The word chakra is Sanskrit for wheel or disk and signifies one of seven basic energy centers in the body. Each of these centers correlates to major nerve ganglia branching forth from the spinal column. In addition the chakras also correlate to levels of consciousness, archetypal elements, developmental stages of life, colors, sounds, body functions, and much, much more.

I would love to tell people how important it is to have their chakras balanced periodically. When these energy centers are not working properly, it can have definite physical repercussions.
Shania Twain is a good example of this. I’ve been watching her reality tv show as she trys to heal and recover from the devestating end of her marriage– her husband had an affair with her best friend. Shania admits that she is very stoic, was raised this way, and doesn’t like to have outward displays of overwhelming emotions. She also refuses to cry about her divorce and her pain. She goes on to say that she has been having trouble with her throat, that she sometimes just can’t get her voice out, and that she’s afraid she will never be able to sing again. After medical testing, she was told that there is nothing physcially wrong with her.
I would love to tell her about the Chakras, and to suggest that her throat chakra is either not working at all (totally bound up, which wouldn’t surprise me), or it is at least not working properly, and she should have these energy centers balanced.
I would really love to tell her about this, as I feel it might very well help her.
