Spells To Summon

1. Call Me
You’re going to make a mojo bag for this spell. Create it during the waxing moon. The idea is to connect you and the person you wish to contact in a magical way with magical energy, thus manifesting your connection in the mundane world.

Items needed:
1. A photograph of each of you, or better yet, a photograph of the two of you together.
2. Two paperclips and/or glue
3. A ribbon, the color of which will reflect your relationship with this person– red for a lusty passionate coupling, pink for friendship, white– which will cover any aspect, purple for soul sisters/brothers, green for business partners, etc.
4. A cloth bag, the color of which could reflect your intentions, just like the ribbon– it should be noted that red flannel is the traditional color and cloth for hoodoo magic

If you’re using two photos, glue them together, face to face, attach the paperclips to the four sides, and tie the photos together with the ribbon, making three knots, verbally embellishing each of these knots with your intentions.

If you’re using one photo of the two of you, fold the photo in half so that you are face to face with this individual. Glue the photo together, paper clip the edges, and tie it up with the ribbon, making three knots– stating your intentions loud and clear to the universe as you go.

Drop this photo in your bag. Keep it in a safe place until you make contact, after which, this bag can either be kept to insure continued interaction with this person, or it can be burned and the ashes scattered to the wind– insuring open communication through the element of Air.

2. Summoning Powder
You’re going to create this powder and use it in a variety of ways to summon to you a particular person. You will sprinkle this powder on a piece of clothing you may have that belongs to the target; on correspondence that you’ve saved, or on a new piece of correspondence you’re mailing out; on the target’s property– their doorstep, the walk before their house, etc.– in secret, of course.

However, a safer method, and one which doesn’t have the potential of getting you into trouble, would be to put the target’s photo, signature, or name paper in a red flannel mojo bag and add summoning powder to it. You keep the bag, and you decide what to do with it and when. This also gives you absolute control over the spell, the target, and the outcome– I like this option best.

Crush and blend the following three ingredients, of equal amounts, in your mortar and pestle:

Bay leaves
Cinnamon
Anise

To this succulent mound of herbs, add Drawing Powder (powdered sugar)– in an amount equal to the batch of herbs you’ve just crushed.

Voila’…Summoning Powder.

3. Rosemary Summons
Use rosemary and a pinch of Drawing Powder to summon someone to you that you have feelings for, or whose help you need. This could include someone you have romantic feelings for; someone you love in a platonic way; someone that you’re connected to through blood or circumstance; or someone whose help you need with an issue or personal problem. Think of this spell as a pied piper’s wiggling finger inferring, “Come hither.”

You will gather a handful of dried rosemary, a photo/signature/or name paper of the one you need to summon, and a lovely little fire– either outdoors in a nice fire pit, or a smaller adaptation in your cauldron.

When you get your fire burning properly, drop into it the photo/signature/or name paper; next, the rosemary, sprinkling it carefully so you don’t smother your flames. And finally, just a pinch of Drawing Powder.

As the flames consume the ingredients of your spell, chant:

“Blessed rosemary, I call unto thee;
Summon (name) to come to me.”

4. To Beckon
This is a very gentle spell– yes, the gray witch embraces this type of magic, contrary to popular belief. The purpose of this spell is to give a subtle suggestion to someone you wish to have contact with. This is not an in-your-face summons, but a soft tap on the shoulder; and this spell does not force anyone to do anything they do not wish to do. If the person to whom you beckon likes the feel of the energy you send their way, they will respond.

This spell is all about energy, and that’s all you will use in the casting of it.

Find a peaceful comfortable spot to plant yourself, either outdoors in the midst of nature, or in a space that you’ve structured for yourself to be conducive to meditation and concentrated thought– perhaps complete with soft background music (instrumentals only), candles, and incense.

When you have centered and grounded yourself and cleared your mind of disruptive chatter, hone in on the person you will be sending this energy to. Close your eyes and visualize their face before you, as you do, chant softly either their name– over and over in a mesmerizing sing-song chant, or you can repeat these words:

“Know I call to you,
Think of me,
Think of me,
So mote it be.”

You will continue chanting until you feel the energy build and roll, and when it has become overwhelming, send it off. Release it with a breath, with a hand gesture, with a sigh or a shout. If you’ve never done this type of spell casting before, you will come to recognize very quickly the feeling of building energy. Sometimes it has actually given me butterflies in my tummy, as though I were moving. And you will know when you’ve thrown it out into the world; it will often leave your space in a ‘whoosh’ that sends goose bumps rushing up your legs.

5. Summoning Spirits

*NOTE ~ “Spells-in-a-Jar”…Everything you need to cast this spell can be found at The Witch’s Corner at THIS LINK.

For this summoning spell, we’re going to use Black Cat Oil. Not only is this oil a powerful conduit for summoning spirits, it’s often used to break bad spells, and for protection. This oil will contain a pinch of hair from a black cat– the most important ingredient.

Contrary to popular myth, black cats do not bring bad luck. They are said to be a favorite form for shape-shifting spirits; and this is one reason it’s considered bad luck to harm a black cat– that purring beautiful ball of fur before you might in fact be a magical creature or spirit who is observing you just as keenly as you are observing it.

Black cats are thought to have special magical connections and have long been a favored creature for a witch’s familiar.

First, the Black Cat Oil.

Items needed:
1. Herbs: sage, bay leaves, myrrh– substitutions for myrrh include anise, cloves, lemon balm, and cinnamon
2. Steel wool
3. Iron
4. Black cat hair
5. Oil– for the base…Castor oil for protection, as well as to break curses/hexes/spells; almond oil, to attract the opposite sex

Mix these ingredients together and warm them in your cauldron, just until you smell the herbs, knowing that the energy is released. Add this mixture to a jar, and leave it sit for a night beneath the moonlight.

To summon spirits:
Anoint a blue or purple candle with Black Cat Oil and burn this candle, calling in the spirits.

To summon a particular spirit, such as a loved one who’s passed, I create an altar for this spirit filled with photos, favorite personal items, a piece of clothing having belonged to them in life, etc. Samhain evening would be the most advantageous time to perform a ritual such as this, but you can call spirits to you at any time you desire them.

NOTE:  After years of being inundated with blog comments and emails from people requesting spell casting, or wanting me to choose a spell for them, this has been added to the bottom of these spell pages. I hope this is helpful when it comes to knowing what to expect, and what you will receive. These FREE spells were placed here for anyone wishing to find a spell they can use on their own, instructions included.  These spells can all be found in my books (which are not free), and these pages and these spells can be removed at any time.

  1.  I do not cast spells for people.
  2.  I do not choose a spell for you.
  3.  My Candle Altar Services are not free.  They are also not expensive ($21.00 for a single candle vigil, and $61.99 for a triple candle vigil).

The cost for this service covers the supplies I need to do it (candles, herbs, essential oils, cloth bag, shipping materials, and postage).  The cost for this service also covers my time (dressing the candles, burning the candles– for as long as it takes, creating the mojo bag, and a trip to the post office to mail it off)  My time is important to me.  My prices may change at any time, and I reserve the right to refuse this service to anyone if I’m not comfortable with the vigil intention or the individual.

  1. I just made this to summon my girlfriend who lives in Virginia. She’s from an emotionally abusive home and I’m hoping the spell (number 2) will work and I’ll be able to see her again. We haven’t talked since April because her mother cut off all contact with me (we’re the same age) and I’m really hoping it will work (already said that… I’m nervous). Send good luck my way please!

      • Thank you! However, I was only able to make the bag out of red felt as I did not have any flannel on me (the exchange student staying with us for the summer is allergic to something in flannel so we had to put it all in storage). Will it still work?

        • Of course! I am not a traditionalist, and I use a wide variety of bags, materials, and colors when I create my own mojo bags. I’m super into these pretty sheer bags that you get at the craft stores now (as in craft– art supplies), and I love that I can see through them to actually see what’s inside the bags.

    • That’s done by reading, learning, practicing, just like anything else we learn in life and incorporate into our lives. It can also be done by staying at a high spiritual vibrational level, staying in the light, being honest with yourself about your motives for the magick that you do, working for positive energy and positive outcomes. A lot of people new to witchcraft and magickal spells don’t always like to hear this, but you have to work on a mundane level, as well as a magickal level, to achieve success. For example: someone who does spells for employment but never goes out into the real world and fills out an application will most likely not be successful, magickally or otherwise. Do you see what I mean? Do the magick, but then get out there in the physical world and do the work.

  2. So I have a friend who decided to dissappear randomly without a word but I still feel a connection. Would you know anyone who would help me find out if I know that is true or wishful thinking on my part or if there is a reason both physical or spritual before I do any of these spells,

  3. I have been single for over a year. I don’t want to find someone new, I know she is the one. Is there a good spell you can suggest for me to bring her back ? I want marriage with this woman.

Anything you could advise would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    • The thing is that although You think this woman is “the one”, She apparently has other ideas. You can look through the love spells, command & compel spells, and see if there’s something there for you; but these types of situations are almost always best left to run their course naturally, painful as this sometimes is. It can be so difficult when someone you are in love with doesn’t love you back, and it’s happened to many of us, it’s the stuff of novels, unrequited love. You would be much better off if you were to make an effort to move on. It’s been over a year, it’s time for you to re-enter the social side of life, whether this is locally through people you know, or through a good dating site to try and meet new people. The right person is out there, you just need to make an effort to find her.

  4. Hello, how do I summon someone when I only know their name, what they’ve studied, the city they live in and what they look like? (I don’t have a picture other than the image in my head)

    • Perfect! You have all the information you need to summon someone. Follow the directions on any of the spells, and instead of using a photo, use a name paper. When casting the spell (lighting the candle, chanting the incantation, etc.), focus in your mind on their image.

      • Thanks!! However I forgot to add—this person met me at my workplace and he doesn’t have any of my personal direct contact details, so how will these spells work?? He will just show up at my workplace (that too when I’m present? Or anytime?) looking for me again? Will he further enquire about me from my employers? Will we meet by chance outside of work??? Neither of us have each other’s direct contact details, he doesn’t even know my name 😦 which spell do you prefer in my case? I REALLY want him back 😦

        • Magick works in mysterious and often synchronistic ways. Does this mean that he just might show up at your workplace again? It’s a possibility. As to all your other questions, I can’t answer those specifically because I don’t know. As to which spell to use, this is a decision you’re going to have to make on your own, and then move forward from there. Follow the instructions, put your emotions and personal touches into it. Good luck!

            • I guess you’ll know if you’ve done the spell correctly by the outcome. Sometimes things come to us in very strange ways. As to your second question, “How long do these spells take to work?”. There’s no way to know that. I can’t even predict that with spells I cast myself, much less spells some stranger is casting who knows where with goddess knows what kind of energy. It will work when it’s suppose to work.

  5. Its been 20 years since i have been killing in many wars on many planes in my dreams.when i was 3 years..i was trapped in a chair my witches in my dreams-i killed and escaped–i gained supernatural shit…but i can only feel the liquid like shit in air in this real plane –how to use my powers help ooh my body goes super cold like ice in night i have to concentrate to take my spirit to the other world…i then hop in my-other body and wage war against whatever shit comes my way.My first haunting was witching and vamps//ghosts//demonos& arro gods so how the hell do i summon the one who made me go through this shit and kill it

    • This is a very dramatic post, lots going on in one little paragraph. I might suggest two things: 1) an exorcism, if you honestly believe that you’re possessed; 2) psychological counseling, or the use of someone who’s an expert at dream interpretation. It sounds like you’ve had very disturbing violent dreams from very early childhood on… I strongly suggest the psychological counseling. I don’t advise that you summon anything.

  6. I have a question. I met someone and found out his name. He knows mine. If I use the gentle beckoning spell #4, would he be able to find me. Would this spell put us in contact again?

    Thanks
    Caroline

    • Knowing the name of your target is empowering. This is a gentle spell, and it does nothing more than open a doorway for future possibilities. There’s only one way to find out if it will work…do it. 🙂

  7. hello, im just looking for a easy way to summon a spiritual companion , and i canjt find a way, im only 13 and i am obsessed with spirits, i always wanted to have a spiritual companion like a female ghost watch over me, and a ghost who i could talk too and see, so i was wondering is there a super easy way to contact one or summon one that isnt dangerous and is willing to accept my wish?

  8. Finally found useful spells, my magic grows and I feel the need to encourage it so to benefit from it personally and so others may too, blessed be by all powers above and below.

  9. Two quick questions please? First, is a name paper simply a paper on which you’ve written the person’s name three times? Or is there more to it than that? If so what else is involved please? And second, can spells 2, 3 and 4 be performed at any time of the moon’s cycle or should it always (only) be a waxing moon?

Thank you so much for your help,
    Bright Blessings!

    • Hello, Grey Dove! First, the name paper ~ it’s just a piece of paper with the target’s name written upon it, however many times you feel is right for the working you’re doing. Second, I would have to go back and view spells 2, 3, and 4; but basically, when you’re bringing something TO you, you do magick on the WAXING moon; when you’re sending something AWAY from you, do magick on the WANING moon. And as always, rules are meant to be broken. If you’ve got something time sensitive going on, cast your spell.

  10. Hello I really need your help. I’m looking for jobs but never get in. I want to create a job/employment powder inspired by the summoning powder. Can I create my own powder with rosemary, basil, green cardamom seeds, bay leaf, cinnamon, clove and add drawing powder to it? I checked on the Internet and found these herbs but I want to confirm from an experienced person like you. Can you tell me if these herbs are related to seeking employment and new job opportunities? Please suggest me a way to use this powder. I’ll be very thankful to you for your help.
    Have a Good Day!!

    • Hi, Ashley! You can do a quick herbal check at my website right here, scroll all the way down to the bottom of this great big herbal page. There’s a comprehensive list of herbs at the end: http://www.ladyamythyst.com/magickal-herbs

Here’s some way to use sachet powders, this is a good read!

As I’ve said in other messages, I’m going to be doing a video, or a podcast, to answer questions, it will be so much easier; there’s just too much writing involved for some of the subject matter that’s coming up!…Blessings, Amythyst!

  11. Hello I just came across your website and I just have a general question on the topic of love spells. Love spells are of different types like to draw love (not from a specific person) or love binding spells etc. The reason why I want to discuss this from you because you’re very experienced and know very well what are myths and facts. I’m going through a terrible phase in my married life. I’m thinking of casting a love binding spell. I have been casting spells for a very long time but I have been reading a few articles about love spells on the Internet about how they backfire. The target or person intended instead of falling in love with you starts hating you. I’m got so worried and terrified because already I’m going through a terrible time and if I get bad results my case will get worse. I don’t believe in hiring a spell caster because the best magick comes from within you. Can you tell me whether it’s true or not? Do love spells really backfire and cause a situation like that? If yes, then please share some tips with me to avoid that from happening. I don’t want to make my situation worse and make him hate me. NEVER!! Also it is said that obsessing or thinking about the spell you have cast can affect the process of it’s manifestation. It is suggested to forget about the spell after it has been cast. Please tell me whether these are myths and facts. I’d be very grateful to you if you tell me a foolproof way of casting any sort of love spells. Thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to reply me back.

    • Hello, Samantha! ) I’ve never personally heard of a love spell backfiring with the result being the target grows to hate you; the most common problem with love spells is that time changes things and the person who cast the spell may decide they don’t want this target after all, and in the meantime their target has fallen head over heels in love with them, sometimes obsessively so. It can be very difficult to remove someone from your life once you’ve cast a love spell on them. 2) Yes, obsessing and worrying over a spell can actually ruin it completely. Spell work is all about setting energy into movement, and the negative energy that you generate when obsessing or worrying (or doubting) a spell can interfere with the positive flow of energy. Cast it, and forget it. Hope this answers your questions, Samantha! Blessings, Amythyst

      • Thanks for the answer to my question. I want to ask something to you about the obsession part. Do you mean I should actually forget that man exist in my life or I should forget about the spell. I do get nostalgic or think about him. He’s my husband and we were so happy together and everything is ruined now. Should I also stop thinking about him as well? Or you only meant about forgetting the spell I will do on him.
Can you also tell me how to raise energy regarding my intent? I read in some spell book that raising energy is very important. I always mediate to clear my mind and just feel the air around me. I do this before casting my circle. How do you raise energies for a love spell in fact for any kind of spell and do I have to do that after circle casting u know to contain those energies. Thank you very much for helping me out in this miserable period of my life. I can’t let go of a marriage of 15 years that easily.

        • Yes, I meant to forget about the spell, don’t ponder and worry on it, or you’ll ruin the flow of energy. The subject of “raising energy” is too long to go into here, but I’ll do a video, or a podcast of FAQ in the near future, and hopefully I’ll get a bunch of questions answered for everyone all at one time. Enjoy the rest of this beautiful day, Samantha.

  12. Hi, I really loved the summoning powder recipe and have a few questions regarding the herbs. The anise in this powder refers to anise seeds right? And the drawing powder means sugar. Can I simply use powdered white sugar? Or there’s different type of sugar I should go for. I don’t happen to have a red flannel mojo bag so Can I make one of my own? A different method I came up with is to dust this powder on a candle carved with the target’s name and placing a picture of them in front of the candle. Visualizing that person contacting me. And then letting the candle burn itself out. What do you think about this method? I do want to know how to go about with the powder and the bag when I’m out of candles, I’ll simply place their picture and sprinkle some of the powder then what? Please reply me as soon as you can. I’m eager to know your views and advice.

    • Hi, Tanya!…1) Yes, I use anise seeds; 2) Yes, Drawing Powder is actually just powdered sugar (not the crystalline sugar, POWDERED sugar; 3) If you don’t have a red flannel bag, you can create your own bag, or use a bag of another color of your choice, maybe one of a color that’s associated with the type of work you’re doing, or a bag of your choosing just because that’s what you have on hand, just note that red flannel is traditional to hoodoo, but I’m very eclectic, so I have no problem doing my own thing; 4) Your candle method ROCKS! Great going, girl! 5) When you’re all done burning candles and what-not, just gather it all together and keep it in a safe place until the desired results are reached. Blessings, Amythyst

      • Hi again, Thank you very much for replying me. I wanted to know if this powder affects someone’s free will or not? Can I use a plastic zip lock bag instead of a red flannel? And I’m a little confused about the bag method. I’d just place his picture and sprinkle a little powder while focusing on my intention and is that it? After that I can place the bag somewhere safe until the spell works out. Also can I create a whole batch of this powder? One thing I surely need an answer for is I’m trying to initiate a conversation with a friend of a friend. He doesn’t know me at all, I want that person to make the first move but he doesn’t even know me so I was thinking maybe I could do my candle spell and instead of just visualizing him texting me, I would also visualize a way how he reached me. The reason I’m telling all this is because I don’t know if the powder could make somebody contact you who doesn’t know your existence.
And I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for such amazing contact spells.

        • 1) Realistically, almost all magick affects someone’s free will in some way, even as a gentle ripple sent out through the universe; 2) never use plastic in magickal practices for anything…the rest is pretty much all “yes”.

          • I apologize for the late reply and thanks for letting me know about plastics shouldn’t be used in magickal practices. Can I use a handkerchief instead of a red flannel bag. I don’t know how to make my own. I would keep that person’s picture sprinkle it with some of that powder and wrap it up in a cotton handkerchief like a bundle? Is that a good substitute. I need your advice in a banishing oil that I want to create of my own. I’ve decided to use red pepper flakes, black pepper, red chilli powder, cumin, cinnamon with a base oil like olive oil. Are all these ingredients suitable for banishing? Does the amount of all these herbs must be same? Or I can add less of pepper flakes and more of black pepper. Please advice me as soon as you can, A person is bullying for the past few months and I just can’t take it anymore. Thank you for your time

            • 1) a handkerchief is a wonderfully creative idea! I love it! It would be really cool if the target owned a handkerchief you could get your hands on, but this is an extra big perk that may not be possible, that’s okay 2) those ingredients for banishing are perfect, you couldn’t have made better choices 3) no, the amounts of each ingredient don’t have to be the same; there are practitioners who throw numerology and some magickal numbers into the project– like 3, 5, 7, and 9; (as in 3 pinches of this or that) but that’s a personal thing. If you are watching your pennies, one small pinch of each ingredient will work nicely…Good luck with your magick!

  13. That you very much for the information on CALL ME Spell . my problem is I don’t have his picture anymore so how do I go about it.

  14. Please am new to this site .and I really need help to work with it . I have a lot of financial problem to solve. How do I do the move bag . please I need guide lines. Thanks

    • Sorry, my dear, I can’t help you work with this site, all you have to do is sit down with a cup of coffee (or beverage of your choice), relax, and start browsing. You’ll find your way around, or you’ll find what interests you. Money problems? Look in the right column for a list of “Pages”, you’ll find FREE spells.

  15. Could you teach me a summoning spell for predicting spirits and dark forces in nearby surroundings that does not involve fire? I am not very comfortable using fire and i have a feeling that dark spirits are nearby….i mean i have done simple spells before but it is not working this time.

    • Actually, I don’t have the time to give individual lessons; but you’ve given me a great idea for one of my “How To” witchcraft videos. Check out my Youtube channel; I’m planning on adding more instructional videos in the not to distant future, but until then, here’s a few magical how-to’s:

  16. Hey! For the black cat oil if I don’t have a cauldron could I just use a regular saucepan? Or where would be a good place to get a cauldron (note I’m from the UK)

    • Any fire-proof receptacle will do– key words here, “Fire Proof”. You can purchase cauldrons of all kinds at most new-age shops. If you don’t have any such shops in your area, go to the camping department of any department store– the cast iron pots that they sell for cooking are just the thing. 🙂

  17. Thank you very much! I do have such a list, and while writing it up was a good “exercise” I have wanted to find some productive way in which to use it! I like your suggestions a lot!

Sorry but one other question, I would like to make summoning powder (using it with a sheet such as you describe feels right to me), however, I do not have any anise and will not be able to get any before this full moon. Would I be able to substitute clove (or another spice) for it in the summoning powder? (You mention both anise and clove as substitutes for myrrh in the Black Cat Oil so I wondered.) As an aside, My adored feline companion is not black so I won’t be able to make that oil any time soon.

Again thank you so much, your list of herbs and plants (on your companion site) has been a real inspiration to me and I’m so excited at all the new possibilities one night of reading has opened up!

    Yours greatfully,
    Grey Dove

    • You need the book by Scott Cunningham, “The Complete Book of Incense, Oils, & Brews”. There’s a whole section in this book about substitutions. It’s incredibly handy to have. I’ve used it many, many times! You’ll find it at Amazon.

Anise– I’ll look into this. I’m curious myself.

      • Thank you for answering, and if you do any research please do let me know.

I’d adore the opportunity to read the book you recommend (and so many more) however, I’m blind and sadly these sort of books are few and far between in alternate (accessible) formats. That is why sites like yours are such a treasure to me, it is the only way I can study and research. I’d love to find a teacher but haven’t managed that in my rural area, so the internet is truly my only resource.

        Thanks again!

        • I’ll put my feelers out there to our fellow witches who read my blog or visit my website or FB– let’s see what they come up with! I’m sure that when we all put our magickal heads together, we can accomplish a lot. 🙂 (I had no idea you are sight-impaired…I’m so happy that the internet is accessible to you, what a boon it is!)

          • Thank you so very very much! I would be indescribably greatful for any help/contacts you may be able to make with me in mind.

And I realize you didn’t know, and actually it isn’t something I share often online. I have to admit the witches I have approached via email and shared the added problem )in addition to my rural location and lack of transportation, although the second is definitely linked to my not seeing) have not been helpful at all, so I’ve gone back to keeping that out of most conversations. The internet is indeed blessing but it doesn’t replace books and/or teachers and personal connections. It is a little frustrating when you share that there appears to be (and I have a feeling that appearances are accurate in this instance) no one pagan in my immediate community and you are told go to a gathering you’ll begin making connections there! Probably true but the nearest ones are a minimum of an hour’s drive away, I can’t get there on my own, and even if I did manage it then what, not the kind of event I could wander about in by myself, or not comfortably anyway.

My apologies, I realize this isn’t an appropriate place for this conversation but your understanding response got me a trifle excited.

I’ll get back to work now! Maybe I need to make/use some of that summoning powder for the right Witch! Can one work summoning spells during the waning moon? Or is it best to wait for the new moon?

            Thank you again!,
            Grey Dove

  18. So happy to have found your clear and well thought out site! Thank you for all the valuable teachings. To someone with limited access to print books your site is a blessing.

I wondered, is there anyway of converting the summoning spell to work to draw a person not known to you (one possessing certain qualities and characteristics but not someone currently known to you), instead of a particular individual you have already met?

And just for the record spirit boards never worked for me either! Granted I tried them before I was aware that I am (and was born) a witch, but really no one apparently ever even wanted to stop in and say hello, … well not using a board. They’ve stopped by and greeted me in other ways but never that one.

Thank you very much for all and any additional advice,
    Yours appreciatively,
    Grey Dove

    • Of course there is! And actually, this is the most commonly practiced type of love or summoning spell– and I think it’s perfect. It will give you more of a tailor fit, and it’s marvelous and empowering to put it together. Think, what are you looking for in a mate? Start making a list of attributes, and make sure that you cover ALL areas of life– physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and sexual. When you’ve got it all jotted down, take your time and prepare a beautiful magickal spell paper to burn in a “love” candle, or use with any of the love or summoning spells.

Good luck on your journey– and happy spell crafting!

  19. Hi, I’m new to the whole witchcraft thing, and I want to perform the beckoning spell, but I was just wondering how does the energy get where it needs to go? Can it go to the wrong person?

    • There’s almost always a substitute for any herb or ingredient– spells are like recipes in that respect, a lot of people have their own “favorite recipe” for many of these intentions.

The cinnamon– I’m thinking hot and spicy. I might go with Ginger– it’s got many of the same vibes as cinnamon and is commonly used to “speed things along”, to give an extra zip to any spell.

  20. Thank you for these spells. The summoning spell was a pleasing success. But i would like to know your opinion on the use of spirit boards and how and what to ask any spirit that i may come across while using a spirit board.

    • Hi, Austin!…Spirit Boards are a hoot and I love collecting them and making them; but I’ve never had any success at actually using them. I’ve never gotten dittily squat from a spirit board. Apparently there is nothing out there that wants to talk to me– and least not through a Ouija board. I also would like to add that I use them in unusual ways– I have a favorite that I use for a lap board; and I use them decoratively on tables as a center piece, which I sit bouquets, statuary, or candles upon…I absolutely love spirit boards. And there is absolutely nothing to be afraid of.

      • I fully agree on the Spirit Board topic, I have put MANY various types of boards through every no-no, not supposed to do tests and received absolutely nothing!
I believe if anyone does experience something from them, that it mostly likely is the subconscious of the individuals operating them, many people don’t realize one’s subconscious is a very powerful thing, can make see, hear anything without the conscious knowing.
Want the best results, have a cheap digital recorder on your altar while performing daily/nightly rituals, you will be amazed what you discover.

        • Cool idea!!– the digital recorder. You’re actually the first person (besides me) that I’ve ever heard admit they don’t get anything from a Ouija board. I still love them– some of them are so beautiful, and the old standard is full of nuance and atmosphere. I gave my daughters a pink Ouija board for Yule one year, complete with a pink purse to pack it around in and a deck of Card Questions– they had a hoot with it, but of course, nothing dramatic or supernatural. I believe that everyone’s connection with the supernatural world is unique and personal, and how we connect is just as unique. With me, the connection comes through tarot cards; with one of my daughters, it’s dreams; and my grandmother just plain “knew”…it’s amazing, really, and it strengthens for me the belief in a god, or goddess, or spirit, whatever you want to call it.

It instills in me the idea that there is something bigger than us out there; that our lives have definite destines, yet nothing is set in stone; that we are here to learn and grow and love.

          • Absolutely correct Amythyst, the mundane rule of “different strokes for different folks” is also quite apparent in the magickal world as well. As for that rule applying to Spirit Boards, in my 15 years of practice I’ve always had a problem with these wild stories of possessions, and even abductions by spirits summoned through them that I had to see for myself, and needless to say…highly disappointed.
My whole point to the trials of the “Talking Boards” was if the Planchette moved on its own, there was absolutely no doubt you were in contact with something of another realm, but with four our more hands on it, too skeptical, at least for myself.
But you’re right, they do make excellent decorative pieces, especially for a Ritual Room, I reside in a small antiquated town in Maine, and my house is over 200 years old, my ritual area is an attic, with a window overlooking a hill with thick trees, any “deathly” themed artifact works extremely well in that room, especially when I hear ravens squawk outside in the morning while performing, straight out of Edgar Allen Poe 🙂

  21. So regular anise for the summoning powder and not star anise? My local witch store doesn’t seem to have the regular version and only star anise, so that makes me wonder if it’s used interchangeably here. Thanks.

    • Yes, regular anise in my summoning powder. I don’t know if it’s interchangeable or not– when in doubt, consult a book! …According to Scott Cunningham’s “Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs”, both anise & star anise share the same properties– such as projective energy, planets, elements, etc. I would say that they could be interchangeable; but I used anise in any of my recipes and spells, not star anise, just so you know.

      • Cool. Thank you. That’s what I needed to know 🙂 I haven’t bought either one, so next trip to Whole Foods I’ll look for some.

    • You sound awfully angry, Ivy. You said you’re “new to witchcraft”, perhaps it’s that you need more time, more practice, and new ways to look at and absorb the world of witchcraft and magick.

Don’t rush yourself, and don’t become discouraged. The old pagan ways, though natural to all of us, have been dormant for so long, it often takes time and some gentle nurturing to awaken them.
