepper; anything stinging– like nettles; anything sharp– like thorns, which you can stick right into the sides of your candle.

It would be nice if we didn’t have to waste our time and energy on this type of person and this kind of magick, but the real world dictates otherwise.  We can at least be thankful that there are measures we can take to defend ourselves and to make life bearable.

If you’re the victim of bad workplace behavior, go for it– more power to you!  If you are the perpetrator of bad work place behavior…beware.

Candle Magick

1

Magick…it’s as easy as striking a match and lighting a candle– it is, really. It’s called ‘candle magick’, and there is a rhyme and reason behind it.

(I know, this post might be boring for all the practicing witches out there who do this type of magic all the time, those who’ve done it for years, those who can do it blind-folded. But there are so many new witches on the horizon, so many emails and questions coming in, bear with me– and definitely feel free to leave your own advice in the comments below. Everyone has their own little way of doing things, everyone has discovered magickal little tweaks that work for them, there is a gazillion ways to do magick. Pass your information along.)

FirstIntention

What do you want? What are you trying to change? What’s your magickal intention?  You have to know; you have to be specific; you have to have thought this out, have it squared away in your head.   It has to be strong and definite in your mind, or you will not be able to successfully move the energy along to manifest this intention into the world.

SecondCandle Color

Once you definitely know what you want, what you’re trying to accomplish with this magick, you have to decide on what color of candle you’ll need.  This is important.  The color of the candle is associated with very definite images, intentions, magick; connected even to the elements (earth, air, fire, water); connected to the planets (astrological/magickal associations).  Everything is so connected it’s unreal; most people have no idea.

Red Candles

For the element of Fire, for the planet Mars– it’s all about hot sizzling passion, whether your intention is for physical passion with a prospective mate, or just that wild over-the-top passion for justice or a particular cause.  Red candles will create the kind of energy that moves things along like gang-busters.  Think of those phrases:  “too hot to handle”, “red-hot”, “I’m seeing red”; there’s a reason for these confirmations.

Green Candles

For the element of Earth– health and money, two basic necessities of life.  Face it, you won’t be living very well if you don’t have enough of either one.  The green candle for planet Earth– Mother Gaia, the embodiment of our world, a metaphor for the Mother Goddess, representative of our physical world (our bodies).  Just as people of other spiritual paths request healing and prosperity from their god(s), so the witch turns to divinity, but in her case, it’s not a request, as divinity is part of the witch and the witch is part of divinity.  It’s a different relati0nship within the metaphysical realm.

Yellow Candles

For the element of Air, for the planet Mercury– communication, creativity, mental endeavors. it’s all about pure thought, our mind, that intangible part of ourselves that make us who we are.  Those cliques that are coming to me right now: “thoughts move mountains”, “what we think is what we are”.  The mental aspect of us is the most powerful, some believing that it embodies our soul, our spirit, that which will survive eternally.  It’s also about communication– communication with other human beings, with divinity, with ourselves.  Use the yellow candle when you have something to say, something that needs to be heard.

Blue Candles

For the element of Water…light a blue candle to invoke the Goddess, to enhance your dreams and intuition.  Use the blue candle to come to terms with your emotions, for understanding, for resolution, for enhancement.  The blue candle for the heavenly body, the Moon:  pagan spirituality, the goddess (all three aspects), magick, blessings, running with the tide (waxing and waning– drawing in, sending away).  Use the blue candle for women’s issues, with the knowledge that you are tapping into something indescribably ancient and indescribably wise.

White Candles

You can use a white candle as a substitute for any other color.  But the white candle is also used particularly for cleansing and purification.  Use a white candle for House Blessings, or for cleansing any space.  Use a white candle for invoking and honoring divinity.  Use a white candle for pure energy.  Use a white candle for inspiration, for clarity, for peace.

Black Candles

The black candle, for the planet Saturn…use the energy of this candle to return-to-sender negative energy, bad thoughts, curses, ill-wishes sent your way.  Use the energy of the black candle for retribution and justice.  Use the black candle to catch the bad guy, to banish something (or someone) nasty.  Use the black candle to regain personal power taken from you through injustice.

3

The following information is a paragraph taken from my online book, “Natural Magick the Gray Witch Way”:

You can work with tea candles, votive candles, pillar candles, or hoodoo seven day candles.  You’ll allow these spell candles to burn themselves out at one sitting, or you’ll light them at appropriate times over the course of a period of time. You will save the wax from these candles to be used in mojo bags; you’ll bury it; throw it into running water; or toss it in the trash. You will prepare these candles to work their magick when you anoint (dress) these candles with a variety of magickal oils– or a little olive oil, if you don’t have a stock of magickal oils on hand.  You will use your athame, or another sharp object, to carve into the spell candle the name of your target, sigils and symbols relating to your intention, or designs of your own creation. You will roll these oiled candles in a variety of pulverized crushed herbs depending on your intentions and the desired outcome you wish for your magick.

The New Moon

New Moon:

The night of the dark moon represents a time to cast spells that will reveal secrets, a time to cast spells that will perpetuate beginnings.  The time of the dark moon is also excellent for divination.  Although some witches view this phase of the moon as a time to refrain from magic, the gray witch knows that now is the time to step into the shadows and grab the powerful energy found there.

 September
Wine Moon

Herbs:  lilac, mugwort, marjoram, rose, thyme

Stones:  sapphire, bloodstone, rainbow obsidian

Scents:  gardenia, rose, lilac

Colors:  brown, yellow-green, amber

Trees:  hazel, larch, bay

Deities:  Demeter, Ceres, Isis,

Astrological Signs:  Virgo, Libra

Crafting Your Magic: Feminine energy is highlighted, receptive energy.  Cast magic to draw inward, magic to draw those things– both intangible and material– to you that you need to fill the void.  The Goddess is in the spotlight.  Work magic to benefit female issues, such as fertility, independence, and protection.

The Wine Moon works its magic in the area of love and relationships.  Cast spells to discover your soul mate, find a lost love, or nurture a secret desire.  The energy of Libra will bring balance to all magic cast at this time, and its energy promotes the very essence of love and sex.  Cast spells now to promote healthy sexuality and to maintain or regain physical health of the reproductive system.

Concentrate on the third eye chakra, opening the doors to psychic experiences.  Prepare to enter the autumnal dark months with the clairvoyant vision to see well beyond, into the light of the future.

Spell-Crafting Consultations with Amythyst

For years I’ve been asked, “Will you cast a spell for me?”, and for years my answer has always been, “No”.  I still won’t directly cast spells for you, but I will directly consult with you to put a spell together, a spell that you will be able to understand and cast yourself, even if you are a novice at magickal spell crafting.

I will do this one of two ways:
1) through telephone consultation, or 2) through email

Spell-crafting includes spells for love, money, employment, health, healing, hexing, as well as spells for personal private intentions that are specific to you and you alone.

How do you deal with hexes, curses, & negativity?

I get asked this question all the time, whether through emails or, as in this case, a comment left at my website.  This individual had some very good points and this is a typical situation.  The answer is really much more simple than you’d think:

The Question:

I have been browsing around the internet for a place to inquire about a specific problem I have, and I am hoping you can answer my questions. I married a woman who is a wiccan (I guess that’s what you’d call her) back in 2006. We did get divorced in 2011 but that unfortunately has not ended my problem. She has been casting curses upon me nonstop (she admitted to doing so multiple times) and now she’s saying she isn’t but nothing has changed. Basically, since I’ve known her I’ve been unable to hold down a job, my health has been affected, everything is always falling apart for me (it’s much more complex than that but that’s just a summary). Now as I said, she admitted to being responsible for all of this just 2 years ago and now she’s saying it’s not her, but everything’s still the same. What am I to do at this point? I have asked her what she wants, what I can do to make peace with her, etc., but nothing has worked. Like when you’re dealing with a witch that just hates you and wants you to suffer no matter what, what can be done? Thanks for your time.

My Answer:

Magickally speaking, Chris, there are spells to throw back negative energy sent your way through hexes and curses. Mundanely speaking, you’re still dealing with energy, the nasty energy of people’s negative thoughts and wishes– this is something you can also shield yourself from and rise above. I’ve dealt with plenty of people who weren’t witches (and a couple who at least think they are), who have treated me badly…aside from actual spells to break their negative magick, it helps to put life (and these people) in perspective– in the end, they are not important, their ill-wishes and negative feelings can only impact you *If You Let It*…in layman’s terms– you have the ability to tell them to fuck off (whether you do so literally to their face, or you do so figuratively in your own mind.)……and that’s about all I have to say about this 😛

Saturday:  boy, oh boy, the planet is Saturn, the color is black, and this is “THE” day for revenge and retribution.  I consider Saturday “Hoodoo Day”, and I can almost hear jazz music playing down the street and smell the incense burning while some old priestess is hunched over her bowl of chicken hearts cackling to herself.  This is the day to magickally ‘clean house’.  If there’s an idiot in your life, you can get rid of him today, just give Saturn a kick to wake it up and stand back so you don’t catch the fallout.

 Feather Magick

(excerpt) “…Cardinal: the very color of this bird sparks with the energy of Fire…passion, lust, love, and raw sexuality. It wreaks of sweaty sheets; breathless whispers; the fierce mingling of bodies, the beautiful struggle to get ever deeper, closer; ecstasy so intense it leaves you exhausted. The red feather of the Cardinal carries desire, sexual fantasy, the raw instinct to mate, the pure unadulterated energy of sex. Save this feather for a special occasion, a special someone, because once this energy is released, you will no longer have control.”

It’s All About Poppets

witch2.jpg picture by witch_of_endore

It’s all about Poppets this month.  When you purchase them from my website, they are charged and ready to go– all that’s left is for you to add a ‘personal’ touch with a photo, a lock of hair, a signature, etc.  But did you know that there is a ritual to ‘breathe them to life’?  Well there is, and I’m passing it on to you.  It would be preferable to work this magic within a cast circle:

Assemble those items that correspond to the four elements– a bowl of water, a lit candle, an incense of your choice, and a bowl of salt.

1.  Cast your circle & call the quarters.

2.  Have your altar prepared, the color of your altar cloth, the herbs and stones present all corresponding to your intentions.

3.  Upon this altar place the items belonging to the elements.

4.  Take a few moments to ground yourself, to gather your energy, to fill your mind and this magical space with your intentions for this poppet.

5.  Lay the doll upon the altar.

For the element of Earth:

Take a handful of salt and sprinkle it across the figure, saying, “I infuse you with Earth, that you feel physical touch.”

For the element of Air:

Take the doll in your hands and hold it in the smoke of the incense, turning it, moving it, that it is consumed with the smoke, saying, “I infuse you with Air, that you think.”

For the element of Fire:

Lay the doll upon the altar once more and hold the burning candle above it, saying, “I infuse you with Fire, that your passion be unquenchable and you feel the heat of my fury (or love, hate, etc.)”

For the element of Water:

Dip your right hand into the bowl of water and sprinkle the water upon the poppet as it lay on your altar, saying, “I infuse you with Water, that your emotions be overwhelming.”

6.  Leave the poppet lay on the altar.  Take a deep breath and slowly lean over it, until you hover above it’s mouth, your own lips almost touching it.  Exhale now, allow your breath to escape from your body in one long warm draught of air.  And this breath shall enter the poppet and give it life.

7.  Open your circle, dismiss the quarters.  Do with the poppet what you must, according to your intentions.

Friday’s Magick: Finding a Lost Friend

As I’m getting older, I find I’m becoming more nostalgic, often thinking about people whom I haven’t seen in years, or decades. If you’ve had someone on your mind, whether a childhood friend, college classmate, or old beau, and you have no idea how to get in touch with them, here’s a spell for you…

Day: Friday (relationships)
Planet: Venus
Moon Phase: waxing to full (to bring that which you desire to you)
Colors: pink and green

Items needed:
1. an image of the target, or a name paper
2. a white or pink candle
3. command and compel oil
4. drawing powder
5. a fireproof container
6. pink silk bag.
7. Optional: any memorabilia connected to the target

The Method:

1. An image of this individual would be ideal, but if you don’t have access to this, create a name paper for them. Do this slowly, deliberately, lovingly, calling their name and asking them to come to you with each letter you write. For added magickal momentum you can write their name in the witches’ alphabet.

2. Anoint a white or pink candle with command and compel oil and roll it in drawing powder.

3. Place the spell candle in a fireproof receptacle for burning. (Emphasis on ‘fireproof’.) I use my cast iron cauldron.

4. If you have retained any mementos from this individual, such as jewelry, buttons from their clothing, tickets from a concert or movie which you both attended, etc., place these items on your altar, near the candle.

After you anoint and dress the candle, light it, and set the image or name paper on fire in its flame. Drop this into the cauldron with the candle, and allow the candle to burn itself out.

Gather the cooled remnants of this spell together; place them in a pink silk bag; and sleep with this charm beneath your pillow for seven nights.

Within a moon phase, you should be reconnected with this individual; and this often comes about in strange and completely unexpected ways.

May Updates: Heading into Summer

I’m happy to be back to business as usual, more or less, and I’ve resumed tarot readings, including personal private local readings. If you live in or near the Fremont, Nebraska, area, you can receive a personal reading with me by going to this page (click Here) and purchasing a private reading through the Paypal widget. After you’ve done that, call me to set up a date that will be convenient for both of us. You’ll find my number at this link.

*Note:  readings must be paid for in advance, before I’ll set up an appointment. I’ve had too many people who have either forgotten a scheduled reading, or who have been ‘no-shows’. This wastes both my time and my gas.

I finally got the new “Steampunk Bleu” jewelry collection up at my website, click  Here.  This collection includes original designs from “Creations by Isabella”.  She’s worked for months designing necklaces, earrings, and bracelets, all with the popular ‘steampunk’ theme; and this jewelry was literally selling as I’m putting it up– two pieces have already sold, so I suggest you take a look soon if you’re interested.

I’ve had so many requests for so long for magnetic healing bracelets, and I finally found a decent vendor for these items.  There are two different styles of hematite magnetic enchanted bracelets.  There are a variety of colors (accent beads) and a variety of enchantments; however, there are a limited number of bracelets. When you purchase one of these bracelets, be sure to let me know which color of accent bead you want, and you also get to choose what kind of enchantment you desire from the enchantments offered. ( If you have a special magickal need, let me know and I’ll see what I can do for you to personalize the enchantment.) …Click  Here.

I’m pleased to say that my book, “The Gray Witch’s Grimoire”, is doing well and seems to be hitting a soft spot with a lot of gray witches and solitary witches out there.  Thank you to everyone who’s sent me personal messages.  I may not have the time to answer every email coming in, but I read them all!  If you like this book, please be sure to click the ‘Like’ button at Amazon.  If you’ve read this book and you have something to say about it, you can submit a review at the Amazon page included in the link above.  I appreciate all of the input I’ve received, it’s the most rewarding part of writing, to know that you’ve made a ‘magickal’ connection with so many people on so many levels.

The following is an excerpt from the introduction to “Spells” in “A Gray Witch’s Grimoire”:

“…The spells listed here are all taken directly from my own Book of Shadows. I’ve carefully read through and decided upon a number of spells for a variety of intentions. I’ve chosen spells which have the spirit of the gray witch about them and that will fit with the energy of this book. Some of these spells are inspired by age-old traditions and others were birthed from my own imagination, desires, and intentions.

For those of you who don’t have the heart of the gray witch, some of these spells might make you cringe; but you’ll read transfixed, nevertheless, for the pull of the wild witch is strong within us all. Some of you have just tamed her, and others have allowed her to fly free.”

Some “Berry” Nice Magick :)

Mundanely speaking, there isn’t a berry I don’t find delicious, so I’ve included a recipe for each berry in this post.  Magickally speaking, there’s much more to these colorful delectable morsels than a muggle would ever guess, so we’re going to take a good look at this side of berries:

Blueberry

Folk Names: Bilberry

Power: Protection

Deities:  Dark Lord; Lugh; the Hunter

Magical Uses:

Place some blueberries beneath the doormat to keep undesirables away from your property, or from entering your home. This protects against evil as well.

Make blueberry pies or tarts and eat when under psychic attack; this gets the protection inside you and increases the herb’s effectiveness.

To “bother” an enemy:  soak dried blueberry leaves in hot water overnight.  Stir in black mustard seed the following morning and throw this concoction across your enemy’s path, where they will step in it.

Blueberry Pie

2/3 to 3/4 cups sugar
¼ all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon grated lemon peel
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
5 cups blueberries
Pastry for one 2-crust pie/9”
1 tablespoon butter or margarine

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. In large bowl, combine the first 6 ingredients; let stand.

Roll out half of the pastry and line a 9 inch pie plate. Spoon filling evenly into crust; dot with butter or margarine. Prepare top crust and cover pie, sealing the edges. Bake 50 minutes or until golden.

Raspberry

Folk Names: European Raspberry, Red Raspberry

Gender: Feminine

Planet: Venus

Element: Water

Powers: Protection, love

Magical Uses:

The brambles (branches) of the raspberry are hung up at doors and windows for protection. This is also done when a death has occurred, so that the spirit won’t re-enter the house once it has left.

Raspberry is served as a love-inducing food, and the leaves are carried by pregnant women to alleviate the pains of pregnancy and childbirth.

Hoodoo mojo, “To Hold a Man”:  There are a few ways that this plant can be used to bind a man to you– and you’d better make darn sure you want him before you do this, because once it’s done, you can’t change your mind…1)  Make a tincture with raspberry leaves in a quart jar filled with spring water.  Pour this tincture over your body while repeatedly reciting the man’s name. 2)  It’s said that a man will never want to wander far from his woman or stray from the marital bed if she washes her genitals in raspberry leaf tea, sprinkles periwinkle on his food, and hides a magnolia leaf in the mattress…good luck, Ladies.

Turn about is fair play.

Now it’s the guys’ turn– more hoodoo mojo, “To Hold a Woman”:  You have to find a branch of raspberry that has rooted at the tip, and take some of this from the plant without killing the plant.  Boil the root in spring water, bathe in it, drink some of it; then serve the rest of it to your wife.  It will keep the little woman faithful– if it doesn’t make her sick.**

*see the note below

Raspberry Lime Lemonade

1 1/2 cups lemon juice
1/3 cup lime juice
1 cup sugar
6 cups water
1 cup fresh raspberries

Combine lemon juice, lime juice, sugar, and water in a 2 quart pitcher.  Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.  Add the raspberries and chill overnight.  Pour over ice, serving it with a lemon or lime slice.

Strawberry

Folk Names: Poziomki, Tchilek, Jordboer

Gender: Feminine

Planet: Venus

Element: Water

Deity: Freya

Powers: Love, Luck

Magical Uses:

Strawberries are served as a love food, and the leaves are carried for luck. Pregnant women may wish to carry a small packet of strawberry leaves to ease their pregnancy pains.  This berry can also be used to draw a stray lover back to you, but this spell I can’t post here– it’s a spell that’s included in my book, The Gray Witch’s Grimoire, which will be out in May.  All I can say is, it’s a doozy.

Strawberry Love Salad

2 (3 oz.) boxes strawberry jello
1 cup boiling water
2 (10 oz.) boxes frozen strawberries, thawed
1 can crushed pineapple
1 package Dream Whip

Topping:

1 package cream cheese
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Dissolve jello into water. Add the pineapple and strawberries (with the juice). Refrigerate. Make the topping, which includes whipping together the Dream Whip, cream cheese, and sugar. Garnish with nuts.

Blackberry

Folk Names: Bly, Bramble, Bramble-Kite, Cloudberry, Dewberry, Goutberry,High blackberry, Thimbleberry

Gender: Feminine

Planet: Venus

Element: Water

Deity: Brigit

Powers: Healing, Money, Protection

Ritual Uses:

Blackberry was considered to be sacred to some of the old Pagan deities of Europe, and was used in worship. To the present day, blackberry pies are baked on Lughnasadh (August 2) by some of the Wiccans in commemoration of the harvest, seen poetically as the death of the God.

Magickal Uses:

The blackberry leaves are used in spells of wealth, as are the berries themselves, and the vines are protective if grown.

The blackberry plant is also used to heal scalds by dipping nine blackberry leaves in spring water and then laying them against the wound gently, while saying the following chant three times to each leaf (27 times in all):

“Three ladies came from the east,
One with fire and two with frost.
Out with fire, in with frost. “

This is an old invocation to Brigit, the ancient Celtic Goddess of poetry, healing, and smith craft.

Hang onto your hoodoo hats, “To Send Back Evil”:  You’ll need a black candle in the shape of a human figure, whether it’s male or female will depend upon your enemy, and most new-age shops carry these candles.  Lay this candle on a red cloth, sprinkle it with blackberry leaves and black salt.  Wrap it up and tie both ends shut with a black ribbon.  Hit this bundle three times with a hammer while shouting out the name of your enemy and exactly what evil-ass energy you want to return to them.  Do this for seven days, repeating the exact words each time.  On the eighth day, take this bundle to the graveyard, bury it and ask the spirits of the dead to dole out justice…Now this hoodoo magick, I can handle. *imagine evil wicked cackle inserted at this point*

Blackberry Pudding

1 1/4 cups milk
1/4 to 1/2 cup ground almonds
1 1/4 cups water
1 pint fresh blackberries
1/3 cup merlot or other red wine
2 tablespoons rice flour
1/3 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ginger
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon butter @ room temp
2 tablespoons wine vinegar
1/4 cup fresh currants
whip cream…for garnish

Place the blackberries in a bowl, and pour the wine over them, mixing gently– gently!  The berries will soak up some of the wine; pour the rest off and discard (I can hear you groaning).  Using a blender, combine the berries, rice, flour, sugar, salt, spices, and milk until well blended.  Pour this mixture into a large saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.  once it’s hit a rolling boil, lit boil for two minutes to thicken.  Remove from heat and stir in butter, then the vinegar, and then the currants.

Pour this mixture into a large serving bowl, or small individual dessert dishes.  Chill and serve with a topping of whip cream.

The delicious recipes for this post, or some of them anyway, have come from the following sources. (If you think I hang around the kitchen creating new recipes, think again– and listen, you might be able to hear my husband laughing.)

“From a Witch’s Kitchen:  Celebrating Seasonal Magic in Every Meal”
by Beth Brown

“The Wicca Cookbook:  Recipes, Ritual, & Lore”
by Jamie Wood & Tara Seefeldt

Both of these are great books, filled with wonderful recipes galore and interesting information.  The Wicca Cookbook is actually filled with quite an impressive load of myth and folk-lore.  I highly recommend both books.

**Note:  I find a lot of this old hoodoo magick interesting and entertaining to read about, but realistically I would be very careful about actually using this type of magick on anyone; not only from an ethical viewpoint as far as magick and the rules of propriety are concerned, but also from the practical mundane aspect of safety.  Just because the berries on a plant are edible, that doesn’t mean the entire plant is safe to ingest.  Rhubarb is a good example of this– as delicious as the stem is, the leaves are poisonous.

The Witch’s Corner: Updates & More

Tarot:
Card of the Day

Eight of Swords

Someone is feeling trapped in a situation they see no resolution to. Does this mean that you give up trying to find the right answer? No. I believe that part of this problem could actually be too much introspection and not enough honest evaluation. Stop thinking of yourself, and start looking at what this situation is doing to the other people involved. Once you become aware of it, your concern for someone else may help you to arrive at the right conclusion faster.

Today’s Correspondences:

Tuesdayplanet, Mars; element, Fire; color, orange, herbs– hot (peppers, cloves, cinnamon, etc.), red or orange flowers.

Today’s energies are aggressive, warrior like, in your face, strong and persistent. This doesn’t seem very conducive to Valentine’s Day and romance, does it. But actually this is the day traditionally used for magic and spells connected to marriage. You would think that Venus would have this honor, but it makes sense. Friday/Venus is connected with that first fairy tale/prince charming aspect of love, it’s always gentle, obsessive, slightly insipid, and very fragile. Marriage, on the other hand, takes a lot of work and courage to stay successful. It’s earthy, sometimes messy, often tumultuous, and definitely not for the faint of heart. It often takes a warrior like determination to make it work. Mars is the perfect energy.

Ritual & Spell Remnants: What do I do with it?

After the spell is cast and the magick is set, what do you do with all the left over “stuff”– the candle wax, herbs, ashes, pins, needles, dollies, spell bags, charms, talismans, personal effects, etc. etc.? Is how you dispose of the remnants left from magick spells or rituals important? You bet your sweet cauldron it is. I’m posting this because 1) I’ve just stumbled upon it in my great big ole’ black Book of Shadows; 2) I’ve gotten a few emails filled with questions on this issue; and 3) I think it’s important enough to review for anyone who hasn’t thought about it for a while. I do believe that this information, or at least some of it, might have come from luckymojo.com, but this has been buried in my BOS for so long, I don’t really remember anymore.

Note: One big difference in casting spells in the hoodoo tradition is the belief that the power attributed to certain items, herbs and such, is naturally a part of these things and it is not necessary to consecrate these items to charge them in order to activate the magick. I’m extraordinarily eclectic, and I love charging my spell candles, mojo bags, charms & talismans, jewelry, etc, in the Wiccan tradition, with the four elements– by earth, by air, by fire, by water.

When all is said and done, the last spell candle has burned itself out, and the final “So Mote it Be” has been spoken, here’s what you’re going to do with all the leftover tidbits…

1. If you want to keep something close, bury it in your backyard.

2. If you want to attract something, bury it under the front door step.

3. If you want to destroy it’s influence, burn it.

4. If you want it to move away and sink, throw it in running water.

5. If you want to disperse it far away from you, throw it to a crossroads.

6. If you want to fix its influence, bury the pieces in a a five spot pattern

7. If you want it to work by means of spirits, bury it in a graveyard.

8. If you want to hide its point of origin, conceal it in a tree.

9. If you want it to work in secret, give it food or drink.
(This is often an ongoing thing, done at regular intervals.)

10. If you want it to work in stealth, hide it in clothing or on objects.

11. If you want its influence to begin or strengthen, throw it to the East.

12. If you want its influence to weaken or end, throw it to the West.

13. Never bury the remains of a negative spell on your own property!

Saturday’s Magick

Saturday:  the planet- Saturn; the element:  fire and earth/Protective Energy:  this is the get even, in your face, I-can-take-care- of-myself energy that so many people need and so many people are afraid or hesitant to seek and to use.  Gird up your loins, set your boundaries, put your wagons in a circle, stand on a lone hill and howl your independence, show your strength– you might scare the hell out of yourself in the process; but you will also scare the hell out of your enemies/Herbs:  morning glory (binding), skullcap, wolf’s bane, slippery elm (shut their mouth), belladonna, and boneset/Color:  black (negative energy, negative influences, negative people– be gone)

Autumn Magick: Flower Power

I was just talking to my girls the other day about flowers and foliage and the seasons. I mentioned that it seems, after that first brilliant ‘coming to life’ in the spring, there is a hot and lazy period. Everything seems scorched and beaten by the summer sun, wilted and tortured by the elements of the dog days of summer; and then comes autumn, blessed autumn. It’s like a second birth, a brilliant blossoming, a breath of cool fresh air that seems to revitalize the world of flora. Everything in the garden throws itself into color and beauty with renewed energy, just in time to begin turning for a glorious autumn show.

Many of the flowers that highlight this time of year are also some of my favorites, and it’s these flowers and plants that I’m going to look at from a magickal point of view. What are their connections to the elements? the planets? magickal intentions? How can I use them to work my magick in order to promote positive change?

Acacia: It’s gender is masculine (projective), it’s planet is the Sun, and it’s element Air. Acacia is used for protection and to promote psychic powers. Burn a small amount of the wood with sandalwood before practicing divination. A sprig from this tree kept in the home will ward off evil and protect the inhabitants from negative outside influences.

Allium: It’s gender is feminine (receptive), it’s planet Venus, and it’s element Water. I use allium in spells for feminine empowerment, to heighten intuition and psychism, and to promote feelings of love and well-being. I’ve used it both in mojo bags and magickal oils.

Alstromeria: White/pink/peach– the gender is feminine (receptive), the planet Venus, the element Earth; yellow/orange/red– the gender is still feminine (receptive), but it carries a bit of a punch; the planet is Mars, the element Fire. I use the milder more gentle form to work gentle magicks, the more robust colors I use in protection magick and self-empowerment spells, when you need strength and good dose of moxie.

Amaranthus: The gender is feminine (receptive), the planet Saturn, and the element Fire. The deity for amaranthus is Artemis– the feminine warrior/huntress. The magickal powers contained within this plant includes healing, protection, and invisibility. Amaranthus was used in pagan burial rites.

Anemone: It’s gender is masculine (projective); the element is Fire, and the planet is Mars. Deities associated with anemone are Adonis and Venus. This plant is also used for health, protection, and healing. To prevent disease, carry the blossoms from this plant in a red cloth upon your person. This plant can also be used in spells dealing with health issues involving blood and the reproduction organs. To keep an enemy at bay, place their photo in a red bag with a handful of the blossoms, or the root of the plant– and leave the dirt in place.

Baby’s Breath: The gender is masculine (projective), the planet Mercury, the element Air. I use Baby’s Breath for magick encompassing communication and creativity. I’ve also used this plant in love spells to instill good open lines of communications between couples, or to loosen the tongue of a shy partner– just be careful how much and how often you do this, you might be surprised at what’s released– or unleashed.

Bittersweet: The gender is masculine (projective), the element is Air, and the planet– Mercury. The most popular magickal use for bittersweet is in spells for protection and healing. I’ve also discovered that this plant, connected to the energies of Mercury and Air, is wonderful for issues of communication, clear thinking, powers of deduction, and the spark of creativity.

Carnation: The energy is masculine (projective), the planet is the Sun, and the element is Fire. Use the magick of the carnation for protection, strength, and healing. Use carnations in healing spells. Place carnations in a sick room to give strength to the one who is ill. Use this flower in healing rituals, mojo bags, and oils.

China Berry: This plant is used for luck. The seeds are considered good luck charms, so use them as thus, particularly in bags or lockets, where you can carry them upon your person. The China Berry can be used in spells to precipitate change.

Chrysanthemum: It’s gender is masculine (projective), the element is Fire, and the planet– the Sun. Chrysanthemums are used primarily for protection. Grown in the garden, they are reputed to keep evil spirits away– and in this case, my garden should be totally free of evil spirits, because I’ve accumulated a mass of mums this autumn. I take this one step farther by color associations– yellow blossoms for spells meant to help you find your voice; magenta blossoms for a good strong dose of pure love, and white blossoms to throw an honest light on any situation.

Cockscomb: The energy is masculine (projective), the element Fire, the planets Jupiter and Mars. The no nonsense energy of the Cockscomb can be used to discover and unleash the masculine side of yourself, when aggression, strength, and courage are called for. The most beautiful cockscomb flowers I’ve seen was in Iowa, when we were traveling through Amish country.

Cosmos: The energy is feminine (receptive), the planet is Earth, and the element is Earth. I use the lovely petals from this plant for goddess magick; to highlight feminine energy– for maiden, mother, and crone; for healing spells dealing with female issues; for safe childbirth; to celebrate those rituals geared toward women and their life milestones, including female puberty rites and a croning.

Echinops: The energy of the thistle will be found within this plant. It’s gender is masculine (projective), the planet is Saturn, and the element is Fire. Use the Echinops in spells for protection and self defense. This plant will also be used in hexing and cursing spells, added to poppets or mojo bags.

Freesia: The planet– the Moon, the element is Water, the gender is feminine (receptive). The Freesia contains the constantly mutating and fluid energy of the Moon and the element of Water. Use this plant according to color correspondences for a surprisingly wide array of magickal intentions. White, for those things of spirit and spiritual energy; red for passion, including not only physical passion, but passion for many things of life; pink to inspire friendhip and loyalty; yellow for God energy, and healing.

Gerber Daisy: The gender is masculine (projective), the planet Saturn, the element Fire. The daisy and the gerber daisy both possess strong energies for love spells, the gerber daisy being more ‘hot-blooded’, meaning there will be more animalistic passion in love spells done with the gerber daisy. This plant can also be used in spells when the energy just needs to be riled up a bit, when you need to light a fire and get people and circumstances moving.

Hypericum: The gender is masculine (projective), the element Air, the planets Mercury and the Sun. The beautiful yellow flowers of this plant can be used in mojo bags and spells to enhance communication, for god energy, for healing, and for spells of self-empowerment.

Juniper: It’s gender is masculine (projective), the element is Fire, the planet is the Sun. The magickal powers of Juniper include protection, protection against theft, love, exorcism, and health. I also use Juniper berries for spells geared to the Winter Solstice, youth & immortality, and spiritual rejuvenation. Juniper is reputed to promote male potency when used in love spells– though I have not personally put this theory to the test.

Kangaroo Paw: It’s gender can be both masculine (projective), or feminine (receptive), depending upon what type of magick you’re using it for, and which planet you’re using for the correspondence. The planets are Mercury and Venus, the elements Air and Water. I have primarily used Kangaroo Paw for fairy magick.

Kalancheo: The gender is feminine (receptive), the planet Venus, the element Earth. Magickally speaking, use the pink blossoms for friendship and healing, the red blossoms for love, and the white blossoms for healing.

Liatrus: The gender is feminine (receptive), the planets Venus and Jupiter, the element Water. This plant is best used for all of its connections to the element of Water, which includes the promotion and growth of your psychic abilities, intuition, dreams and visions.

Gloriosa: The energy of this plant is most decidedly feminine (receptive), its elements both Water and Earth, and the planets Venus and Earth. The Gloriosa blossom is representative of the female anatomy, and its magickal energies are best used for female health issues, fertility, female sexual issues, and female self-empowerment. This plant can also be used in spells, magicks, and spiritual practices to glorify and worship the Mother Goddess.

Misty Blue: The gender is feminine, the planet is Water, the element Water. Use this plant for spiritual practices, for spirit contact, and to promote contact in general with the unseen world and the entities which inhabit it.

Orchid: This is a very versatile plant, magickally speaking. It’s energy is masculine (projective), the element Air, the planet Mercury. Use the orchid in your spiritual practices and spell crafting according to the color of its blossoms: red/love and passion, pink/friendship and well-being, white/spirituality and healing. Personally, I use the speckled blossoms when change is needed and desired.

Pepper Berry: The gender is masculine (projective), the element is Air, the planet is the Sun. The red berries and green foliage from this plant make beautiful additions to wreaths. Magickally, I use Pepper Berry in mojo bags and magicks that deal with the Winter Solstice, God energy, and especially new beginnings.

Protea: It’s gender is masculine (projective), the element Air, the planet Jupiter. The primary magickal use for protea is for spells and magicks that move a situation along so that a final conclusion or decision can be reached. The various methods will include mojo bags and candle magick. This type of magick works best when worked over a period of three to seven days.

Queen Ann’s Lace: It’s gender is feminine (receptive), the planet is Venus and Jupiter, the element Earth. I primarily use Queen Ann’s Lace for issues of fertility, and this can mean not only fertility in the physcial world, but fertility of ideas and creative energies, creativity concerning unusual opportunities, etc. This plant is also used in magicks for Goddess energy and self-empowerment.

Roses: The gender is feminine (receptive), the planets are Venus and the Moon, the element is Water. Roses are most strongly connected with love spells. Use the energies of the various colors for different types of love– red/passionate affairs with lusty sex, or soul mate connections; pink/for strong bonds of loyalty, friendship, and fidelity; yellow/for peaceful partings, to say good-by; white/to honor a love who has passed, or to honor a relationship that has come to a natural conclusion. The white blossoms of a rose can also be used in spells and magick to contact a deceased partner.

Rowen Berry: It’s gender is masculine (projective), its planet Mars, and the element is Fire. Use the warrior energy of Mars and the fiery passion of Fire with the rowan berry in spells and magickal workings that require strength, concentrated doses of high energy, courage, passion of intention, and a strong will power. The poisonous berries are also potent when used in spells and magicks for hexing and cursing. Added to mojo bags and poppets, they work with a vengence.

Salvia: The gender is masculine (projective), the element is Water, and the planets are the Sun and the Moon. Salvia is part of a large family of plants which includes Sage. The primary use for salvia is for cleansing and smudging. Use the smoke from saliva to smudge your home and personal space, your person, your vehicle, or your land. Tie up dried bunches and hang them in the four corners of your home for protection, or hang a bundle of salvia by the front door to prevent anyone wishing you harm from entering.

Solidago: The gender is feminine (receptive), the planet is Venus, the element Air. Solidago, more commonly known as Golden Rod, is used for magickal workings involving money and divination. Carry a sprig of goldenrod in your wallet or purse to insure enough money to cover your needs. Place a piece of pyrite with it. Put a sprig of this plant in a small wooden box large enough to hold your tarot cards or set of runes to enhance the magick of divination and your intuitive powers.

Statice: This plant’s gender is masculine (projective), its element Air, it’s planet Mercury. I personally use statice in magick which highlights or incorporates group events, the gathering of people, peaceful conclusions to group debates or disagreements, as well as to promote peaceful cohabitation and successful growth within an organized group.

Star of Bethlehem: The gender is masculine (projective), the planet is the Moon, the element Water. I use the six pointed white blossoms of the Star of Bethlehem in spells and magicks involving spirituality, personal empowerment, and cleansing. I’ve also found it wonderful for Goddess invocation and feminine magicks. It is energy is inspiring and purifying.

Sunflower: The gender is masculine (projective), the planet is the Sun, the element Fire. The magickal powers of the sunflower includes fertility, wishes, health, and wisdom. Use the seeds from this plant in fertility spells, the yellow blossoms in magicks geared to gain your wish, and to inspire wisdom when wisdom is desired and needed. Carry a mojo bag containing various aspects of this plant for good health.

Yarrow: Yarrow’s gender is feminine (receptive), it’s planet is Venus, and the element Water. The magickal powers of yarrow includes areas of courage, love, psychic powers, and exorcism. Place a bouquet of yarrow on your table during divination sessions, in the four corners of your house to keep evil entities at bay, or place a sprig of yarrow in the pocket of the person you love. I’ve used yarrow in dream bags that I’ve placed beneath my pillow to inspire prophetic dreams and visions. You might want to add a marigold blossom to this bag and a stone of amethyst.

Zinnia: The gender is masculine (projective), the planets Mercury and Jupiter, the element Air. Use zinnias in spells and magicks where courage, fortiude, and strength are needed. This is also a good plant to use in healing spells, and spells of protection. As the zinnia stands strong and tall, so shall it inspire these attributes when you tap into it’s magick.

Tuesday: Magick & Musings

I’ve been busy updating my website, particularly the Enchanted Jewelry page– make that ‘pages’ now. Enchanted Jewelry has grown to the point that the main page is very full and some people might find it hard to load on their computer. Don’t worry, the main page is still there, intact, but I’ve added individual pages that carry specific items:

Rings

Necklaces & Pendents

Earrings

Bracelets

There’s also been another change at my online shops this summer:

I will no longer be selling my merchandise internationally. Thank you to all my international customers for your support and enthusiasm. I’ve shipped items to Europe, Great Britain, Australia, Africa, and New Zealand, and it was always thrilling to know that my creations were going round the world.

I’ve stopped international sales just because, as a small cottage industry, I can’t afford the exhorbitant cost of international postage, and passing this cost on to my customers just didn’t seem fair.

The newest item up is Alpaca Silver Bracelets, enchanted, bedazzled, and loaded with magickal energy, ready to go:

You’ll find an assortment of these bracelets in a variety of colors and a slew of spells & enchantements.

Today’s Goddess

Minerva

She is the virgin goddess of wisdom, knowledge and commerce. Minvera is the ultimate original feminist, dependent on no one but herself. She never took a mate, but followed her path in the solitary shadows, and it’s in this manner that we often discover ourselves and our full potential. She is a healing goddess, the patroness of doctors and nurses. As an inventor and alchemist, Minerva is attributed with the creation of numbers, muscial instruments, medicines, and machinery.

Today’s Tarot Card

Six of Wands

The six of wands is a card that smacks of victory, the victorious, acclaim, admiration and adulation, achievement, and full-blown in-your-face success. At its best it tells me that the querent has risen to the challenge of meeting goals and ambitions. At its worst—reversed, the six of wands warns me of an expanded ego, pompousness, conceit, and sometimes an obstinate nature. The reversed six of wands shows failure, blocked paths to success, apathy, and a lack of motivation.

Sometimes the character on this card may view himself or herself in any of these positive/negative lights, or this may be how he/she is viewed by others.

When this card pops up in a reading, it may foretell of great potential in a querent and in their life, or a total lack of talent/drive/ambition needed to complete a project-in-progress. The most positive thing about a reversed minor Arcana card is that it can be turned around—it will be totally up to the querent.

Today’s Spell

Quitting Powder

(Also known as Boss Fix Powder)

This Hoodoo formula could be called “Love Fix Powder”. It allegedly forces someone to quit bothering you and leave you alone, halting unwanted romantic and sexual advances. As a bonus, it may also be used to stop any attempts at placing a hex on you.

1. Blend and powder the following ingredients:

ground cinnamon

ground nutmeg

powdered newsprint– Preferably from the target’s favorite publication or even a newspaper that has been in their possession

tobacco taken from a cigarette– ideally obtained from that person, but their favorite brand would be a good second choice.

2. Use the resulting powder in any of the following ways:

Sprinkle it where your target is sure to sit on it or step over it.

Sprinkle it to create a boundary of safety for yourself.

Carry it in a mojo bag as a protective talisman.

You’ll find plenty of free spells at my website to fit a wide array of situations and circumstances to meet your needs:
