Happy Holidays…as I post this video this week, we’re looking forward to beginning a New Year. I’m hoping that 2017 will be prosperous, peaceful, enlightening, and pleasantly adventuresome for everyone….From Our House to Yours.
I happened to be filming on the back porch when we were hit by a December thunderstorm here in Nebraska USA…a very rare piece of weather for this time of year. If it were doing anything on Christmas Day in Nebraska, it should have been snowing and creating the “White Christmas” effect. I enjoyed the storm, I hope you do too.
PS– my back porch is “winterized” right now, which means that it’s set up for animal shelter; an outdoor fridge for the Big Kettles that go along with winter cooking; and it’s not “Company Ready”…enter at your own risk.

The following video will give you some idea of the landscape I pass on my commute to work five days a week. (Don’t worry, I was watching the road the whole time, I just had my camera in my hand, holding it.) As a matter-of-fact, I didn’t even know what I had gotten on film until I looked at it after I got home from work that day. I had tried this once previously and had the camera inadvertently facing the wrong way; I had lots of film of my hand and the inside of my car. (Yes, I saved the video.)

I am a WITCH on a BUDGET! I’m always thinking of ways to Use What I Have around the house and incorporate it into my magickal practice. One of my favorite things to work with is incense. There’s just something about scent that puts you in a perfect frame of mind for all kinds of magick. It helps me to focus on my intention, and it keeps me centered and inspired with all kinds of good positive energy. We can’t all afford expensive incense and fancy burners. Did you know that you can make Loose Powdered Incense from the everyday ingredients in your kitchen cupboard? The candle I made for this video is a spell candle for love, but for any of my muggles who happen to visit this blog, this is just the basic way to make a regular ole’ non-wax candle. It was so much fun, and even the couple glitches I ran into during the process (which you’ll see) didn’t dampen my ardor, or the final results!

Making a LOVE Non-Wax Spell Candle ~ Items Needed: 1. a glass jar, size of your choice 2. wick 3. crazy glue 4. Crisco Shortening, or any other name-brand solid vegetable shortening 5. a crayon, red 6. herbs ~ rose petal, hibiscus, nutmeg 7. essential oil ~ rose 8. a paper bowl
This project was So Much Fun, and I screwed up during the process! When I poured the hot mixture into my glass container, the wick became dislodged from the small metal tab that held it to the bottom of the jar. Oh dear, what shall we do? Instead of cutting the camera and fixing the problem before moving on, I thought this was a perfect opportunity to show you what I did to fix this problem. It’s all a “learn as we go” process…everything is!
I am hoping to add these candles, in assorted sizes and containers, to the merchandise at The Witch’s Corner. I LOVE making them, so I’m also pretty sure that my daughters will wind up with a multitude of colored candles for various occasions and intentions!
