7 Day Spell Candle for Abundant Prosperity

Today  is Sunday, first day of the week; and it is the night of the Dark Moon.  Both imply to me “new beginnings”, fresh starts, the perfect time to begin new magickal endeavors that will build and perk and grow with the coming days of the week,  and with the waxing of the Moon.  I decided to begin on this day a seven day spell candle for “Abundant Prosperity”, not just prosperity, mind you, but “Abundant Prosperity”.  We might as well hit the universe up for some good staunch energy if we’re going to do it at all, sez I.

Here’s how I did it ~

Items needed:
a large flat plate or platter
1 long green taper candle
6 small yellow taper candles (either the really slender ones, or in my case, I used birthday candles)
6 straight pins
herbs…patchouli, allspice, and mint
Prosperity Oil
green or gold glitter
a pencil to carve into your candle
(you can also use a ritual knife, or some other sharp object, but I prefer a pencil)
matches (of course)

The Method:
1.  Use the pencil to carve your name into the long green taper candle, starting at the bottom of the candle and writing up towards the wick (to draw something TO you).  Turn the candle over, and starting again at the bottom of the candle working upwards to the wick, carve the words Abundant Prosperity into the candle.

2.  Put a small amount of Money Oil in the palm of your hand and anoint the candle, beginning at the bottom of the candle and sliding upwards towards the wick (to draw something TO you).  Do this with each of the 6 small yellow candles as well.

3.  Hold the green master candle by the wick with one hand, and sprinkle onto the candle, beginning at the bottom and moving up to the wick, patchouli and allspice.  Next sprinkle the candle with glitter.

4.  Lay the green taper candle down on it’s side and make 6 marks with the pencil or knife along the candle’s length, as evenly apart as you can.  You can use a ruler if you feel the need to be super precise, but this isn’t necessary, you can just eyeball it.  Once you’ve made these marks, push one straight pin into each of the 6 marks.  You’ve now divided your green taper candle into 7 segments.

5.  It’s time to place your taper candle in a candle holder and set it in the center of your plate or platter.  (If you don’t have a candle holder, you can melt the bottom of the candle with a match and set it onto the plate, but I prefer a candle holder for a large taper that I’m going to be burning over the course of several days.)  Take the 6 small yellow candles and melt the bottom, which will allow you to set them firmly on the plate surrounding the master candle, which I did with my small birthday candles, because they are tiny, they stand well, and they are burned up in minutes.

6.  Take the mint and place a line of the herb around the edge of your plate, either in a circle to move the magical energy along, or in a square, which implies that the prosperity coming to you will have substance, stability, and solidity– I like this idea, so I placed the mint around my candles in a square.

7.  Now your plate or platter is all set up and all that’s left to do is to light your candles.  Begin by lighting the 6 small yellow candles, speaking your intentions as you go…”Bring prosperity to me.  Bring Abundant Prosperity to me.  Bring prosperity to me that comes from a happy place.” Use your own words, tell the candles just exactly what it is you want in very specific terms.  Last, light the master candle, still speaking your intentions, letting this candle know exactly what its job is.

8.  Each day, you will let the master candle burn until one of the pins fall out.  When this happens you will snuff out the candle (Snuff, Don’t Blow); and you will relight the master candle the next day, until another pin falls out; and the next day, until another pin falls out; until on the 7th day, the last pin falls.

9.  After the entire green taper candle has burned itself out, you can use the pins to make a mojo bag or a talisman for your prosperity altar.  You can stick them into business cards, you can stick them into real paper money, you can create a mojo bag to keep in your purse or piggy bank.  There are so many ways that you can use these very powerful tools that are now filled with energy to bring prosperity into your life.

0110161509

By the time I was ready to take this photo, my 6 tiny yellow taper candles surrounding the green master candle had burned completely out.  This is part of a new prosperity altar that I’ve moved into my living-room.  To this altar I added my “Lucky Buddha”, I’ve had him for years, and I love his happy very green energy.  At his feet, are paper play-money bills in each denomination (100, 50, 20, 10, & 5); on top of this paper play money are four real coins in each denomination (a quarter, a dime, a nickel, and a penny).  I will use the coins, along with the straight pins to create a powerful money drawing talisman for my own use.  The “extras” that you see on my altar are my own personal additions to my spell work; the platter and the spell candles are sufficient for the spell itself, and if you don’t want to add anything else, you will be magically set with that.

Crafting Your Magic:

Free yourself of those things that bind you, bind those things you need freedom from.  Cast spells for release, relief, and emancipation; but make sure that you are not unintentionally restricting someone else’s freedoms with your magic, your expectations, or your emotions– such as jealousy.  Remember, your thoughts are pure energy and can set magical vibrations into motion.

Opposite energies are flying high during the Snow Moon.  Use the vibrations generated from this energy to your advantage– remember that “opposites attract”.  Protection magic cast during this time is especially effective and potent.

The Witch’s Desk ~ Interview: Sex & Witchcraft

No, this will not be a running theme on my blog, it’s purely coincidental that my last blog post also dealt with this topic (but on a different level).  The following questions were put to me by a journalist for a magazine interview.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get these questions filled out in time to meet the magazine’s deadline. (My bad, I’m usually very prompt with such things).  However, between adjusting to a full-time “real” job outside the home, and the fact that at my age I had to get myself all revved up and in the mood to answer questions on this topic, it took me a few days to embrace the subject.

Anyway, I’ve decided that these questions and this interview, were just too good to waste, so I’m posting it here on Editorial Wednesday morning from The Witch’s Desk.

1. When did you start practicing witchcraft? What drew you to it?

I cast my first spell in the basement of my grandmother’s house when I was seventeen.  What drew me to it?…Necessity.  I was involved in an unfortunate relationship with a boy, and I wanted him to go away.  So, without a lot of heavy thought, it just seemed to “pop into my mind” to get rid of him with a flaming candle and a photo.  As I recall, this also involved a little incantation, some spitting, and foot-stomping (I was 17, and angry). I honestly don’t know why, or how, I thought of using magick to fix a mundane problem.  This was back in the 1970s; there were no books on witchcraft in our local library, there was no internet.  I figured this one out all by myself.

The biggest, and scariest, thing about this adventure…it worked.

Two to three days later, after this novice attempt at spell casting, the boy’s mother called my grandmother.  She was hysterical and angry, and I honestly don’t know what would have driven her to contact my grandmother with this information, but she said that her son had been rushed to the emergency room hemorrhaging profusely from a stomach ulcer that they did not know he had.  This information was bone jarring and riveting to me!  In the course of this spell, I had used a pen with red blood-like ink to draw a large angry line through this boy’s mid-section.

This was an “Aha!” moment…I realized, without a shred of a doubt, that witchcraft and magick were both very real, and spell casting is both very powerful and can be very dangerous.  It also frightened me to the point where it would be several years before I took up the torch and resumed this path.  It had not been my intention to hurt this young man, but to make him go away.  My in-experience and unbridled emotion mixed with the awesome energy of magick had been untamed, scattered, and out-of-control.

The lesson learned:  Be careful what you do.  Don’t cast spells in anger.  Think about all the possible consequences, and then think on it some more.  Stay on the light side of magick for the most part, but at the same time, don’t be afraid to protect yourself and your family if the situation warrants it.  Be very specific…you’re working with pure energy, and pure energy has no conscious thought process but will take the route of least resistance.  Love when you can.  Hate in moderation.  Try something positive before you do something negative.

2. Does your witchcraft and practice factor into your sex life? If so, how? Has it changed or influenced your ideas about sex?

1)  Does witchcraft and it’s practice factor into my sex life? ~ It use to, but quite honestly, at this stage of life, it no longer does (I’m approaching 60).  After menopause, when the time of The Crone descends, it’s almost as if your head clears from the physical aspect of life (sex), and you suddenly realize how much time and effort and thought went into this topic.  You feel riveted to action, the world opening up in a gazillion ways with so much To Do and Get Done, work to finish and accomplish, new projects to start.  When the time of your sexual peak passes, you will be utterly amazed, and somewhat appalled, at how much sex dominated your life, your thoughts, your actions, and your decisions.

What misconception there is about the third stage of life, a woman’s life…The Crone.  There is no sitting back and stopping to enjoy the moment (or smell the roses, as the old saying goes).  Instead, you rev up and work and move faster than you did in your 20s and 30s.  It is an absolutely glorious stage of life, and I feel sorry for those who do not reach this magickal moment.

2)  How can witchcraft affect your sex life? ~  Magick can be used to affect any area of our lives, and sex is no exception.  I am inundated, on an almost daily basis, by people who want to fix their love lives with magick.  Probably the most significant way that magick can affect someone’s sex life is to speed it up, or slow it down, whichever route is the desired one.  (There are herbs and spells to do both.)  The most requested and popular magick is a spell to get someone attracted to you in the first place; only second to this is magick to keep them faithful.  The most unusual request I had was from a transgendered individual who wanted to know if there were a spell to allow them to switch back and forth between male and female sexual organs (literally)…no, there is not.  No one likes to think of magick as having limits, after all it’s the “Endless Possibilities” that attract most of us to magick in the first place, but magick does not break the laws of physics, and that’s a good thing.  So when you’re thinking about working a little sex magick, be realistic…and cautious.  “Be careful what you wish for”, as the warning goes.

3) Has witchcraft changed or influenced my ideas about sex? ~ As a Pagan, my attitude and ideas about sex were already outside the proverbial box and middle-of-the road suburbia mindset.  As an example, I don’t believe that we are eternally connected to one partner for our entire lives, till death do us part.  (I had an interesting discussion once with a Fundamentalist Baptist wife who foot-stamping declared to me that God had ordained her to be with her husband till the end, no matter how he treated her.)  I believe that people come into our lives at various stages and phases for a reason; I believe that we learn something from each individual we connect with on such an intimate personal level.  I believe that there is a time and season for everything, and people change, circumstances change, and some relationships will come to a natural conclusion.  Most people who live long healthy lives will have several partners during this lifetime, and I believe this is the natural way of things.

My paganism also influences my ideas about sex in that I’m very open to accepting other people’s views and practices, even if their lifestyles or activities would not be something that would be part of my own life.  Basically, when it comes to the bedroom and intimate relationships, whatever is agreed upon mutually by consenting adults is no one elses business.

3. Has your witchcraft taught you anything about sex, or your personal sexuality?

Actually, witchcraft has taught me many things about sexuality ~ embrace your sexuality and celebrate the beauty and mystery of it; sexuality is natural and healthy, do not load it down with the spiritual guilt that most often accompanies mainstream religions; there are many different types of sexuality and sexual practices, each deserving of respect and tolerance in their own right; sex and sexual activity are most definitely included within the realm of the Wiccan Rede:  “Do what ye’ will, but harm none”; witchcraft is all about the movement of energy to generate and manifest physical changes in the world, sex is pure energy, this energy can be harnessed to magickally manifest change.

4. Have you ever cast a sex spell or created a love potion? If so, can you explain a little about the process?

Yes, I have.  One of the love potions I created has a rather unique story behind it.

Last summer my family and I were filming a pilot for a documentary/reality series based on my life and spiritual practices.  During the course of this filming, the producer wanted some witchy “B-roll”, so they sat me down in the middle of my “Wytchy Room”, comfortably nestled on the carpet, surrounded by my Big Black Book, bottles and herbs, stones, incense, and candles.  I was suppose to start “doing what I do”, so I decided to create a Love Potion.

Don’t talk, they told me. (So I’m assuming this is going to be some of that slow-motion pretty witchy visuals used for editing purposes.)  I started with a quart jar.

With two cameramen sitting on opposite sides of me, squatting on the floor, their cameras balanced on their shoulders, and the director and producer watching from monitors in the other room, I began.  I added oil to the bottle, filling it half way.  To this oil I added some herbs, taking my time, sprinkling them in slowly for the cameras…cardamom for love and lust; nutmeg for fidelity; a stone of rose quartz for love and friendship; and the final icing on the cake:  a beautiful whole dried rose blossom.

As the rose blossom sank in the oil and landed delicately on top of the rose quartz, bubbles began rising  from the bottom of the jar, floating gracefully to the top.

Suddenly the producer’s voice cuts through the silence:  “Why is it doing that?”, he asks.

I’m bent over, fascinated, my nose to the jar, watching in mystified delight.  At first I said, “I don’t know, it’s never done this before.”

And then there was a sudden jolt to my system, and in one clairvoyant moment, I knew.

“It’s not me.”, I said.  “It’s you guys.  Love is just flowing along for someone in your crew.”  And I look suddenly at each of the two cameramen seated before me.  The energy was outrageously “rosey”.  I knew it had to be one of them.  And it was.

It was a guarded secret among this production crew that two of them were actually a couple– the tall handsome Russian cameraman, and the beautiful petite field producer.  She asked if she could have this bottle of Love Potion to use at weddings and handfastings, and of course, I gave it to her, still in the dark about the total magick of it all.

It wasn’t until later that we found out the full story.  This young couple went on to get engaged and were married this year.  I like to think of my beautiful Love Potion perking away on the west coast, sprouting love matches, life-long commitments, and beautiful passion.

5. Is there anything related to your practice that a non-practitioner may be able to incorporate into their sex life? What lessons can they learn from witchcraft about sex and sexuality?

If a non-practitioner incorporated some of my occult practices in their sex life, that would make them practitioners. (I just thought I’d point that out.)  Most non-practitioners I know would not be open to using witchcraft and spells to influence any part of their lives, much less their sex life.  That being said, if couples are having trouble with impotence (male), or lack of sexual desire (female); as I said, there are herbs and spells for this type of thing, something that would help put a couple back into sync with each other.  This is a topic that’s so common and that has such mundane roots, I would think even non-practitioners would not be hesitant to try it.  (Consider it magical couples counseling.)

What lessons have I learned from witchcraft about sex/sexuality?  I’ve learned the most important lesson of all…We never stop learning.

The Witch’s Desk: Celebrate October! ~ Full Moon & Samhain

Samhain

(October 31)

The goddess is old and wizened. She’s settling into this stage of her persona to reap the benefit of all that she has experienced, all that has transpired on her journey to this point. She’s preparing for the dark months, gathering her harvest about her, both for her physical survival and her emotional revival, using this time to rest, to gather energy for the future and the light that she knows will return. On this phase of her journey she can afford to sit back in quiet reflection, to shed those things in her life that have become a burden, and to look forward to the end of her journey, or rather, the beginning of the next.

Samhain (pronounced ‘Sou-wen’) is a celebration that has a more somber side than the revelry of modern Halloween. It is a day of remembrance of your ancestors and for those family members who have passed over. Pagan families may set an extra place at the supper table on this evening, to honor those loved ones who are no longer with them. The veil between the world of the living and the dead is thinnest on this eve, and this night is an excellent time to perform divination, or to try and connect with those spirits from the other side.

My Celebration:

Samhain is a big deal at our house. Some years ago we began the tradition of a bonfire in the front driveway, an open house for friends, childrens’ friends, and acquaintances. You’ll find a table set up by the fire pit for a weinie roast, with smore’s for dessert. In the kitchen, I’ve got a large kettle of chili on the stove, and a large kettle of hot apple cider. Costumes are optional, for those who are comfortable dressing up, I say go for it; for those who are not, don’t sweat it. And, of course, there will be a large bowl of candy for the children in our neighborhood who follow the age-old custom of trick or treating.

You always hear that the veil has thinned on this night and spirit contact is almost inevitable if one wishes to put forth some effort. Samhain is also reputed to be a superb night for divinantion of any kind, and with this in mind, I set up a table on the backporch full of divination tools: tarot cards, rune stones, pendulums, oriental divination sticks, and don’t forget the ouija board for those who wish to try their hand communing with the spirits. Guests seem to love this opportunity, and there will be people seated around this table off and on all evening. It gives many a chance to learn about, touch, and use divination tools that they may not be familiar with and might otherwise not have access to.

Samhain Correspondences

Herbs: patchouli, sage, heather

Altar Flowers/Herbs: acorns, apples, pumpkins/gourds, dittany, autumn leaves

Feast Foods: pumpkin, squash, nut breads, sweet potatoes, milled drinks (cider, wine), roast meat, root vegetables

Animals: bats, cats, crows, ravens, owls

Incense: cinnamon, cloves, myrrh, patchouli, pine, mugwort, nutmeg

Rituals/Spells: making besoms, divination, spirit contact, crone magick, working with dark energy, spells for new beginnings

Samhain Recipes

My Pumpkin Pie:

1 16 oz. can pumpkin (about 2 cups)

1 13 oz. can evaporated milk

(but sometimes I use sweetened condensed milk– it makes it more “chiffony”…is that a word?)

2 eggs

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 sugar

the spices:

Cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and a dash of salt. Most recipes call for 1/2 teaspoon each, but I’m much more generous with my spices!

the crust:

I tried for years to learn to make a good pie crust, and I almost gave up out of frustration, then I found this recipe. It’s almost fool-proof, no kidding.

2 and 1/2 cups flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup shortening

1 beaten egg

1 tablespoon vinegar

1/4 cup water

Mix the dry ingredients together and cut in the shortening, as usual. Then combine the egg and vinegar, stirring it up a bit, and add this to your dry ingredients. Add the water a dash at a time as you work it in, you’ll be able to tell when you get a good texture.

Bake at 400 degrees the first fifteen minutes, and at 350 degrees for the next 30-40 minutes. When you can stick a butter knife in the center of the pie, and it comes out clean, your pie is done.

Hot Apple Cider

I have a *Huge*– did I say huge?– kettle that I use to mix up my cider. This sits and simmers all afternoon on the backburner of my stove, wafting a wonderful aroma throughout the house.

Ingredients:

5-7 large jugs of applejuice

8-10 bags of peach tea

a handful of cinnamon sticks

and a large metal tea ball filled

with whole cloves and allspice

You can leave a shaker of nutmeg sit on the counter & anyone who wants to add a dash of this spice to their mug of apple cider can do so.

If you don’t like this cider full force, you can dilute it some with water to suit your own taste.

The Autumnal Equinox: Mabon

The Goddess, in the death throes of the growing season, is at her most beautiful. As she moves towards the final harvest, in preparation for the dark days to come, she shines with the brilliance and color that is mirrored in the physical world as golden leaves, ripened fruit, withering vines, and frost-covered grass. The spiritual aspect of this stage is one that is just as beautiful, emphasizing once more the idea of completion and accomplishment, of finding that moment within development that culminates with depths of wisdom and the light of knowledge.

This day brings equal hours of light and dark, a second celebration of perfect equality. Beyond this day, light will gradually fade as the dark season descends upon the world. At this time of year, the ancient Druids would burn a large human-like wicker figure as part of their celebration. This figure represented the vegetation spirit, and indeed, the heralding of the dark season would bring an end to the growth and flowering of summer.

Modern Pagans may celebrate this holiday with many of the foods connected with this time of year in their area. Decorations may include leaves of autumn hues, sunflowers, pumpkins and gourds. The most amazing thing, I believe, is how this miraculous milestone of earth and time passes almost unnoticed by the mundane multitudes.

My Celebration:

I welcome the growing darkness that I know will follow Mabon. Moment by moment, day by day, it creeps up almost unnoticed. Until one day, you glance at the clock and realize that afternoon is barely over, evening has barely begun, and it is pitch dark outside.

My favorite way to celebrate Mabon is by lighting candles all over the house. In doing so I’m actually celebrating the darkness with light.

I light white candles for cleansing and purification, for Spirit, for the Goddess. I light white candles to wipe the slate clean, to start new lists, to begin new projects. I light yellow candles to celebrate the sun and its grace and dignity as it steps back to make way for the moon. I light yellow candles to celebrate communication and everything I’ve ever wanted to say to anyone, and those things I might regret not saying. I light yellow candles to fill my mind with words and thoughts that run into sentences and paragraphs and pages. I light lavender candles to celebrate the spirits I know are there but cannot see. I light lavender candles to acknowledge that little voice in my head, the one that’s saved my life over the years, not to mention my sanity. I light green candles to celebrate and embrace the earth. I light green candles to celebrate and embrace this wonderful physcial body that is mine. I light green candles to bathe in the glow of good health and prosperity. I light green candles to feel the soles of my bare feet connect with the dying grass, the withering garden, the falling leaves.

I light one tall black taper candle that is me, to celebrate the spark of life I carry, to celebrate future days to come, to celebrate my passage through another year…and to acknowledge and embrace my mortality.

Mabon Recipes

Carmel Apple Crumb Treat

2 Golden Delicious apples

4 small (or 2 large) Granny Smith apples

1/8 cup fruit juice

1/3 cup loosely packed light brown sugar

2 tablespoons butter

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

12 soft caramel candies

1/2 cup quick rolled oats

1/2 cup flour

1/3 cup tightly packed light brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

1/3 cup butter

Slice and core the apples, mixing the types together.

Pour the fruit juice into a large pot. Put about a third of the apple slices into the pot. Sprinkle with half the lightly packed brown sugar and dot with 1 tablespoon of butter. Add more apples and the remaining brown sugar and butter, and 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger.

Turn the heat on Low and simmer for a while. Stir apples occasionally, until they start to soften. The Golden Delicious will pretty much turn to mush, binding together the slices of Granny Smith. This takes about an hour or two, depending on the heat and the apples.

Meanwhile, cut the soft caramels into quarters.

Preheat the oven to 350ºF.

To prepare the crumble topping, stir together 1/2 cup quick rolled oats, 1/2 cup flour, 1/3 cup tightly packed light brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger. Slice 1/3 cup butter and add to bowl, then cut it in with a butter cutter until the mixture is loose and crumbly.

Spray a ceramic or glass pie plate with cooking spray. Spoon in about a third of the apples and spread them on the bottom. Top with half the caramel pieces. Spoon in another third of the apples; top with the remaining caramel pieces. Spoon in the remaining apples and spread them smooth. Use another spoon to sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the top of the apple filling.

Bake for 20-30 minutes until filling is bubbly and topping melds into a lightly golden crust. Serve hot.

August ~ Full Moon Energy

The Full Moon for August ~ What energies are going to come into play for each of us? Summer is winding down, the seasons will be in transition soon, and this is the key. A lot of emphasis has always been put on “Spring House Cleaning”, but cleansing your home (both in the physical mundane aspect and as in clearing energy) is just as important this time of year. We’re going to be spending the coming winter months ensconced inside this space. We’ll feel so much better if our house is clean and tidy, both aesthetically and spiritually.

Barley Moon
Herbs: rosemary, jasmine, lilac, violet, calamus
Stones: bronzite, peridot, green sapphire
Scents: frankincense, heliotrope
Colors: yellow, gold, green
Trees: hazel, alder, cedar
Deities: Ganesha, Hathor, Hecate, Nemesis
Astrological Signs: Leo, Virgo
Elements: Earth/Air

Crafting Your Magic:
The Barley Moon is the time to reap the harvest of magic cast at the beginning of the summer season. It’s a time for the powerful assertive energy of Leo to give way to the calmer vibrations of Virgo. Do magic at this time to cleanse before the winter, cleansing not only your personal space, but intangible aspects as well. Clear out unwanted rubbish, whether it be inertia, conflict, indecisiveness, or some other personal weakness. As the summer winds down and wildlife begins to prepare itself for the dark months to come, this is where the heart of your magic lay as well.

The Witch’s Desk ~ Children with Disturbing Behavior

ladyamythyst.com

The following question was submitted to me and will be posted exactly as received, except that any personal names or specific places will be X’d out to preserve anonymity:

Amythyst, Im happy to find your blog regarding spells. Sadly some requirements arent available here in the  XXXXX. Im having a hard dealing with my stubborn, disrespectful, bully 9yr old stepson. He always hit his siblings and would always ruin our stuff secretly. he is also hitting himself from time to time. he is hard to tolerate and he doesnt think and act like a 9tr old kid. no school wants him anymore. he is always angey. and he is strong. please help me. please. 😦

First, I’m going to say, right off the bat, that children who are exhibiting disturbing or harmful behavior are in need of professional help, and please get to this before you do anything else.  Only after you’ve seen that this child is receiving professional medical or mental health care, then go one step further to add spiritual assistance in the form of rituals, spells, or prayers.

Children who behave like this have issues, obviously, and more often than not, this type of child is acting out in this way because he is hurting.  Think of all the trauma he’s been through in nine short years with the divorce of his parents.  And I don’t even have the whole story– how he relates to his parents, both together and individually; what his past home life was like; what his present home life is like; if there are any mental health issues that run in the family, etc.  This is very sad, it really is.

I can also see how this situation would be very difficult for you as well; and I think the whole family should seek counseling from a professional to help you all deal with your familial connections and individual issues.

As far as your magickal question…First, any ingredient in any spell can be substituted.  I’ve said this before; think of a spell like a magickal recipe.  You substitute ingredients in mundane recipes all the time– to improve it, to make it more to your taste, to create something more personally suited.  I’m amazed that there are people who are scared to death to try modifying a spell, or don’t even realize that this is their prerogative.  Go for it.

As far as spells for this situation, I would go with cleansing, purification, protection, and HEALING spells.

The best of luck to you and your family,
Blessings, Amythyst

At Tumblr ~ My Week in Review

I’ve been trying to post diligently a weekly “catch-up/review” post at my Tumblr page.  This is a good way to gather all the Stuff I’ve been doing all over the internet all week into one spot.  (I also enjoy playing with Tumblr).  Here’s this week’s post, and I’m betting that I’ve got a few things up my sleeve in this internet world that you might not have been aware of, because just like me, you can’t be everywhere at once. 🙂

And how was YOUR week?!

“You Are Beautiful!”~Self-Esteem Oil

To Amythyst, from Joe

A few days ago Joe bought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers, and they are just now beginning to fade.  I decided to make an oil with the flower blossoms while they’re still fresh-looking and beautiful.  My oil is a self-esteem oil, made to promote the essence of beauty, and to reinforce the energies of strength, brilliance, success, and accomplishment.

You are Beautiful!~Self-Esteem Oil.

I didn’t make this oil to sell, but rather for myself, creating one more Beautiful Witchy Thing to display in my Witchy Room.  It also seemed like a great way to preserve the beauty of the flowers and to make use of their magickal energy.

Here’s my recipe.  Make your own Self-Esteem Oil!

The Flower Blossoms~

Pink miniature tiger lilys
Red Rose Buds

The Herbs~

Whole Allspice
Anise Seeds

The Oil~

Mineral Oil
