Past Life Reading: Spiritual Peace & Relationship Closure

Tarot Reading:  “Past Life”
Deck:  Druid Craft Tarot Deck

1. Basic Soul Nature/upon entering this life

6/swords…King/pentacles…The Fferyllt

You were one who would rather run than fight; you also had a tendency to back down or retreat when the going got rough, or the situation was more than you wanted to handle at the moment.  This behavior may have been because you were all about being in control, and if you lost this position, in whatever circumstance, it made you feel uncomfortable and vulnerable.  You had the spirit of the seeker, the sorceress, the magician, the healer; you held close with the magic of the earth and the spiritual practices of an ancient time.

Also……the ocean, or the seas, played a large part of your life, and you may have spent a great deal of time traveling by boat.  You also kept a secret, something so significant that it often felt like an entity standing just behind your shoulder, it’s representative of being haunted by something or someone.  (If you still have this feeling– ‘something’ there, something watching you, something behind you; this is where it’s coming from.)

2. Environment

4/pentacles…Princess/cups…4/swords

Your background was such that money was an issue.  I get the idea that poverty was an accepted way of life for you, maybe even desired.  Your immediate surroundings were peaceful, meditative, and had an air of solitude and refinement about it.  It was an atmosphere that was conducive to meditation and prayer.  I believe that during a past life, at some point, you were living within a monastery or a convent.

Also……the communion chalice; autumn; baptism by the river; a long period of solitude (whether enforced or voluntary, I’m not sure); perhaps a long period of healing after an illness.

3. Early Years

Ace/pentacles…Princess/pentacles…The Hanged Man

Your childhood was one of comfort, possibly even wealth, but this came to an abrupt end, and I feel that this was a decision rather than through circumstances beyond your control– this is why I have the very strong feeling that you willingly sacrificed a comfortable life for the convent or monastery.

Also……the spiral (as a symbol, perhaps as an indication of time frame here.  I have the feeling of transition from paganism to early Christianity.)  Even in your childhood in this life, there is the feeling of deep thought and meditation, reflection, and a strong sense of spirituality.

4. Education

5/swords…Prince/swords…8/swords

You learned early on that you detest conflict, and you would go to great lengths to avoid it.  This knowledge may have come from experience, experience in facing opposition to some of your life choices.  These cards seem to reflect more of life’s education than any formal learning, as indicated by the second card of this set:  verbal battles left you feeling defeated, depressed, and trapped; and this may still be a holdover in your present life.  I have a feeling that you will go out of your way to avoid verbal confrontation; and this, too, is something that’s left over from previous life experience.

Also……once more, even with this set of cards, is the awareness that you feel haunted by something ‘behind you’, either literally as though something is physically close to you, bothering you in some way, or the feeling that you have to watch over your shoulder, including the ‘hair standing up on the  back of your neck’ feeling.  You may also feel ‘up in the air’ over something in your life, unable to come to a decision.

5. Accomplishments

9/swords…5/cups…4/cups

Your accomplishments in previous lives have to do with overcoming personal demons:  you’ve had to learn to survive periods of depression and anxiety; you’ve had to learn to stop procrastinating and face issues and situations that needed your attention, things that you may not have wanted to deal with at all; you’ve learned to handle suffering and mourning with courage, and to come through the experiences as a stronger individual.

Also…the feeling of being chased (there it is again, the feeling of ‘something behind you’, whether literally being chased by something, or figuratively by something from your past, or your past lives.)

6. Occupation

Ace/swords…10/cups…The Fool

Your occupation in a previous life involved mental endeavors, study, and learning, the world of the scholar.  It was also centered around the home, or a facsimile of such, as the convent or monastery would be, involving a tight-knit society, or group.  At times, your occupation, or your quest for knowledge, experience, and answers led you to travel; this may well have also included journeys of the mind through meditation and deep thought.

Also…again, ‘autumn’ comes to mind (there must be some significance to you, this season, both in your past lives as well as your present); birth– perhaps this is the season of your birth, present or past, or someone who is significant to you was born during autumn.

7. Social Status

9/pentacles…The Sun…7/pentacles

You were someone of high status in this past life, perhaps a Reverend Mother, or a Mother Superior, as this reading points so strongly to a religious spiritual life.  You also held financial responsibilities within this position as well.

Within this realm, you were happy, content with yourself and your accomplishments, at peace with the world.

Also…birds were important to you and relevant somehow with your position– such as homing pigeons, carrier pigeons, or the hunting birds, like the falcon or a variety of hawk.  One or more of these creatures may also be your totem animal in this, your present life.

8. Relationships

King/cups…The Tower…King/swords

At some point in your life, probably very early on, you were caught in a love triangle between two very powerful men.  This led to some sort of disaster for you, figuratively as well as literally. This may have had something to do with your decision to devote your life to the spiritual world and divinity, to the contemplative life of the convent.

Also…the idea of a worn-out sense of loyalty (this idea is coming from the King of Cups), a sense of weariness connected to this King.  The King of Swords has a completely different energy– virile, strong, verbally eloquent, high energy.  What came to transpire between these two individuals in your past life was life altering for you, creating a chaos and disaster that you may not have healed from even within this life-time.  If you feel uneasy about relationships in general, if you find it difficult to trust and you tend to take things more slowly than most, this is where it may all stem from.

9. Family Life

The World…3/swords…6/wands

These cards seem to define and corroborate the previous cards– the three of swords is symbolic of a tragic love triangle.  The World stating that this situation came full circle to a conclusion; and the six of wands suggesting that you came through this experience bruised but wiser.

Also…the four elements (earth, air, fire, water), and with these elements a sense of sexuality in it’s most pure form, chivalry, power and strength from a feminine perspective.  In this past life, you appear to have suffered a blow to the heart which, as the previous cards stated, might effect how you form relationships in this life-time.

10. Death

7/swords…Rebirth…Strength

Your death in the past life most high-lighted within this reading appears to have been a very quiet solitary death at an advanced age for the time period it was (during the early years of Christianity).  I feel that it involved a fever.  I also get the impression from these cards that within one of your incarnations you were a male, but I don’t feel that you lived past childhood, dying as a young boy.

I feel that one other incarnation is revealed with these cards, and this is a young, very independent strong-willed pagan woman.  Beautiful and free-spirited, with a strong bond to animals.

11 & 12. Lessons Learned

King/wands…Prince/pentacles…2/cups

It’s all about relationships and learning to fit the pieces together in a constructive desirable way.  It’s a matter of seeking your soul mate, and this may be a journey that will last through several lifetimes till you finally get it right.  It’s about learning to balance being in control, and knowing when it’s okay to let go of the reins and let someone else take the lead.

The Star…5/pentacles…2/pentacles

It’s about learning to find balance in all areas of life, it’s about learning that extremes are never good, even if you think they might be at the time.  It’s about learning to deal with adversity in a constructive manner, learning to be an optimist, learning to handle the mundane aspects of life with this same type of equilibrium.

13 & 14. How your past life affects your present life.

The High Priestess…The Moon…The Chariot

You tend to seek spirituality in this life-time, just as you did in past lives, though the journey may take you on totally different paths for each incarnation– it’s all about the journey, not the final destination.  It’s about honesty, dealing with harsh realities, it’s about learning to follow your instincts, to rationalize the bumps in life, to recognize those people who are constructive to your life and those people who are destructive, and it’s about having the strength to weed them out.

It’s about not being afraid to try new things, to follow new roads, to seek new adventures.

Cernunnos…The Lord…6/cups

It’s about learning from your past, not only past lives, but the past stemming from your present life.  It’s about recognizing and acknowledging those people you’ve lost contact with, it’s about reopening communication.

It’s about learning to deal with male energy, both from past life experiences, as well as the present.  It’s about learning to define positive aspects of the men in your life, about striving to develop positive relationships with a positive attitude. It still boils down to finding your soul-mate in the end.  It seems to be a journey you’ve been on for quite some time.  Along the way, it’s also been a spiritual quest, and a very successful one, it would seem.

Tarot: Lesson 1

The following is the an introductory lesson in a series of online tarot lessons that can be purchased at my website:
The Witch’s Corner… click  Here

Lesson 1: A Card A Day

This exercise is going to go a bit deeper than merely choosing one card and jotting down your interpretations. We’re not going to leave it at that. We’re going to take this card apart, looking at it from levels unthought-of and through aspects not usually brought out in most tarot classes.

To begin, pick your card. You can shuffle your deck and cut the deck, choosing a card any way you want to. You can spread them out in a big messy pool, back sides up, and choose a card this way if you wish. Just find one card, one card that you select out of the entire deck.

1. In your notebook, write down the name of this card.

2. Is this card a major arcana or one of the suits?

If this is one of the suits, write down which element and season it is associated with. (Refer to page 35 in my tarot book.)

If this is one of the major arcana, write down which astrological sign and element this card is associated with. (Refer to page 171 in my book.)

Write down the number associated with this card. If the card has a two digit number, add the numbers together, and keep doing so, until you get a one digit number. Write down the numerological meaning for the number you arrived at.

(Page 189)

3. Read the traditional meaning for the card that you drew.

If it’s a major arcana card, see page 12. For a more detailed version, turn to page 13.

If it’s a card from one of the suits, Ace-10, see page 38; for court cards, turn to page 64.

4. Now put my book down and pick up your card.

Relax, take a deep breath, ground and center yourself if you know how to do this and if you feel the need. Look at this card, not in a rushed or expectant way, but in a contemplative mood. Allow your mind to be open, and allow your mind to wander. Pay attention to what you mentally ‘see’ and feel, pay attention to impressions that are coming to you. Take your time, all the time you need.

When you are ready, write down…

a) The first thought that came to you when you looked at the card. Include details, as much detail as you can. Did this thought involve a scenario or a stagnant scene? Were there characters or animals? Objects or locations?

b) The first person you thought of when you looked at this card. Is it someone you are close to, or at odds with? Is it a living person, or someone who is deceased?

c) What color came to mind? What do you associate with this color?…including people, places, objects, memories, feelings.

d) Did a memory come to mind when you viewed this card? If so, is it pleasant, or unpleasant? Does it include people you are still in contact with now, or people who have passed? Does it include particular animals, objects, a specific time period?

If so, write it down– in detail.

e) Write down any and all random impressions. This includes impressions and details that you might feel make no sense, at least not at the moment. Write down how you feel about the card, and what emotions surfaced.

5. If you have any dreams on the first night after viewing this card. Write this dream down in your tarot journal– in as much detail as you can recall.

Tarot Card for the Day…

10/pentacles (Reversed)…the golden coins are falling away for someone, floating to the ground like huge soap bubbles going to pop when they hit bottom.  If it’s you this card is for, you’re involved with a family situation, perhaps multi-generational.  You’re trying to conduct business without every member of your household being in on it, and this is where the trouble might lay.  The idea of ‘co-conspiracy’ comes to mind, but also the idea of someone who feels left out, perhaps threatened in some way by all the secrecy they feel going on around them, paranoia and suspicion also come into play with this scenario.  Of two people involved in this situation, one carries the value of honesty and loyalty, and the other does not– know this and work from there.  Money can be such a sticky subject, even among family, and sometimes especially among family.

“Tarot for Grownups”…sneak peek

(an excerpt from “Tarot for Grownups”)

4) Who’s Who?– Court Card Personality Types

Each court card represents archetypical energy. Each court card also represents a personality type, and when someone comes for a reading, it’s generally to uncover those things about other personalities that may be on the negative side. This fact might dismay some people, but it’s the truth. No one feels the need to uncover more information about an individual who is not having a negative impact on their existence. We don’t need more insight into someone who is loving, cheerful, agreeable, and sweet. We need more insight into the bastard who’s screwing up our life…

Review by Dana Wright

“Tarot for Grownups is an often bawdy and brutally honest tour through the intricate landscape of tarot card reading. Filled with witty thoughts and blunt appraisals, author Amythyst Raine shares her very personal relationship with the cards. Not one to stay on any traditional path, Raine is in the trenches, teaching you to really see the cards as an experience on the whole, not as a grueling memorization project you will get frustrated with and drop at the next opportunity. No, instead, Raine explains how she learned to view the cards and wastes no time doing it. Her descriptions of the cards and their relationships to one another and the querent are spicy and full of intelligence. This is definitely a book for adults; make no mistake, but an excellent way to gain a different perspective on tarot and the puzzle pieces that make up this art…”

An Online Reading…

tarot15.jpg picture by Amythyst1

Below is an actual tarot reading
for one of my clients:

1. Your husband’s job…

 The Wheel of Fortune

The Fool ® 2/pentacles King/swords ®

It looks as though a change is coming, and it could be a change that turns things topsy turvy, at least for a while. (Note: spinning and cutting come to mind, weaving, as well as objects of a circular nature.)

The Fool generally sees us on a journey, whether a physical journey, or something new which we’re beginning…a new path, which reinforces our first card. This man either has an angel on his shoulder, or he has someone behind him from whom he draws support. It also appears that with this change will come greater financial balance. Also, the idea of “killing two birds with one stone” and “a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush”, comes to mind– this seems strange, even to me. I don’t know if there is a literal connection somehow to birds, or these cliques will have something to do with your husband’s employment in a figurative way.

The King of swords is a proud man who sometimes tends to take life too seriously. It would be to his benefit to look at the lighter side from time to time. Laughter reduces stress. (Note: I got the impression that this King needs some down time and that stress might be a factor in his future in some way.)

falldivider.gif picture by witch_of_endore

 2. Your third grandchild…

Temperance ®

 The Hermit 8/wands ® 8/pentacles

This will be a child of balance, patience, and determination; someone with fortitude who doesn’t give up easily, but keeps plugging away until the desired goal is reached.

This is also a solitary child, someone who isn’t afraid of being alone, but rather, gathers strength and maintains serenity by actively seeking ‘quiet time’. She (or he) will not act swiftly, will not in fact do much of anything quickly, but will have more of a slow and plodding nature about them.. They will certainly not be impulsive. Don’t become frustrated when you want something done quickly and it isn’t, ‘cause this child is going to do things in their own good time on their terms.

This individual will know, from a very early age, what their lifework is, and may begin an apprenticeship/training in this field at a very early age, possibly in the late teens/early twenties.

(Note: I don’t know where I get the ‘they’ from, but since it came on its own accord, I’ll leave it as is.)
falldivider.gif picture by witch_of_endore

3. General Reading

The Chariot

 Princess/cups 3/cups Knight/cups

First, is someone getting married? If the aren’t right now, they will be in the future.

I felt, with the first group of cards that your husband’s change of employment would involve: 1) a move, 2) travel, 3) a long commute; and this concept is enforced here with The Chariot. Someone is going somewhere.

The Knight of cups brings to mind the story of the frog and the princess, Sir Lancelot, and the idea of dark water, totally disconnected thoughts…this is what happens when you use the intuitive method of reading the cards. If any of this doesn’t make sense to you now, it probably will in the future.

Also, autumn comes to mind, perhaps in relation to a time element for some of these events to play out. Actually, I feel that autumn is going to be very significant to you in some way. And I also feel as though water plays some significant role here as well– this could be actual physical water; such as a lake, river, creek, pond, etc.; or it could involve the element of water; which includes such things as emotions, dreams, intuition, the west, the color blue, and Mondays. It looks as though everyone is going to have their hands full, when it rains, it pours, as the old saying goes.

falldivider.gif picture by witch_of_endore

*About the reading:  The ‘they’ in this particular reading came from the fact that I was not only picking up the unborn child, I was picking up a parent as well.  As the mother told me, it was ‘freaky’, and I had it down pat, even to the apprenticeship.

The bond and connection between parent & child is the strongest of all human bonds.  Remember this when you’re doing readings, just as in this case–  when reading for one, you very likely will pick up the nuance of both.

Chakras & The Tarot

You can read tarot for the chakras, the seven main energy centers found in the human body and connected to physical organs and their functions. By doing so you will receive invaluable insight into not only your client’s emotional well being, but also their physical strengths and weaknesses, often revealing health issues which need to be addressed.

The Chakras
From the bottom up:

Root Chakra

Location: in the perineum, at the base of the spine

Organs: adrenal gland

Color: red

Element: Earth

Crystals/Stones: smoky quartz, bloodstone, ruby, hematite

Planet: Saturn

Astrological Connection: Capricorn

Positive Archetype: Mother

Negative Archetype: Victim

The root chakra is connected to our base primal instinct for survival. It encompasses the ancient wild side of our persona…the fight or flight instinct, the overpowering urge to sustain our life at all costs. It’s this chakra that comes into play when we feel threatened, when we are faced with a physical challenge, and when we come up against insurmountable odds. It is the strength of this chakra that pushes us to do whatever we must in order to survive.

Sacral Chakra

Location: two inches below the navel, two inches into the pelvis

Organs: ovaries/testes

Color: orange

Element: Water

Crystals/Stones: citrine, carnelian, tiger’s eye

Planet: Jupiter

Astrological Connection: Cancer, Scorpio

Positive Archetype: Emperor/Empress

Negative Archetype: Martyr

The sacral chakra enables us to enjoy pure unadulterated pleasure. This chakra is linked to the world of our emotions, our desires, and the fulfillment of whatever is found here. The sacral chakra connects to the ‘feel-good’ energy of the universe, and when it is working properly it allows us to experience pleasure without guilt. In a damaged state, this chakra can create all kinds of aberrations, with behavior and mental issues stemming from overwhelming guilt and the need to survive it.

Solar Plexus

Location: directly below the sternum

Organs: pancreas

Color: yellow

Element: Fire

Crystals/Stones: amber, topaz, citrine

Planet: Mars, Sun

Astrological Connection: Aries, Leo

Positive Archetype: Warrior

Negative Archetype: Servant

The Solar Plexus is connected to our ego, our self-worth, our inner strength, and our ability to stand up for ourselves and recognize our voice as valuable. This chakra enables us to make decisions with resolve; it celebrates our freedom of choice. The health of this chakra determines the amount of moxie you have.

Heart Chakra

Location: center of the chest

Organs: the heart

Color: pink, green

Element: Water

Crystals/Stones: pink rose quartz, aventurine, jade

Planet: Venus, Sun

Astrological Connection: Libra, Taurus

Positive Archetype: Lover

Negative Archetype: Cynic

The heart chakra rules our emotions and our ability to love, to love ourselves and to love others unconditionally. A healthy heart chakra allows us to feel fully compassion and empathy for all living things. A dysfunctional heart chakra renders us incapable of real love and leaves us stoic and cynical, unable to successfully connect in relationships of various kinds or on a variety of levels.

Throat Chakra

Location: the base of the throat

Organs: vocal chords, larynx

Color: light blue, turquoise

Element: Air, the ether (containing all energy)

Crystals/Stones: blue lace agate, turquoise

Planet: Mercury

Astrological Connection: Gemini, Virgo

Positive Archetype: The Communicator

Negative Archetype: The Mute

The throat chakra centers on communication, verbal communication, that which is sacred to us– our voice. A healthy throat chakra allows us to express ourselves with fluidity and eloquence; a dysfunctional throat chakra renders us unable to communicate our thoughts successfully.

Brow Chakra

Location: between and slightly above the eyebrows

Organs: eyes, sinuses

Color: indigo

Element: Water

Crystals/Stones: lapis lazuli, sodalite

Planet: Moon

Astrological Connection: Sagittarius, Pisces

Positive Archetype: Wise-Woman

Negative Archetype: Intellectual

This is the chakra of the Third Eye, our intuitive center, the psychic aspect of our human existence. This chakra allows us to connect with the universe on a magickal level; this chakra allows us access to information and knowledge we would otherwise have no way of tapping into. When this chakra is not working correctly, our intuition is shut down, and with it the link to our inner selves.

Crown Chakra

Location: the top (crown) of the head

Organs: brain, spinal cord

Color: purple (violet)

Element: all four– earth, air, fire, water

Crystals/Stones: amethyst, purple fluorite, alexandrite

Planet: the Universe

Astrological Connection: Aquarius

Positive Archetype: Priestess/Priest

Negative Archetype: Egotist

The Crown Chakra allows us to intellectually connect with higher powers. It allows us to tap into spirituality with an underlying understanding that we are part of a larger plan, a bigger picture. It connects us to the Source, also known as God, the Goddess, the All, Jehovah, and by many other names. It connects us to the creator as well as the creation.

Tarot: A Chakra Reading
From the top down:

Crown Chakra:
The Lovers, 9/wands, Queen/wands

Every relationship you’ve ever had, or attempted, has been negatively influenced by destructive patterns brought about by childhood experiences and possibly past life experiences. This has resulted in a disconnect with the spiritual side of yourself, and the spiritual side of relationships, and you cannot form successful love relationships that are grounded only in the physical realm. To remedy this and to insure success in future relationships, it’s imperative that you find the light and connect, whatever spiritual path you choose.

Brow Chakra:
10/wands, King/Wands ®, The Magician ®

The burdens of life and the control of an individual or a group of individuals in your life has caused a short-circuit with the intuitive side of yourself, and thus, with the most powerful aspect of your being. The key to repairing this disconnect with your psychic center is to regain control of your life, to become better organized on a variety of levels. Learn to delegate responsibilities, to regain control of personal decisions, and to embrace this inner power with confidence.

Throat Chakra:
8/cups ®, 9/swords ®, 2/cups ®

In your life you’ve suffered the end of a relationship with all the anxiety and emotions that come with it. The result is that your feelings of loss and anguish have overwhelmed your throat chakra, leaving you unable to voice your thoughts, to speak up in the face of confrontation or authority, in essence it has crippled you as far as communication is concerned. In order to recover your voice, figuratively if not literally, you are going to have to dissolve the lump in your throat and consciously clear the way for honest open communication.

Heart Chakra:
9/pentacles, King/cups, Page/cups

Your heart is open and ready for love, the real and solid kind that has staying power and often involves serious commitment. And as well it should be, for the Page tells us that the opportunity for a relationship is very close, if not already underway and in its early stages. The openness of your heart chakra will allow for the growth of all that could be wished for in a love relationship. Though your voice may be muted, your emotions are most certainly not, although this predicament can make progress difficult.

Solar Plexus:
Judgment, 3/wands, 6/swords ®

Your past, which stemmed around a very conventional somewhat strict upbringing, has negatively influenced your feelings of self-worth. You were judged harshly in the past by family or peers, and you tend to judge yourself too harshly today. It’s a vicious circle. I believe that you were also the victim of verbal abuse at some time in your past, abuse that was regular enough and harsh enough to damage this chakra. To remedy this, you have to reach deep and banish this negativity, learning to value and love yourself in the process.

Sacral Chakra:
The Hierophant ®, Page/swords ®, 5/swords

Again, the past reaches forth to touch the present. The very strict moral compass that you were exposed to in your younger years still reigns supreme in your life today. This causes you to experience unnecessary guilt and confusion in the present, most of which stems around sexuality and other areas of physical enjoyment, such as food and drink, or anything which brings physical satisfaction. This chakra is most likely blocked and needs to be cleared and re-energized. It is your Achilles heel.

Root Chakra:
Knight/cups ®, Temperance, The Moon ®

The strength of this chakra and it’s balance is what’s holding it all together for you. This is probably how you survived the verbal abuse, though scarred, survive you did. It has also led to two extremes in your personality, one is ineffectual and compliant; the other can actually be cutthroat and it’s operation is not surprising– abused individuals often wind up becoming abusive individuals. You tend to act as you were taught, by example. The difference is that the chakras which were affected by the early trauma have actually kept your level of abuse low and often ineffectual. The real damage was done to yourself.
____________________

This individual has several problem areas within the chakras, which results in both physical and emotional manifestations. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are physical issues with the throat area, including recurring bouts of laryngitis, stuttering, tonsillitis, sore throats, repeated bouts of strep throat, etc. The solar plexus, sacral, and root chakras are the next most keenly affected, which can manifest in this instance as issues with sexuality, perhaps resulting in frigidity, impotence, confused sexual identity, an inability to accept or embrace their sexuality– whether gay or straight, or even perversions of some sort, and this type of behavior would stem from extreme guilt and a confused effort to deal with it.

The King of swords is a proud man who sometimes tends to take life too seriously. It would be to his benefit to look at the lighter side from time to time. Laughter reduces stress. (Note: I got the impression that this King needs some down time and that stress might be a factor in his future in some way.)

____________________

*About the reading: The ‘they’ in this particular reading came from the fact that I was not only picking up the unborn child, I was picking up a parent as well. As the mother told me, it was ‘freaky’, and I had it down pat, even to the apprenticeship.

The bond and connection between parent & child is the strongest of all human bonds. Remember this when you’re doing readings, just as in this case– when reading for one, you very likely will pick up the nuance of both.  This is why I don’t do readings for children.  It’s generally their parents who will come through.

Mini Tarot Reading

Deck: Golden Tarot of Klimt

DEATH…KNAVE/CHALICES…7/PENTACLES

He (the Knave) looks on without emotions as her feelings play themselves out. Behind him, hidden, are all the treasures he longed to give her. Behind him lay the one that death took, yet he faces her; before him, at his back, stands the strong one.

10/PENTACLES…7/PENTACLES…KNIGHT/WANDS

She runs the gauntlet to keep what she has or to gain what she longs for. She thinks she’s happy, but this is only an isolated moment, a surreal conclusion. Behind her is the man who will shake her from this illusion, either jarring her from her fantasy, or catapulting her into insanity.

9/SWORDS…10/CUPS…THE EMPORER

Unity has come with a price. On one side the anguish of doubt and emotional stress; upon the other side strong arm tactics of a man. And between them both lay the crumpled pile of wounded personalities and cliques that use to masquerade as a family.

When you contact me…Guidelines:

Okay folks, it’s time to set down some guidelines. Some of the rules that fall into this guideline are just common sense, and others might stem from my own personal preference. I receive a number of emails and phone calls from people– most of them total strangers

If you dial my cell phone number, you should be aware of my rules:

1. Identify yourself.

If you called my number for a reason, you know me. I deserve the courtesy of knowing who you are. Personal readings from me, whether done through phone, webcam, or email are not done anonymously. If you intend to be my client, I need to know who you are. If you don’t feel you can divulge this information to me, then I am not the psychic for you.

2. Don’t expect to call my number and receive a cold reading on the spot.

I don’t jump at all times of the day or night when a stranger unexpectedly calls my number and expects a reading then and there. Here are the rules if you want a telephone reading:

First: go to this link, http://tarotreadingswithamythystraine.blogspot.com, and order a telephone reading through Paypal.

Second: only after you’ve paid for a telephone reading, call my number to set up an appointment for your reading. I’m busy, my time is scheduled. We’ll look at the calendar and set a time and date that will work for both of us.

Third: I will only take calls between 9am and 6pm, Monday-Saturday, unless otherwise scheduled.

If you email me for a reading…

First: if you haven’t purchased a reading through Paypal at the link above, don’t bother emailing me. If I haven’t received a payment, I won’t respond. This might sound harsh, but this is a service that I offer to the public and it takes up a great deal of my time– I expect to be paid for my time and effort.

Second: only after you’ve paid for an online (email) reading, email me with any questions or concerns that you might have regarding the reading.

Third: you can expect to receive your reading within 3-7 days of my receiving your payment and any correspondence from you regarding your reading. Please be patient; I only do a certain number of readings per day, and the readings are done in the order they are received.

You said What?!…Let Your Psychic Read

One of the things on my mind are tarot readings and people’s often unexpected reactions to what they hear. I’ve been informed that a lady I did a reading for was ‘offended’ by something I said. To tell you the truth, I remember the gist of the reading, but not absolutely everything that I said as I interpreted the cards. Let me explain how this process works for those who don’t know– for me, as I turn the cards and view the images, thoughts, perceptions, and pictures begin flooding my mind. You will get the best reading from me if I just open my mouth and start talking as I turn the cards and before the thought or image vanishes. This means that I can’t stop to weigh and measure every word that comes from my mouth during every minute of the reading. If I would do this, the process would not work, the rythm would be lost. I can’t pause and break my chain of thought to ask myself, “Would this person be offended if I tell them that they have a tendency to procrastinate to the point of ruining their own chance of success?”…Nope, can’t do it– if I read for someone, I will open my mouth and let it roll, whatever comes up with the cards will just have to come up. I wouldn’t be doing justice to the reading– or my client– if I have to weigh and measure how sensitive every stranger that sits across from me may be.

That’s just the way it is, and that’s just the way it works. Will you be offended by anything said in a reading? Odds are, no. But I won’t guarantee that this won’t happen. And here’s just a little food for thought…If someone is offended by something that’s said in a reading– what would they think about all of the things that go unsaid? (If only they knew!!)

A psychic reading is a very intimate thing, it allows the reader a peek at your psyche– all bare and pink and fresh, with every pimple and imperfection laid out in plain site. Just remember that your reader is on your side; your reader is not there to pass judgement. And just like a doctor in a war zone, most psychics can say ‘we’ve seen it all’.

Past Life Reading for M.

Past Life Tarot Reading

(for M.)

1. Basic Soul Nature
Eight/swords

You tend to limit yourself by not being very adventurous when it comes to trying new things. You are confined and defined by other people’s opinions. You allow yourself to be restrained and contained by circumstances and people in your life, and you allow this mostly through apathy and laziness– you tend to follow the path of least resistance. This can mean that you withhold honest opinions, or any opinion at all, and you will never side with the underdog because that would mean more work and effort. This often sets you apart from those you would otherwise share a connection with.

You are a soul trapped by mitigating circumstances, and to relieve yourself of the inner nature that allows this, that is– in order to change, you will have to find your voice and strength of will.

2. Environment
The Hermit ®

You lived in isolation, which is a circumstance that led to an inability to verbally express yourself with success or ease. You lived in a manner that didn’t require a lot of interaction. I’m seeing a staff and feel that your life revolved around agriculture, livestock, the outdoors. You were connected to the earth and it’s cycles so closely that this aspect of your past life has carried over for many lifetimes, and to this day, this is your connection. Sometimes the environment in this past life was harsh; you faced the elements at their most basic. Winter seems to have left an indelible impression in this aspect, as it was the most rugged to survive.

3. Eary Years
Page/pentacles ®

You were wild in the youth of your past life. You were earthy and felt no qualms about satisfying your whims and urges. For many reasons, some of them being your unorthodox behavior and your inability to make solid emotional connections to people, you were isolated– or you felt isolated– from those close to you, those within familial or community settings. However, there’s one thing that you had no doubts about, and that was your connection to the earth and the lifestyle that accompanied the farmer or the peasant in a rural setting. Through the haze that has been your experience with human relationships, this is the one contact that has always been strong and clear. You knew early what it was you wanted to do and where you belonged.

4. Education
The Moon

Your education was sketchy, often based on superstition, as well as ancient wisdom and practices. This past life reaches far back into ancient times, before the dawning of the Renaissance, before the first ages of ‘enlightenment’, even before Christianity had reached the vast majority of what we now call Europe– but just on the cusp of this change. You lived by the laws and knowledge of nature, rather than the precepts and wisdom of the early scholars.

5. Accomplishments
The Magician ®

Many of your attempts to accomplish goals in this past life were thwarted by a lack of power, incentive, energy, direction, or the acceptance of those around you. What you did accomplish in this past life was connected to the elements– and the Elements. One problem was that you often found that your ideas, which may have been ahead of the times, were not readily received or accepted by friends, family, or community. Because of your nature, it was just easier to follow the general path and forget about those goals and dreams that only you could see as worthy and attainable. This may be an issue that plagues you all the way to your present life.

6. Occupation
Four/Swords

Your occupation centered around a rural and agricultural setting. You may not have been as successful in your occupation as you could have been because you often lacked ambition, but also because you suffered from some sort of physical infirmity which often prevented you from successfully completing physical tasks. You tired easily, were sick often, and lacked a strong constitution. You were also an individual within the community whose job it was to help dispose of the dead. Your life was touched by those spirits in numerous positive, as well as negative, ways.

7. Social Status
The Chariot ®

Although you were not at the top of the social ladder, you were well within the upper echelon. In spite of any hindrances you might have faced with your occupation– both those brought on by your own nature and those beyond your control, you were well respected within your community and you made a fairly good living for the time that this was. You lived slightly above the average standards and provided well for your family. It appears that within your community, you were often called upon to help make important decisions, implying that you were counted among the leaders of this particular area or village.

8. Relationships
The Hierophant

Your stubborn personality and terrifically conformist views made relationships in this lifetime difficult, and it’s possible that this type of behavior has carried over into many lifetimes. You had difficulty seeing a world outside of black and white, or defining personal boundaries of freedom for your partners. Within this past life you had more than one mate, possibly several– some lost to illness, some to wars and famine and other catastrophes of this age. You were plagued in this lifetime with a series of broken relationships, and this pattern may still continue with each incarnation. You’ve spent an eternity seeking your soul mate, and it is a search that has so far been unsuccessful, but a search that you refuse to abandon.

9. Family Life
Eight/cups ®

The most frustrating thing about family relationships in this past lifetime is that someone was always leaving, whether it was because of death or personal decisions. This leads you to a feeling of abandonment, or a fear of abandonment, that may persist to this day. It’s also indicated that you have a tendency to abandon a relationship when it becomes difficult, when it requires more verbal interaction and emotional depth than you are prepared or able to give. It also seems that you were forever ‘seeking’– seeking approval, seeking love and connection and attention, seeking some aspect of a relationship that you were never quite able to find. This search is most likely still underway.

10. Death
Seven/swords

Your death in this lifetime was brutal and violent, possibly death by the sword, as would be befitting this ancient era. The perpetrator was a thief or someone who owed you a great deal of money, land, or goods– possibly a business partner. The sad thing is that it seems he was most likely successful at the end and either kept those things which were your due, or robbed you further from your estate posthumously, carrying away many of your belongings, livestock, etc. The odd thing is that this individual may very well touch your life in the same negative way in the present lifetime, not quite as dramatically as in this past life, but more as someone that you may have connected with through business deals of a very negative nature, business deals that led to bad financial decisions and outcomes.

Lessons Learned During Your Past Life:

11. Eight/pentacles

One of the most important things you learned from this past life is to have a strong work ethic; to concentrate on developing your occupation, to apply yourself where needed to learn your craft, and to grow in your ability for whatever career you have chosen in this lifetime.

12. Nine/wands

You’ve learned, through unfortunate events in your past life, to not be quite so trusting of everyone who comes along. You’ve learned to protect yourself and stand up for your opinions, beliefs, and decisions. This is all very well and good, as long as you don’t become overly suspicious and paranoid about people and their motives.

How This Past Life Affects Your Current Life:

13. King/pentacles

There is an individual who you keep meeting from one lifetime to the next, and you’ve not yet learned how to protect yourself from this individual’s negative control and influence. You will keep meeting this character until you gain enough self-respect and self-confidence to stand up to this person; you will keep confronting this individual from one lifetime to the next until you loose your fear of them.

14. Seven/swords ®

You’ve learned well the importance of working diligently to create a financial nest egg to support your future. You’ve learned the value of the dollar; you’ve learned the virtue of hard work; and you’ve learned to accept success with grace.

What is An Online Psychic Tarot Reading Really Like?

Photobucket

I am a professional tarot reader, psychic, and clairvoyant. I use the intuitve method of reading the cards, and I’m currently working on a manuscript for a tarot book based on this practice. I give online tarot readings at my website, as well as live in-house readings at various local new-age shops. I also post video readings on Youtube and Myspace; this is an option I offer my clients at my tarot site. Although the tarot is my favored form of divination, I also use the pendulum for dowsing.

Following is an actual online reading done for one of my clients, posted anonymously of course:

Tarot Reading

12 card spread

1.    Will “Roger” and I get back together?

Death

9/Pentacles          Page/wands          Queen/swords ®

Death…the great transformation, tremendous change, a complete turn around, endings and beginnings.

Will you and “Roger” get back together?…At first glance, the answer would be ‘no’.  On second reflection, in order for this to happen—a reconciliation—1)  You must go through a major transformation; 2)  “Roger” must go through a major transformation; or 3)  the circumstances surrounding each of you must go through a major transformation.

Tremendous life change is not something to fear, it is the doorway for new beginnings and new adventures.

9/pentacles…This card represents a woman who is in a good place in her life.  She’s not only comfortable in the material sense of the word, but emotionally and spiritually as well.

She has self-confidence, a solid idea of who she is, where she’s going in life, and what her ultimate goals will be.  This lady is also in control…more so than some people around her who have not yet reached this peak in life.

This card either represent you, the essence of who you are; or it represents a phase of life/state of mind that you should make a conscious effort to achieve.

Page/pentacles…The Pages are usually messengers, and this Page deals with business/financial/employment issues.  He heralds a message that may 1) change your financial position, 2) offer you an opportunity for growth in your career, or a new job, 3) bring to the table financial/business/employment issues that have been put off, perhaps shoved into the background.

As figures on a checkerboard, this Page’s appearance may be giving you an opportunity to make the first move regarding these issues.  If this is the case, be sure to think things through carefully, thinking ahead to future results from a decision that you may make now.

Queen/swords ®…This card, in its own way, seems to be reinforcing the key card to this group—Death.

The Queen of swords is most often a solitary woman.  In her solitude she often develops a sense of self-confidence and personal strength.  She generally achieves her goals through diligence, determination, and the ability not to be thrown off course by the issues of life around her.

As a whole, this group of cards seems to be telling you to focus on “You”, on your career/employment, on your personal goals and ambitions, and less on your relationship with this man.

2.    Is he the right person for me?

The Lovers ®

The Moon ®          Ace/wands ®          King/pentacles

The Lovers ®…Since this card came up reversed for this very specific question, my first response would be a quiet ‘no’.  With that being said, I would expand on the meaning of this card in this position to say that 1) there may be too many conflicting issues, 2) there may be too much conflict between your personalities, and 3) there may be too wide a discrepancy in what each of you wanted from this relationship and how each of you sees the outcome.

The Moon ®…This is perhaps the one card that I find most disconcerting when it shows its face in a reading regarding relationships.

The Moon is generally telling me that someone is being deceitful.  This could mean several things—1) you are not being totally honest with “Roger”, 2) “Roger” is not being totally honest with you, 3) you are looking at this man or this relationship through rose colored glasses and not acknowledging certain negative or even destructive aspects of it.

(*Side Note:  I feel that “Time” seems to be an issue here for some reason.)

Ace/wands ®…The most important thing this card seems to be telling us is that, for some reason, this relationship is hampering your growth and success in career, business, or employment.

The reversed wands also points to a lack of power, or loss of power.  You may be feeling right now that you have no control over your life or its outcome, as though everything is out of your hands.

It’s very important that you lose this attitude and regain your own personal power and control over your life and the decisions you make.

King/pentacles…This King may very well represent the man in question, “Roger” himself.  This gives me a clear impression of the situation regarding his personality and the situation you are facing.

I’m going to list both the light and dark aspects of this card, though by coming up in an upright position, it is the light—or positive—aspects that are highlighted.

The King of pentacles has a very ‘strong’ personality; even the quiet ones tend to maintain control of their surroundings and the people in it.  He’s cunning, often a good businessman, though he is able to cut throats to get ahead without batting an eye.  He takes competition very seriously.  He’s usually honest and fair when it comes to doing business with others, though he will take any advantage he can to succeed.

The downside to this King is his need to have absolute control of everything and everyone around him.  And he often finds round-a-bout ways of accomplishing this.  He holds grudges big time.  Once you’ve offended him, he’s not apt to forgive quickly, or at all.  He also is very vindictive and may seek his own personal type of revenge against anyone he feels has wronged him—and he can be very creative in this endeavor.

3.    What is my direction in life meant to be?

10/wands

5/swords          8/swords          7/wands

10/wands…Whichever direction you’re going, you are going to be shouldering a lot of responsibility, and this may put great weight upon you.  It’s something that, because you are aware of it now,  you can prepare for.

This card may also be telling me that the directions you choose, as so many things in life really are a ‘choice’, may involve a lot of uphill moments, a lot of work and determination to complete or achieve.

You should remember that, as so often is the case, the really important things in life require effort.

5/swords…The direction that you choose may involve some conflict at some point. Though you may very well come out as the victor here.  If you allow yourself to constantly be drug into every squabble and confrontation, it will eventually wear you down.  This card is basically telling you to choose your battles wisely, and conserve your energy where you can in order to put it to better use.  Also, you may have to fight to succeed, to reach your goals, to find your place and purpose in life.

8/swords…The direction you choose in life may, at times, leave you feeling ‘trapped’.  If this is the case remember:  You can always change your direction.  Sometimes where we end up is not where we meant to go, it’s not how we expected it to be, but that’s alright.  The future is not set in stone, but is faceted and formed by a series of events and decisions, some of these random—and this idea tends to rattle some people.

Never settle for anything in life that makes you feel bound, or may restrict your freedom of thought, expression, or movement.  Always make decisions only after clearly looking at all the alternatives and consequences.  Making a decision in any other way would be like stepping off a cliff, having not been looking to see where you were going.

7/wands…The direction you may take in life may not meet with the approval of all friends and family.  This might leave you feeling a bit defensive about the decisions you have made.

By being aware of this, you can be prepared to defend these decisions if need be.

Also, know that when you have your back to the wall and really don’t see any way out, there is an opening, a means of escape, very close to you, you just won’t be feeling aware of it at the time because it won’t be blaringly obvious.
