I recently posted the Jesus meme below on Facebook and was surprised that anyone following me was shocked or put off by it. After all, I’ve always been very open about my paganism, my spirituality. I’ve seen many posts by friends of different faiths and spiritual paths voicing very strong opinions and never thought of unfollowing them, or otherwise criticizing what they were saying. It’s their FB Timeline, it’s their space, it’s their thoughts.
I have never hidden the fact that I practice witchcraft and follow a philosophy that centers around matriarchal divinity. On the contrary, considering the books I write and the business website I maintain, I’d say I flaunt it. I have never deliberately tried to hide my opinions on other forms of spirituality. I’ve often been heard to say, “The Judeo-Christian religion is the worst thing that could have ever happened to women.” (People who really know me aren’t the least bit shocked or offended, that’s just me).
On the Very Rare Occasions that I actually post something substantial about anything, I really feel it’s very tiresome to have people get their panties in a twist, all thrown up in arms because my opinion is different from theirs, because my opinion is strong and outspoken for a change. (Instead of all the humorous or inspirational neutral drivel that I generally post)
When I post something serious, to the point, and even controversial… it has touched a chord with me! It means something to me. It has inspired or moved me in some way. I’m not posting it to make you feel bad, or angry, or to start an argument or debate. If you liked me before I spent 2 seconds creating this FB post, there should be no reason to dislike me or unfriend me 2 seconds after creating this post. I’m the same person.
The following are actual questions that are laced in the comments on this blog from various pages. You would think some of the answers to these questions would be obvious to the people asking them, but it’s often hard for people caught up in negative circumstances, or a negative frame of mind, to view their situation honestly and to clearly see what’s needed to fix it. I’m delighted that people feel comfortable enough at Magickal Connections to ask what they want to ask. I sincerely try to think of the best answer, the most helpful answer, the most needed answer possible to each and every individual leaving a question. If anyone else has some good advice to pass along to these people, please do so with a comment. Fresh insight is always appreciated! *Note: I’m posting the questions unedited, as they appear in the original post.
#1 ~ Greeting Queen Amythyst, first of all I think your presence is so beautiful, well I have a trial that is suppose to start the 23rd of this month. It has been going for at least a year now and they have charged me with felon poss. of a firearm. Well I’m tired of going back and forth (which I know the universe is working) so I simply want the court cases to either disappear or for the case to get dismissed/not guilty. I have been to jail before and it’s something i never want to do again. I’m considering the beef tongue spell for the outcome I’m looking for along with something to help on me not ever going to jail again. If there’s anything else that you think you could shine some light on please feel free! Thanks in advance
My Reply ~
Just a quick note here before we get to the specifics… If you don’t want to ever go to jail again, one sure way to prevent this from happening is not to break the law. I know, this seems so obvious, but for some reason the universe insisted I say it.
One word of caution, and that is that the universe, the laws of karma, they all work towards justice and proper endings. There are spells out there that should not be cast if you’re actually guilty, because the energy will come back to bite you. Think about this before you resort to spell casting for this situation. If you’re actually not guilty, then go for it with a clean conscience and pure intentions.
This is my little light, and I hope it’s shining! Best wishes for your future.
#2 ~ My ex has decided to just come back into my life, use and discard my body and emotions and I was looking for a binding spell. I wanted to make sure #3 was the most appropriate for the occasion. I’m tired of him popping up whenever he feels like and then disappear like nothing ever happened.
My Reply ~
Excuse me…Your ex “decided” to come back into your life? You sound as though you don’t realize that You have a choice here, that You can make a decision about whether you want this individual to come back into your life or not. Spells are okay, and I’m not saying that you don’t need one, or could not successfully use one. But before we resort to spell casting, lets take a good look at the situation and what you could do mundanely to correct it.
If you’re tired of this man popping up in your life and using you: 1) Cut all ties, and I mean all ties. Sometimes, even without knowing it, we might send mixed signals to an ex… I’m done with you– but it’s okay if you still call and I’ll talk to you, or it’s okay if we still see each other occasionally, or it’s okay for you to interfere in my life. CUT ALL TIES 2) If your ex does not take this finality well, or still tries contacting you, and you’ve exhausted all efforts to stop this, like changing your phone number, blocking him on social sites, etc.; it’s time to get a restraining order and make it official. 3) Stop allowing someone to control you; find your inner strength; know that you are an adult, not a toy for this individual to play with at will.
First try the mundane way. If you do, and you’ve done all the important things you have to do to keep this individual away and they still wind up in your life…then pull out the magick.
#3 ~ PLEASE HELP ….. PLEASE!!!!
I’m Cuban we only do spells for health, wealth, luck, and cleanses. unable to go to Cuba I Was desperate So I got help from a very old Mexican lady we know to help bring me and my hubby together that PEOPLE SPENT YEARS doing voodoo to break us up. She took me to Bury our names on paper, birthdays, pics, and his socks in a grave yard with pins and very colorful ribbons i HEARD it’s for separation. Is it true please help.
My Reply ~
First, Since you said that you’re Cuban and can’t do this type of spell (a love spell to reunite a couple), I’m trying to wrap my mind around the difference between just doing a love spell on your own, or participating with someone else to do a love spell. In any case, the fact that you participated with this lady means– you did the spell, honey. Second, how do you know that people were doing voodoo to break you up? Most of the time, people involved in this kind of activity are very discreet. And more often than not, when a couple’s relationship is just done and over, it’s just done and over naturally, all on it’s own. Not all relationships are meant to last forever.
About the spell, I’ve never heard of it. And again, trying to figure out why you would think that someone who did a spell for you (or with you) would be working a spell for the opposite outcome that you intended.
Beware of paranoia.
#4 ~ I have a question with binding. If someone is binding you would you have a dream off someone cutting you ooen and takes just your internal organs and sews you up. I also am an angelic being thats been reincarnated.
My Reply ~
I don’t do dream interpretations. The symbolism involved is so unique and personal to every individual that it’s hard to say what a dream like this might mean. It could mean that you’re afraid of showing your true inner-self to most people, or it could mean you watched a slasher movie before bed. Hard to say. I would say that if someone bound you, you would no longer be able to do, say, or indulge in whatever it is that they bound you from. That’s the whole purpose behind a binding.
#5 ~ Will burning these candles one timework do i have to burn them. Again suppose they turn black while they are burning do i to burn them a gain ehere does i get these herbs from can i put more than one person name in the can dle do i buried the glass to [*Note: this question pertains to a spell on the “Command & Compel” page at this blog… https://wytchymystique.com/spells/command-compel-spells/ ]
My Reply ~
I’m killing two birds with one stone here ~ The answer is yes to both questions. When bringing something to you, keep the remnants from your spell in a safe place, or even in a place that is fitting the intention, that is the “stuff” from a love spell under your bed; a mojo bag filled with the remnants from a money spell in your purse; etc. Second question: not only is it okay to do a spell more than once on the same person for a different request; it’s also okay to repeat a spell on occasion, especially when you’d like to add a different twist to the outcome, for the same request…. also, I don’t really think the word “request” is quite right in these situations, but since this is how you worded your question, this is how I answered it, thinking it would be easier for you to understand. A spell by no means is a “request”. When you cast a spell you are deliberately and willfully manipulating energy in the universe to manifest a change, to move energy, and it certainly will. The word “request” implies that you are asking for something.
Depending upon the magickal practitioner you ask, you’d probably get a variety of different answers. Even in the occult world there are extremists at both ends. There are the fluffy bunnies who are ever in fear of getting their feet wet and doing some ballsy magic that’s got some in-your-face punch to it because they might offend someone or something, and at the other end of the spectrum are people who love the dark aspect of everything, the darker and more warped the better, and they are always searching for something darker. Personally, I would say this magic falls in the shady gray area. Follow your own moral guides. Cast at your own discretion.
#7 ~ Hello I am just curious about doing the command spell. I watched another witch video and she said to use the Black candle for yourself and the white candle for the person you want to command, but you’re saying do the opposite. So now I am really confused. Also can this command spell be used for a group of people or a entity, ie a company. No one specific person, name unknown.
My Reply ~
“Also can this command spell be used for a group of people or a entity, ie a company. No one specific person, name unknown.” Yes to all of the above. And to reiterate what I sent in the email– If you ask 5 witches how to do one particular spell, you’re going to get 5 different answers. Spell crafting is like cooking, and everyone does things just a bit differently and uniquely, suiting to them and their energy and their associations. As I said, “It’s okay if my potato salad is a little different than your potato salad. I’m betting that it’s all good.”
#8 ~ Does good magic really exist?
My Reply ~
Of course it exists. It exists in every healing spell, every spell to bring positive change to someone’s life. It exists in the form of unexplained miracles and connection with the Divine. Good magick can be found everywhere, even in the prayers of people who don’t believe in magick…It’s all “Magick”, honey.
I use to have a major tarot reading gig the end of each year at Ameristar Casino in Council Bluffs, Iowa. This lasted for seven years. It was a crazy 6 hour marathon of non-stop readings. People would wait in line for ridiculous amounts of time to receive a reading, and I always thought there had to be a better way of handling the crowd. As the New Year’s evening wore on and the spirits flowed (and I’m talking about the bottled ones), the crowd became louder, more impatient, and overwhelming. It was even worse when midnight rolled around and I was finished. Yes, it ends– I was done at 12:00am. I had been reading from 6pm to 12am, and there were often still people standing in line, people who had been standing in line for very long periods of time when they could have been doing something much more fun. Understandably, these people were angry when I shut down my booth. Considering where we were and the occasion, they could get belligerent and rude, but not always, so I still have some faith left in human nature.
The readings themselves, which were suppose to be mini-readings, so I could read for as many people as possible, often became very touchy moments when an individual thought they could settle down for a long chat, turning a mini-reading into a long tarot/therapy session. They were often miffed when I cut it off, handing them a business card and telling them they could purchase a reading from me any time of the year, it wasn’t just a holiday thing. Ameristar paid me hourly, so the readings it’s clientele received were “free”. (Oh, horrors, that these individuals must actually pay me personally for my time.)
Almost always, without fail, I was sick the next day. I don’t think it was illness of the flu-season/germ variety; I think it was caused by a dramatic depletion of my own energy, and perhaps even a hanging on of the negative energy that came from so many people, so many problems and issues, just so much energy period that wasn’t my energy. Finally, as the 8th year rolled around, Ameristar abruptly informed me that my services would no longer be required. I’m not sure what happened, if the business changed hands and new management wasn’t attuned to tarot reading and that sort of thing, I don’t know. But this was the end of a long run, and my kids were thrilled when I spent a New Years evening at home with them for the first time in seven years.
I learned a lot from my years doing these readings
1. Don’t become personally, emotionally, and energy-wise drawn into a client’s dilemma.
It’s okay to care and to sympathize, but don’t fall into the trap of being sucked into their emotional crisis to the point where it’s going to affect you (physically, emotionally, mentally), as though it were your own crisis. You have enough going on in your own life to deal with. This sounds so cold, but it’s necessary, especially if you’re going to be dealing with a multitude of people and lots and lots of very negative energy and depressing circumstances and situations.
You’re there to read the cards. You’re there to pick up messages from the universe that most people don’t know how to connect with; and you’re there to verbalize all this wonderful magickal information coming through, whether it’s a voice from the past, a glimpse of the future, or affirmation that they are at least headed in the right direction.
2. When reading at a public venue, provide a sign up sheet, so that people don’t have to stand in line, waiting for their turn.
This is only going to work at a venue of reasonably small size, so that you can call out the next name on your list and the individual can hear you. It wouldn’t have worked at Ameristar; the casino was too large, too chaotic, too noisy, and people would have most likely been wandering off where they wouldn’t have been able to hear me anyway. But at shops and bookstores, this is perfect. Your client can wander the store, browsing and shopping, while they wait their turn. This works. Everyone is happy.
3. Post a sign, big and bold, with the time that you STOP giving readings.
This is going to be especially important at a venue with no sign up sheet. I did a holiday party reading for Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Omaha one year, with long, long lines of people who became increasingly fidgety and upset as the evening wore on. Between the time allotted me for the evening, and the number of people waiting in line, I knew that I would not be able to read for everyone who wanted a reading. I actually stayed over a half hour to 45 minutes past the time I was paid for in order to read for a few more individuals. When the time came to stop reading, I was confronted by several angry people storming my table, demanding my business card, declaring they were going to “report” me to the individual who set up the party…I have to smile as I type this. How do these people think I would ever be able to read for them after blasting me with so many negative emotions and nasty rude behavior.
First, hotel security should have been present during the event; and secondly, someone from the company should have been nearby to over-see things, or at least to handle their own unruly employees.
4. If you’re reading at a hotel or other large venue, request security be present, or at least close-by, just in case you need them.
5. Wear comfortable clothing, and make sure that you have something to drink with you.
You’re going to do a lot of talking. You might do a week’s worth of talking in just a few hours. Your mouth is going to get dry. There have been times, during the course of these marathon reading sessions, where I have lost my voice.
6. It’s nice to have someone come along with you to the larger events, a “go-for” person, or someone to fill your seat when you take a bathroom break.
7. If you’re reading for several hours at a venue, do not hesitate to take a bathroom break when needed, or even pause to eat a cookie, or stretch your legs.
This is not slave labor. No one in any other line of work would work through hours without a break or food. The first year I read at Ameristar, for some crazy idea, I thought I should go through the whole six hours without a break! It was a big mistake, and I paid for it dearly the next day. And surprisingly, most people seem to be very understanding when you say, “I need five minutes.”
8. Protect yourself, your space, and your energy magically and holistically!
On the evenings that I was doing public readings, I wore lots of moon stone and lapis and citrine. The next day I wore lots of smokey quartz and hematite. You want to ground and center yourself after marathon tarot reading. Be sure to eat something. You want to bathe with intention to cleanse your body, mind, and spirit– I like to add a pinch of sea salt laced with lavender essential oil, as well as a pinch of rosemary to my bathwater. Smudge the tarot decks you used, the bag that you carried all your stuff in, the inside of the vehicle that you drove to and from the event. Check your chakras, check your aura. You get the idea. Anything that is cleansing and grounding for YOU, do it.
I hope I haven’t scared anyone away who has thought about doing public readings. If you follow some of this advice, you should do just fine. It’s a learning experience. It’s also extremely rewarding, and you just might be amazed and delighted at some of the interesting, intelligent, special people that you meet through these events. I had people coming back to Ameristar year after year, and one of the saddest things about ending that era was not being able to reconnect with these individuals each New Year’s Eve.
Hi I’ve been reading through all your wonderful information & soaking it all up like a sponge, there is one thing I’d like to ask.. How does one find their (craft name)? I look forward to your reply! I am ready to be fully witch now! Bless Be )0(
Your name…I remember when the realization first struck me that I had the power to choose my own name, a name that would align me with magickal energies and entities, gods and goddesses, a name that would come from something deep within me and from some power beyond me. It was a stunning “Aha” moment in my evolution on this incredible spiritual path.
How do you find your Craft Name?
The more that you read and study and absorb, the more you will be exposed to new connections in nature and the magickal world– herbs; trees; animals; gods and goddesses. You will be exposed to all sorts of new experiences, unfolding as new perspectives, and magickal connections. And you will very quickly realize that certain things in this new world are touching you in a very personal way that somehow or other transcends the natural world as we knew it before this journey began.
When you recognize these new connections, take note of them…your Craft Name is in here somewhere. And the really strange thing about this is that you might realize that you’ve always had an affinity with a particular animal, plant, flower, herb, divinity, etc., and you never realized the monumental meaning and nuance of this connection– until now. It was there all the time, just waiting for the door to open.
In the Self-Initiation Ritual that I wrote, it’s significant that when you enter the circle, you enter and begin the ritual by announcing yourself to the Universe and the Powers that Be, with your legal given name:
“I, (name), have entered this circle in perfect love and perfect trust. I am ready to commit myself to the way of witch. I place myself now before the altar of the Goddess and the God, before the altar of the Ancient Ones, before the altar of the Powers that Be.”
And during this initiation, a transition is made, a magickal beautiful mystical change that will align you forever with All Things on a deeper level. And at that point in the ritual, you will re-introduce yourself to the Universe and the Powers that Be with your magickal name:
“I, (name), do solemnly swear upon the blood of my ancestors to devote the rest of my days to living the way of witch.
I swear loyalty to the Ancient Ones, the gods and goddesses who always were, are now, and shall forever be.
I swear loyalty to my fellow witches; my sister-witches of the past, as well as those who touch my life today, and those I have yet to meet. I vow to keep their secrets, to learn from them as well as teach, to respect our differences, and to celebrate our journey together upon this sacred path.
I freely take upon myself the life of witch. As I turn the corner to live my destiny, I declare to the Powers present here that my magical name is (craft name).”
It’s true, there are power in words. And there is incredible power in Your Name.
The complete Self-Initiation Ritual can be found Here.
As I’ve noted before, I receive emails from readers all over the world on a variety of subjects (both occult and personal!). This week, at The Witch’s Desk, I’m going to take the time to answer one of these emails. The following submission is going to be printed as received, with no editing, other than what’s necessary to maintain the anonymity of the individual who submitted the question.
1) Hey so lately I have just been drawn to desiring to be a witch I honestly can’t explain why. I am emailing you to see if when I tell you my experiences you will be able the help me understand everything that’s happened. okay so when I was little for around a 6 month period of time I have these horrifying dreams about an evil witch who would chase me and take over my family’s body’s . This caused me to wake up in the night screaming crying terrified for my life? Before I went to sleep I heard voices calling my name. One night when I woke up in the night I saw an outline of a women holding a laundry basket standing half way up my stairs looking at me. When I was walking back from school once in the same spot I stopped in the dream a car pulled out in which a women who look almost paralyzed and like the witch in my dreams and was staring at me doing an evil smile waving slowly after I stopped having these dreams everything stopped all these weird accuracies . But lately I feel like I can intimidate people with my eyes and the sun is somehow if I’m in a room full of people the sun will shine on me through the window and I will have to move seats but then the sun goes away and little things like that have started happening ? Have you got any explanation thank you for reading this email?
There so many layers to your letter and your experiences. First, I want to be clear that I normally don’t do dream interpretation, nor do I ever refer to books when it comes to this. I believe that images and connections in dreams are so personal and personally tailored that it would be impossible to be accurate using a book to tell you what an image means. As an example, someone who doesn’t like snakes may view them as evil and bad omens when they show up in a dream, but someone who has a spiritual connection with this animal would view it as the Goddess, wisdom, positive sexual energy– good things! Do you see what I’m saying? I’m probably going out on a limb here, but I want to address your dream first:
Being chased in a dream is really quite common. When this has happened to me, I’ve always noticed that what was chasing me in the dream really had more to do with the pressures and stresses that I was dealing with in my waking life than it did with the entity in the dream. What was chasing me was more of a manifestation of all that stress. You said this happened to you for a 6 month period of time as a child. I’m guessing that there were things going on in your life, or with your family at that time, that was troubling or confusing to you (the child), and this was your way of playing out the confusion and dealing with the stress.
The fact that the Evil Witch in your dream possessed the bodies of your family members could be that it was their actions, their situation, their behavior, that was causing you distress at that time.
I know this explanation is more down to earth and mundane than you were expecting, but it’s really just common sense. Our everyday mundane life is what takes center stage in most of our dreams– yes, there are people who have prophetic dreams, visits from angels or spirits or spirit guides, but to tell you the truth 99% of our dreams are just everyday ordinary life manifesting in our sub-conscious.
The voices you heard calling your name before you fell asleep: mundane explanation– I remember falling asleep in the house as a small child, listening to the conversations and murmurs of the adults in the next room. It was actually comforting, and as I fell asleep, the sounds of their voices would weave and tangle through my sub-conscious, creating images and stories, and…dreams. A more “magickal” or “spiritual” explanation– I have often experienced hearing my grandmother’s voice calling my name, and this has usually happened just as I was drifting off to sleep, when I was “between the worlds”, neither awake, nor asleep. I believe that it was her spirit communicating with me, just letting me know that she was near by.
The woman with the laundry basket…most likely a spirit connected to the house, a previous occupant no doubt.
The woman in the car…I really don’t have an explanation for this aspect of your dream, though I too have had the same character show up in more than one dream. I believe that, if it is not a Spirit Guide (and you’ll know this, at least I do, and it will be an enlightening “aha” moment, a positive experience), it is another aspect of your mundane brain creating dreams in your sub-conscious.
Why would you want to intimidate people with your eyes? And, by the way, lots of people have this ability. It’s not magickal or mysterious. It’s even found in the animal kingdom. There are certain animals that view direct eye contact as a threat– gorillas, canines, etc.
And last , but not least…the Sun. It seems, dear, that my explanation for this is going to be more along a mundane everyday viewpoint. I would say that, for some reason, you are seeking the shadows. My advice– look for the positive aspects in life, positive connections with people. Instead of seeking the shadows, glory in the light.
We think that the Pagan, all hippie love-child neo-nature spiritualist, are above the snobbery of the mundane middle-of-the-road Christian mainstream society. Well, we’re not. Pagans are just as human as the rest of the population, and we fall into all the same societal traps, we just don’t like to admit it, and we tend to fall back on the peace, love, nature theme to justify ourselves (look at how spiritual I am, look at how in-tune with nature I am, look at how white is my magick, how pure my intentions, how saintly I am).
This is how it really is: Just because we practice witchcraft, just because we believe in magick, just because we worship the Goddess, does not mean we are perfect by any means, nor does it imply that we are necessarily even nice– some of us aren’t. Sorry, but this is reality. Pagans can be snobbish, elitist, bigoted, holier-than-thou, and just as irritating as any Southern Baptist, as any Catholic, as any Fundamentalist, as any anything.
There is always conflict in the Pagan community, among ourselves. Pagans are just as opinionated as the next person; and there are very definite views and contradictions, contentions and disputes. The disputes range from how to practice witchcraft; how to practice goddess worship, what about the god; how to practice magick, what’s acceptable, what’s dark, what’s too dark, what’s light, what’s too light; pantheons– you can’t mix them, it’s okay to mix them, a Greek goddess would be angry if her energy was mixed with a Nordic goddess and your magick won’t work; you weren’t initiated by another witch, or you weren’t initiated in a coven, so you can’t be a witch; you can only do spells on certain days aligned with certain energies or it won’t work; you should cast spells in the heat of the moment; you should never cast spells in the heat of the moment; I’m a Very-Important-Witch because I was initiated by someone who was initiated by someone who was initiated by someone (however many times back) who was initiated by another Very-Important-Witch…and so it goes.
The goddess from one pantheon would be angry if her energy was mixed with the goddess from another pantheon– who the hell knows that? What mortal can say this with finality? In truth, if magick works through energy and there are five goddesses out there, all from different pantheons, whose attributes all work for the same purpose, their energy aimed at the same outcome, why couldn’t you work with all five of them for some kick ass enormously powerful energy? Truth is, you could, and you can. At the other end of the spectrum is the pagan who embraces and immerses themselves in the deities from one pantheon, who swears by and only works with the gods and goddesses from one culture, and this is okay too
The truth is that paganism, or any spiritual path for that matter, can be practiced anyway that the practitioner chooses. You cannot police another person’s spirituality. You cannot force people to believe, or to practice what you do, or how you do it.
There’s been a segment of Pagans, around for some time now, who combine witchcraft and Christianity, and this has driven both hardcore Pagans and hardcore Christians nuts. “They can’t do this!” both sides howl in indignation. Why not? Who says?…I mean who says, who says who really has any authority, whose opinion would really count? No one, nada. If a Christian Witch wants to cast a circle and use Christ for her god-form and Mary as the goddess, who’s going to stop her? Whose going to be standing around policing her spiritual practices? The fact is that no one has the right to interfere in this case. This witch is what she is, she’ll find her energy through the magickal means available to her, and I predict that the universe will work with her, blessing her endeavors.
There are also cliques. Really. You think this is a phenomena relegated to the halls of Junior High? Well, you would be wrong. Adults are just as guilty of being cliquish as teen-agers, and Pagans are no exception to this. Sometimes these cliques are disguised as covens, or as literary groups (who has the magickal stamp-of-approval from the powers that be and who does not), or social site groups, pagan internet societies, or any other such society by which people must be okayed and allowed in. I can understand this to a point, as in the case of a coven, where a very specific number of people are desired; but in a vast internet social site, or a Pagan Page, etc., it gets a little stickier, a little trickier.
A spiritual path is suppose to enlighten us, to inspire us, to help us live better lives, more productive lives. We find our inspiration where we do, by super-natural and miraculous means. It really is magickal, this business of finding one’s path, working ones spells, solemnizing life with our little rituals. The most we can do is to try– try to be better human beings; try to be kinder; try to be more open-minded; try to be understanding; try to love other people and treat them well; try to see the world and the universe in the big-picture scheme of things.
All we can do is try– and some of us will succeed.
I’m more than a little stupefied at the number of questions coming through the inbox– the form in the right column of the Home page for messaging– at my website (The Witch’s Corner). There’s no way I can keep up with them all, so each week I’m going to pick and choose a few that strike me (posted as is, no editing). These questions will be posted anonymously of course, always, your privacy is important to me. I will also always be totally honest in my answers, sometimes maybe brutally so, and this means that the answer isn’t necessarily going to be what you want to hear or what you are expecting. And with that said, I’ll start with the first question:
1. i need to detox for a drug test iv done a fast befor a witch that use to live here made a spical potion water for a 3 day fast i dont rember what all was in it can you help
This boggles my mind on so many levels I don’t know where to begin: First, get off the drugs– I know, this statement is a total waste of time, because this won’t happen until YOU decide to get off the drugs for YOURSELF. I don’t know what you are taking, but this 3 day magickal potion fasting crap is a bunch of hooey; I do know that various drugs stay in your system for different lengths of time, and some can still be detected weeks and even months later in your hair follicles. Second– why complicate your life with illegal drugs? You can’t reach your potential while you’re plastering your system with a cocktail of chemicals it was never meant to handle. It weakens your mind, your body; it steals from you the capacity for achievement; it has a negative effect on everyone who touches your life in any way. It is a living death, it’s a trap…but there is a way out, a way to break the pattern, to break the chains that bind. I hope you find it.
2. Hey, I really need your help, my biggest dream is to be like you and ive been researching a lot on witchcraft but I want your help please im willing to do anything please help me! I want to practice witchcraft just as you do!!!
Your biggest dream should be to be like “You”…You are unique, your place in the universe and in the grand scheme of things is important, it’s priceless even. New human beings may be born because of you, people’s lives will change and are touched, molded, expanded, enriched– because of you. If you were not “You”, the picture would not be the same. It’s wonderful that you wish to practice witchcraft, because it is a joyous empowering spiritual path, but you should embrace this path because of your own connection to it, your own spiritual awakening, your own realization of it’s ‘rightness’ for you and the positive implications it will have on your life. If the path of the Goddess is right for you, all that I can do to help you is to encourage you to read, to keep learning, to explore through media, books, through meditation and reflection. If this path is your path, you will know.
3. Hi , I have been trying to register , the reason is they put a dot after com and their aren`t any please help me subscribe thanks
You can’t register at The Witch’s Corner because I disabled that function. When I set this website up, I had no idea that there was an option to set it up as a social site. I guess it was that way for years, and I just left it– pretty much ignoring that feature, but within the past year I found and figured out how to disable this function. It was never my intent to start a social site.
4. How do I get a wand what do I have to do thank u
Ah, the “Magick Wand”…getting a wand can be as simple as finding a beautiful twig from a tree laying in the grass, or it can be as uncomplicated as visiting your local new-age shop and purchasing one– I have wands that I’ve gotten both ways. My first wand was a twig I found on the ground in the backyard, cast off in a summer wind by our beautiful Maple tree. I consecrated it and decorated it with ribbons. My other wand was purchased at a new-age shop and is made from a tree found only in Africa (though the name of that tree escapes me for the moment); it’s all polished and finished and really quite beautiful. Both wands have worked for me; I love both of them; I use both of them; and the fact that one was a free gift from the Goddess and one was purchased at a store has really made no difference.
5. Hello i am sorry to bother you but i was wondering if i could have some advice please. me and my partner are having trouble with his ex who is constantly interfering and stalking him which is beginning to put a strain on our relationship, she has a boyfriend herself but keeps sending my fiance messages like i love you and miss you like crazy etc even though they broke up over 2 years ago now. we fear if we say anything to either of them it may make the situation worse for us. me and my partner don’t get to see each other as much as we would like as he is in the army so is only about 2 weeks every few months but when we do see each other it’s sometimes ruined by her interfering. my fiance proposed on new years and she turned up to the place we were at and ruined the rest of our night. I was wondering if there are any spells i could cast to make her leave us be and re-strengthen mine and my partners love without harming anyone or anything coming back on me? witchcraft has run in my family for years my dad has been a witch for over 24 years now and i too practice the craft, but am having a little trouble with this situation. Any help would be much appreciated. Many Thanks
There’s so many red flags here that it’s hard to see the forest through the trees. First, there’s a name for this woman– it’s “Stalker”. Second, what’s the matter with this fiancé of yours, this big ‘ole army dude, why is he afraid to tell this woman to buzz off, it’s over, finished, leave me alone? She’s been sending him “I love you” messages for two years? If you say anything to “either of them” it would cause trouble?– how so, don’t you think her boyfriend would be interested in the fact that his girlfriend is declaring her love to another man??? The fact that this woman showed up on the night of your proposal and ruined the evening is very telling– 1) why wouldn’t your boyfriend tell her to take a hike; and if she refused, why wouldn’t he call the police to have her removed? 2) they are in close proximity of each other, which makes me suspicious.
Sorry, my dear, there are just too many holes in this story. If your fiancé really wanted this woman out of his life, it seems he would be making more of an effort. As far as magick spells go– you need spells for protection, to protect yourself– and it is only you that I’m concerned with here. You need spells to protect you from the negative energy of this woman; you need spells to protect you from deceit, or to reveal a liar; you need spells to ward negativity in general; and you need spells to guard your living space.
You only see this man for 2 weeks every few months? Me thinks you need to think on this one. It sounds like this man is having his cake and eating it too.
I receive questions on an almost daily basis, in emails, through Facebook, the form at my website, and through other Pagan social sites. I try to answer as many as I can, but I’ve realized that I’m running a losing race at this. I’ve chosen a few questions that have struck me either with a sense of urgency, or maybe even a sense of alarm (like, wouldn’t the answer to this one be obvious!); and I’ve chosen a couple I want to include in this blog; one fits the sense of urgency, and the other one a sense of alarm. These questions are going to be posted exactly as I received them, unedited:
1. can you mix goofer dust into a run drink to make same one sick or maybe wi same cake
No!…no, no, and no!! Goofer dust is not edible and is not safe to consume. The main components in the Goofer Dust that I make myself are cemetery dirt, sulpher (which can be purchased at a green house), and crushed snake sheds. Anyone who doubts the effects of ‘magick’ would soon have their doubts put to rest if they got a chance to watch what happens to someone when Goofer Dust is used against them. I know– I’ve seen it. If you’re going to use this type of magick, use it as it was meant to be used– in the form of spells and mojo; just do not everadminister a poisonous or otherwise unsafe ingredient to someone through food or drink.
Better alternatives: If you are in an abusive situation– go to the authorities or a local women’s shelter for help and assistance. If you’re with someone you can’t stand– leave them. If you’re angry with a boyfriend because he’s cheated on you– dump him and consider yourself lucky to have seen the light and dodged the bullet.
2. Hello! I had some questions about the proper use of stones. Long story short, I have a roommate who isn’t the biggest fan of my life style. I’m very new to Wicca and I’m not sure how to feel about her recent actions. I recently got a kyanite stone for the house and set it up on a bookshelf with a few other of my stones to help the health of our home. She didn’t seem to really care all that much but I woke up this morning and she had knitted a gross around my kyanite stone. I’m hoping this is her way of showing she cares but I also don’t wan’t to interfere with the stones energy. If this impacts it at all will you let me know? Thank you so much!
Her recent actions, even if good intentions were meant (and I’m not so sure they were), to touch something sacred and personal that was yours, is very disrespectful. This would not be my favorite kind of roommate. Have a talk with her; being open and honest is the best approach. My ire is rankled a bit by this, so I’m afraid I’d tell her in no uncertain terms to keep her cotton pickin’ fingers off my stuff– and I don’t care if this is magickal items or mundane things (this is one of my personal pet peeves). At least emphasize that she should not tamper with your altar, candles, stones, etc., as she’s messing with energy that she doesn’t understand.
Another way of looking at this: She is Christian, I’m assuming, and she might be frightened of Paganism or any other spiritual path she’s been taught to fear. Discuss the use of stones with her, as well as Wicca and the fact that this is an earth-based religion similar in many ways to American Native Shamanism, that there is no devil worship, that this is simply a god and goddess inspired spiritual path and the majority of people who follow it have good intentions, pure hearts. You have to try and reassure her that it is not harmful and there’s nothing to be afraid of– which might be a tall order, easier said than done.
3. Dear Amythyst Raine-Hatayama, I would like to know if I could and/or should desire a succubus for a Lover? Is this possible? I have read articles stating it could be done. Although my better judgement thinks a supernatural force can not be controlled for my use and may lose in the long run. Lost in time
Quite frankly, I don’t know, and I haven’t thought about it. D.J. Conway touched on the subject of “astral lovers” in one of her books (can’t remember which one). Personally, I find real-life relationships the most challenging and the most rewarding. I’ll leave astral lovers of any kind for someone else to experiment with.
If I were you, I’d go with your better judgment.
4. Hi, I came across your profile through an online page, where you’ve told that you practise witch stuff and you’re a good soul. I’m interested in being a witch, a good one and I was hoping if you could help me out, tell me your experience, how does it feel, can you still be connected to your god and stuff. I don’t know if its okay to approach you this way, but if you dont mind, I need advices. 🙂
I wish I had the time and energy to type out the oodles and oodles of experiences and advice you’re wanting to hear, but I just don’t. I will suggest that you 1) make use of this blog; its filled with my personal experiences at practicing witchcraft, as well as information on this topic; 2) You’ll also find information along this bent in my book, “The Gray Witch’s Grimoire”.
(I’m a good soul?)…I don’t believe I’ve ever said that of myself, but hopefully, I am.
