Updates: The Bandit of Hedgewytch Hollow & Wytchy Observations

For several nights we’ve had a visitor to our back porch who raided the cats’ food bowls, left muddy foot prints all over the tables, and traumatized our kitty cats. The girls checked the porch the other night and, much to their surprise, they caught the culprit in the act. And here he is…

My daughter snapped this photo right through the glass on the back door– as you can see.

I guess it’s only fair that this little “Bandit” comes to visit and get his fill at Hedgewytch Hollow.

Observations, Just Saying…

1) The ‘Good Ole’ Boys’ system is not confined to the mundane world of mainstream society. Sadly, the “Good Ole’ Boys” system exists in the pagan world as well, and unfortunately, it’s left a lot of casualties in its wake.

2) The Real Housewives of (Wherever)…These women spend an awful lot of time, energy, emotion, and money trying to be ‘friends’ with people they don’t really like. And the point is???

3) Every pot of poppies that I’ve tried to grow dies. They appear to be in good condition when I purchase them at the greenhouse, but not long after transplanting, you can see the life being sucked right out of them– I want poppies, lots and lots of poppies spreading out all over the place, just like my grandmother had in her yard.

4) An awful lot of women spend an awful lot of time fixating on men– how they can catch one, why they lost one, will straying ones come back, how can they keep the one they’ve got, etc., ad infinitum. HELLOoooo! You will never reach your full potential if you expend every ounce of energy you have and hours of mental activity obsessing on this subject. Halt!– Stop!– put the brakes on.

I ask you:

If there were no men in the world, what would you be interested in?

Do you draw, paint, sketch, write, sculpt, or cook like a world class chef? Are you interested in horitculture– gardening, animals, sewing, designing– clothes, buildings (architecture), websites, interior design, or something else that I haven’t even thought of?

If you could do anything in the world you wanted to do, what would it be?

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

If you could live anywhere in the world, would you stay where you are, or would you move to another location?

If you could accomplish one major feat in your life…what would it be?

The newly designed “Home Blessing Kits” are posted and ready for sale. These kits are smaller than the original, which makes them more portable, easier to tuck into your magickal bag or purse– then off you go to cleanse and purify your neighbor’s house, your friends apartment, or that haunted empty lot across town. These kits come in four colors (green, orange, lavender, pink) and include: 1 bag of sea salt, 1 bag of hyssop, 1 white taper candle, 2 sticks of incense, and 1 small bottle of “The Witches Oil” (shown in the photo of oils below).

You’ll find Home Blessing Kits at Wytchy Wares, or you can go directly to Wiccan Kits & Boxes.

I finally got photos posted of the smaller bottles of magickal oils that I’m offering at my site: Break the Hex Oil (aka Uncrossing Oil); Money Mojo (aka Prosperity Oil); The Witches’ Oil; Banish the Spirits (aka Exorcism Oil); and Good Health Mojo.

These oils are $8.00 a bottle. However, I’m still selling the large no-nonsense jars of oil for anyone who likes to buy magick in a generous quantity. For more information, you can visit my online shop: Wytchy Wares. Or you can go directly to Oils/Potions/Powders.

The Witch’s Corner: update

Wytchy Wares is now offering smaller bottles of magickal oils,
at a fraction of the price, with the same high quality.

The following oils come in approximately 18 milliliter bottles.

Banish the Spirits

(Exorcism/Purification Oil)

Annoint a black candle with this oil to exorcise those demons that are bothering you– whether the irritation is physical or mental.  Annoint a white candle with this oil and burn it to purify your physical space or your mental/physical state.  I’ve used this oil to exorcise entities haunting my home, and I’ve used it to exorcise people from my life who were causing problems.

Photobucket

Good Health Mojo

This ointment is used to “dress” candles used for healing or to maintain continued good health.  Annoint a green candle with this oil for healing of the body; a yellow candle for healing of the mind; a red candle for the physical healing of the reproductive system– a yellow candle can be burned along with the red one for mental healing of sexual abuse victims.

Photobucket

The Witch’s Oil

This is an “all purpose” oil which can be used to annoint the body prior to rituals or spell casting.  It can also be used to dress candles.

Photobucket

Money Mojo

This oil is used to annoint candles for money magick.  It can also be used to annoint stones conducive to wealth and prosperity and carried in your purse or wallet.  It will enhance and draw the energies that stimulate the acquisition of money in many ways.

 Photobucket

Break the Hex Oil

(Uncrossing Oil)

This oil is most often used to remove hexes/curses placed upon you.  It’s also brought into service to turn bad luck around and is used in spells for just such results.

Magickal Connections: Spell Bag Instructions

Mojo Bags

At my online shop, found at my website, I offer a variety of spell bags– bags filled with the items that you need to cast specific spells. The ones I offer include: Make Him Love Me; Money Flow; Make Him Go; Shut Your Mouth.

I’ve had several people order these spell bags and then email me, unsure as to what exactly they should do with the magickal items enclosed, so I’ve decided to post some instructions. Later I may even make small instructional videos, but I like taping these videos outdoors better than anywhere else, so the weather is going to have to warm up.

The following instructions are pretty basic and will be used with any of the spell bags.

First, let’s look at the items included in these bags:  1 small taper candle, 1 bottle of magickal oil, 1 small bag of herbs, 3 incense cones, a stone, and a small porcelain candle holder*  (*not shown).

After you’ve situated yourself in a comfortable spot to work– some of you casting a circle to work in, and other’s probably opting not to do this– go ahead and light one of the incense cones.

If the herbs enclosed  are not all powdered, but include leaves and whole blossoms or petals, you’ll want to begin by crushing or pulverizing them.  I use a mortar and pestle for this, but if you don’t have a mortar and pestle, crush them up with your fingers.  If the herbs are a bit coarser than herbs ground with a mortar and pestle, that’s okay.

Next, shake up your bottle of magickal oil and open it.  You’re going to dress (anoint) your candle with the oil and then roll it in the crushed herbs.  Tip the bottle up and get some oil on your fingertips.   If you’re working magick to draw something to you, you will hold the candle in one hand while you stroke the oil onto the candle in gentle sweeping motions towards your body.  If you’re working magick to send something away, you will hold the candle in one hand while you stroke the oil on the candle in gentle sweeping motions away from your body.

After the candle is oiled, have the herbs sprinkled out on the surface you’re working on in a long pile.  Put the candle on it’s side and roll it through the herbs, several times if need be, until all or most of the herbs adhere to the candle.  Place the candle in the candle holder.

Keeping your intentions in mind, light the spell candle.  Allow the candle to burn down.  Make sure not to leave it unattended and to keep all flammable materials out of reach of the flame.

Once this candle has burned down and the wax has cooled, you can use the large bag all of these ingredients came in to make a mojo bag.  To this bag you will add the remains of the candle wax and any of the herbs which might be left over, the stone, as well as personal items/effects that will make this magick more individualized and add to the energy of your spell.  These items could include hair, fingernails, or a photo of your target, a name paper, a small slip of paper upon which you’ve written affirmations, an item belonging to the target– such as a button, an earring, etc.

Keep this bag in a safe and secret place, giving the magickal energy time to build and work.

Author’s Corner: Questions & Answers

Where are you from?  I was born in Gardena California on September 24, 1957. My parents went back to Mitchell, South Dakota, three months after I was born, for my grandfather’s funeral. They stayed, and this is where I was raised. I’ve spent the last twenty-two years here in Fremont, Nebraska, about forty miles northwest of Omaha, raising a family of seven children.

Tell us your latest news?  I’ll be at Next Millennium in Omaha, Nebraska, in April, May, and June for book signings. I’ll also be giving tarot readings. I’ll be posting more information on this, including dates/times at my Facebook author page. You can also find this information at my website, The Witch’s Corner: ladyamythyst.webs.com

When and why did you begin writing?  I’ve been writing since I started my first journal when I was 12-years-old. I was inspired by Anne Frank, and I wanted to record my life and times in order to relish everything and to forget nothing.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?  It finally dawned on me that I was a writer when I stood in the middle of my kitchen staring at a check in my hand that I had received for a short story I submitted to a magazine in Colorado. This was in the early/mid 1990s, when I was still in the process of having babies and running a very busy household. The idea that someone would actually pay me for something that I had written was mind-blowing.

What inspired you to write your first book?  I believe that it was the enlightenment and love of my spiritual path that inspired me to write my first book. The path of the pagan is so inspiring and so misunderstood by so many. I decided to write this book after a very dear high school friend, someone I thought I would be friends with the rest of my life, ended our friendship when I finally revealed to her that I collect tarot cards.

There was dead silence on the other end of the phone, and then in a very small voice she said, “That’s very dark.”

Well, no, divination and the tarot are not dark at all. The tarot is such an inspiring tool, not only for divination, but to venture into your psyche through meditation and magick. I wanted people to know this. I wanted people to understand the process of divination, how it works, when it can actually be useful in unexpected ways, and how enlightening life’s journey can be with it.

I realized that the way to do this was through a book.

Do you have a specific writing style?  I’ve been told by readers that my style is very ‘chatty and natural’. Basically, I write pretty much the way I speak– well, for the most part. The formality of style depends on who I’m writing for, what the subject needs in order to be understood; and how entranced, inspired, or magickal I feel.

How did you come up with the title?  For my last book, “Tarot: A Witch’s Journey”, it was really pretty easy…I’m a professional tarot reader, it’s been a long round-a-bout route getting to where I am today, and I’m a witch. There ya’ go!

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?  The experiences in my book are all real events from my life and the people/circumstances that I’ve encountered over years of professionally reading the tarot for the public. You meet all different kinds of people seeking answers to life’s questions, and their expectations of the tarot reader and a psychic reading are very diverse and sometimes unexpected.

In my book I’ve actually included real tarot readings I’ve done for clients, publishing them anonymously of course, to give an idea of exactly how this process works and what the end results will be like.

What books have most influenced your life most?  When I was a teen-ager, the book that most touched me and influenced me was, “The Diary of Anne Frank”. I was twelve years old the first time I read it, and I just naturally assumed it would have a happy ending…it didn’t. I was stunned. I re-read it then without the haze of innocence to shade the harsh reality.

Years later I discovered another ‘Anne’…Anne Morrow Lindbergh and her series of diaries and letters. Again, there was a tragedy included in the author’s life and these books, the kidnapping and murder of her infant son in 1932. But this time I got to read past the tragedy to see how the author learned to live with her sorrow and to rebuild her life. Anne’s books contained very poignant insights on life and how we cope so as to be able to live.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?Definitely Anne Morrow Lindbergh. I lent a friend one of Anne’s books once, and when my friend had finished reading it, her amazed response was, “This lady is pure thought.” I also greatly admire Ann Moura, as well as Ly de Angeles and her beautiful literary style.

What book are you reading now? I’m doing research now for my third book, “The Book of Magick” (working title), so my reading consists of books on topics relating to my research; books on crystals, stones, correspondences, animals, herbs, and such.

What are your current projects? I recently finished my second book, “The Gray Witch’s Grimoire”, and have it under submission with a publisher at this time. This book deals exclusively with magick from the perspective of the gray witch, which might rattle a few chains. I believe the modern witch of today, greatly influenced by a mostly Christian society, has lost site of the true wise-woman of ancient times. This book includes information on not only magick that falls in the shady area of witchcraft, taking advantage of a darker and often misunderstood energy, but it also deals with touchy Wiccan subjects, such as self-initiation.

I intend to write a companion book to “The Gray Witch’s Grimoire” sometime in the very near future, most likely a study guide..

Right now, as I’ve said, I’m working on “The Book of Magick”, which attempts to gather correspondences for all types of magick, from a variety of paths, to make it easier for the magickal practitioner to coordinate their spell work and gather the items they need to make their magick a reality.

Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members. The Mother Goddess…it’s the strength, resolution, and peace I find as a practicing witch and member of my coven that inspires me.

Do you see writing as a career? I have a feeling that very few writers, except those who’s novels are destined for movies, can depend on a writing career as their sole income. As a free-lance writer, with no other source of income, you will also run into issues and concerns such as health insurance and retirement plans.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?  Overall– no. I think my editor, Starr Price, did an amazing job at creating a wonderful book from my piles and piles of manuscript pages, coordinating all the information I presented into a magickal experience. I think an artist or writer would never stop tweaking their work if someone didn’t gently take it from their hands and say, “Okay, it’s done now.”

Who designed the cover?  The cover for “Tarot: A Witch’s Journey” was designed by Starr Price. I had no idea what she was going to do. She phoned me one day, saying that the cover was finished and she wanted me on the line when I looked at it for the first time for feedback– it blew me away! My girls were behind me squealing in delight. I can’t tell you how many comments and compliments I’ve received about the cover to this book. I tell these people I take no credit for this, it was all Starr Price’s artistic talent and magickal muse.

What advice would you give aspiring writers?  I’d tell them to keep writing, keep writing, keep writing. It’s so easy to come up with a million ideas that you never put down on paper. Don’t just dream about being a writer, but actually do it. This requires determination, discipline, and perseverance, but the rewards are worth it in the end.

The Cottage Witch/Kitchen Wytch/Hedge Wytch

Photobucket

The cottage witch/kitchen wytch/hedge wytch– she’s one and the same, and for me, this is the epitome of what I have always viewed witches as being ever since I was a child. It is that unobtrusive and eccentric woman who grows herbs in her gardens and about her house, who has developed a unique and unusual relationship with the wild things that visit her yard and inhabit her grounds. It is the woman who has the ancient knowledge and wisdom to incorporate the magickal use of herbs into her everyday life—in the food she prepares, in the water and solutions that she uses to clean her home, in the incense she burns to smudge her living quarters.

It’s not the flashy publicity oriented media image of a witch that people seek out…it is the quiet Wise Woman in the unusual house down the road; the woman people whisper about curiously amongst themselves, the woman cocooned in ancient mysteries and magickal ways.

This is the Kitchen Witch– resplendent in her simple life-style that centers around hearth and home; the Cottage Wytch…immeshed in centuries of tradition and mystery; the Hedge Wytch…creating natural magick in the wild woods using the magick of the green, the magick of the stones, the magick of the Goddess.

*Note:  I’ll be adding more thoughts and insights to this subject, as they come to me and as I have the time.  I love this aspect of the witch, and it’s this image that is most familiar and most attractive to me.  I have to shake my head and wonder when I hear people referring to witches in negative and ugly terms.  I think…Apparently they have never met a hedge wytch!  The green witch is well-rooted in all three aspects of the world encompassed by these witches, and although some people may point out slight differences in a practice here or there amongst the kitchen/cottage/hedge witch, these simple and natural witches are much more connected and united than they are distinctive to each other.

Titles, Respect, & Pagan Etiquette

Ethics within the coven…

The best all-around policy is to practice politeness to each other.  That’s when we can use the old titles; they breed respect.  ‘Lady’ Medea…Lady Circe, Lady Persephone.  The word ‘lady’ means "she who makes the loaf"; it is not a class title…This language will help you have dignity and confer honor upon each other. *

When I became legally ordained, I was given options for a title.  This title would appear on legal documents, on my ordination certificate, on the clergical card I carry.  All of the options I was given were based in Christian tradition, and only one of the options was feminine.

I wanted none of these.

So I chose the title of ‘Lady’.

I know that there are Wiccan traditions out there that are very particular about who carries this title, and many of them have very specific requirements or very rigorous studies that must be completed before this title is conferred.

I respect the effort it takes for the recipient to earn this sacred title.

But as an electic solitary Witch, I have gone through my own personal initiations, my own rigorous coming of age, my own spiritual growth, complete with unending study, unending accumulation of knowledge and experience– it is an ongoing life-long process.  It is a trial by fire, this pagan path, and we each come through it tempered as is steel, with our strong points forged and our power cast.

This post is in honor of every solitary Witch or Wizard, Shaman or Pagan out there who is working and striving to develop and build their own spiritual path.

Bright Blessings,
Lady Amythyst Raine

“Sisterhood”…my thoughts

A Sister, should be a Sister, should be a Sister…*Forever*, it’s not a ‘when-I-feel-like-it’ thing, it should not rely on the conditions of outside influences, human frailities/insecurities/or pettiness.  A Sister is someone you grow old with; and on your way to this destination, you pass all the other stages of life– bumpy, smooth, unpleasant, and joyous…and you know, without a crumb of a doubt, that your Sister will travel this road with you, shoulder to shoulder– to the end and beyond.

A Little Magick

Today was the perfect day, literally speaking, to tweak a little magick and give it a special nudge.  Although today is Tuesday and influenced by the energy of Mars, I used the hour of Saturn…the energy I needed for my little task.  The herbs were wormwood & cloves, salt, and an old hoodoo oil (which I’ll not name here).  The candle was black.

I love the feeling inside a cast circle.  It was exhilarating and the energy moved easily and well.  The spell candle is quietly burning itself out as we speak.

Magick was made…

SL385907-1.jpg

Tarot Card for the day is…The Sun.

Warmth and light, bright tidings, brilliance– both mundane and magickal, physically and spiritually.  Although someone seems to have their ‘head in the clouds’– don’t get too cocksure.  If you’re always looking up, you might trip on something below.  Also, the phoenix rising from the ashes…pick yourself up and learn from your mistakes– looks like you get a second chance.

I was going through some photos from last fall and came upon this one.  I took this picture standing in my livingroom, watching my husband burn autumn leaves in the driveway.  As I came from the kitchen, I wondered what the orange glow was.  No wonder the neighbors wonder.  When we have bonfires, hubby is in charge of the firepit– I imagine he was in a past life too.

I snapped a pic of this tombstone on one of our outings to Ridge Cemetery.  It wasn’t that the tombstone was so unusual, it was the fact that this lady was buried all by herself, in a huge wide expanse of ground between the Catholic & Protestant areas.  In fact, there’s nothing else in this area except Nell and two willow trees, one of which she was buried under.  Why was she so segregated?  Perhaps she wasn’t ‘baptized’ according to Christian code?  I guess we’ll probably never know.  My girls took an immediate liking to Nell– good vibes, from the grave, though the tree.  We stayed and kept her company for sometime.  I have a feeling we would’ve loved her smile.

My boy, Salem, has claimed several unusual spots around the house for himself.  This one is literally in ‘The Witch’s Corner’– though he didn’t get to keep this cozy nest, because eventually I needed the shelf space.  He also has a penchent for sharing the bathroom and hates closed doors– he’ll beg to come in with you, even rattling the sliding door if you don’t let him have his way.  The first couple times he did this, I thought it was hubby– and I was chewing him out…I open the door– and it’s Salem.  Spoiled boy.

Tea Time with the Witch: A Little of This, A Little of That

Cafe-du-Matin-Print-C102639061.jpg tea time 1 picture by witch_of_endore

So much going on, where to begin?…First, there are issues with the webhost of my website, The Witch’s Corner.  Some people have uninterrupted access to my site and others do not, including me.  First they said it had something to do with the ISP, then it was the DNS, and since I have no access to Webs at all, I can’t get into the support forums to figure it all out.  It wasn’t that long ago that we experienced similar problems, which knocked my site out for a week.  This has spooked me sufficiently enough that I’ve been moving the contents of my site (from a cached page) over to Yola– mostly to use as a backup url, just in case this should happen again.  But if this occurs too often, I may have to make Yola my permanent home.

If your access to The Witch’s Corner is uninterrupted– good for you!…The url is:  http://ladyamythyst.webs.com

If you are one of the unfortunate few, like me, who can’t bring this site up using the url above, here’s the links to the Yola sites I’m in the process of creating– remember, this is a project that’s under construction.  Because of the massive amount of material I’m transferring, I’m actually setting up two websites at Yola that are interconnected.  One contains my tarot reading page, along with wytchy merchandise from Wytchy Wares; the other site contains information on witchcraft, cyrstals & stones, metaphyscial laws, rituals, spells, all the “other stuff”:

This Thursday I’ll be having Ladies over to the house for a little Wytchy Mischief.  That’s about all I can say on the topic, other than it rightfully deserves to be capitalized.  The girls and I will probably be tidying up the house on Wednesday, the day before– when company comes I like candles lit, incense going, and soft ambient music in the backgroud…Let the fun begin.  🙂

As some of you might know, the oldsest cat we have in the house passed away last Friday– Tatters.  Dr. Kent estimated that he must have been around 13 years old, and he was positive for feline AIDS.  That cat spent most of his life roaming this neighborhood as a feral cat, until one very cold winter night, he decided to gird up his loins and come in to sit for a spell.  He stayed.  We saw him through his last month of life, most of which he was actually enjoying, lolling around on my daughter’s bed pretending to be a house cat.  His health decline and death was very fast and unexpected.  I believe he found us for a reason…when we were needed.

Tuesday– what a day!…Mars; red or orange candles; in your face aggressive energy; herbs:  basil, pepper, onion, cayenne pepper, allspice, cloves, cinnamon; number 9.  Warrior energy is on the rampage today– I feel it more strongly than usual.  Light a red candle and flex your muscles…both magickal and mundane.

Tarot Card for the day:  The High Priestess (R)

You’re not listening to that little voice in your head– it’s trying to tell you something, but you may be trying to drown it out with common sense and reasonable explanations…and these things don’t always work in certain circumstances.  Shhh…listen, what is it telling you to do?

The High Priestess today has a sense of calmness about her, almost an arrogance– the good kind– in being solid about who she is, what path she wishes to tread, and where she’s headed in the future.  Under certain conditions, she has the knack for being in control without giving the impression that she is– very clever!

Blessings,
Amythyst Raine

Poppets: What Do I Do With It?

Poppets are popular.  I sell a lot of them from my website at The Witch’s Corner.  Some, I know for a fact, are going to be used for the intentions for which they were created, others are bought as a novelty item.  A wide variety of people purchase my poppets for magickal use, both experienced practitioners and the novice.  The most popular poppet question I get is from the novice buying a poppet for the first time for actual magickal use.  They have their intentions down pat, they’re running on a good amount of emotional energy, but once they have the dollie, the questions is:  “What do I do with it?”

Well, I’ll tell ya’…You can do a lot of things with a poppet and, depending on your intentions, it can be good things, or it can get pretty nitty-gritty.

Since the energy for magick is fueled by emotions, you can start with the obvious.  I’ve been asked if it’s okay to hit the poppet– Sweetheart, you can not only hit it, you can stomp on it, burn it, bury it, tie it up, smother it in the substance of your choice, perform bodily functions upon it, stab it with a knife or stick it full of straight pins.  You can sew the mouth shut; tape the mouth shut, blindfold it; or stick pins through the eyes.  You can scream at it; yell at it; cry at it; you can talk to it; lecture it; stroke it; embrace it; or throw it against the wall.

Whatever the purpose of your poppet is, whether for love, healing, hexing/cursing…remember that it is your emotions, and the strength of those feelings that are going to propel the magick forward.

There is a ritual for ‘breathing a poppet to life’.  This is not an absolute demanded requirement, especially for those who are inexperienced in the performance of magickal rituals, but it makes a lot of sense– and it’s really very simple.  I posted this ritual in my October 2010 Newsletter, and I’ll re-post it here:

Assemble those items that correspond to the four elements– a bowl of water, a lit candle, an incense of your choice, and a bowl of salt.

1.  Cast your circle & call the quarters.

2.  Have your altar prepared, the color of your altar cloth, the herbs and stones present all corresponding to your intentions.

3.  Upon this altar place the items belonging to the elements.

4.  Take a few moments to ground yourself, to gather your energy, to fill your mind and this magical space with your intentions for this poppet.

5.  Lay the doll upon the altar.

For the element of Earth:

Take a handful of salt and sprinkle it across the figure, saying, “I infuse you with Earth, that you feel physical touch.”

For the element of Air:

Take the doll in your hands and hold it in the smoke of the incense, turning it, moving it, that it is consumed with the smoke, saying, “I infuse you with Air, that you think.”

For the element of Fire:

Lay the doll upon the altar once more and hold the burning candle above it, saying, “I infuse you with Fire, that your passion be unquenchable and you feel the heat of my fury (or love, hate, desire, etc.)”

For the element of Water:

Dip your right hand into the bowl of water and sprinkle the water upon the poppet as it lay on your altar, saying, “I infuse you with Water, that your emotions be overwhelming.”

6.  Leave the poppet lay on the altar.  Take a deep breath and slowly lean over it, until you hover above it’s mouth, your own lips almost touching it.  Exhale now, allow your breath to escape from your body in one long warm draught of air.  And this breath shall enter the poppet and give it life.

7.  Open your circle, dismiss the quarters.  Do with the poppet what you must, according to your intentions.

Personalize your poppet…This means that you are going to do something to this dollie to imbue it with the energy and essence of the individual that it represents.  You can open it up and insert personal effects from your target; this could include– hair, fingernails, a small photo, a signature, a name-paper (their name which you’ve written on a small strip of paper), a kleenex they’ve used, a scrap of material from a piece of their clothing, a piece of jewelry–such as an earring, or a bead from a necklace or bracelet.  You can pin a small photo of their face over the face of the poppet; you can tie the poppet up with strip of material taken from a piece of their clothing…The ideas are endless.  The more personal the item belonging to the target, the better.

When you’ve performed your rituals, vented your emotions, worked your magick– then what?

What you do with this poppet at the end of it all depends on what this poppet was intended for– love, healing, health, or revenge.

Healing Poppets…You’ve created this poppet with tenderness and the desire for a loved one’s recovery from illness or injury.  Treat this poppet with as much love and respect as you would the individual you created it for, because– in essence– it is them.  Keep it safe.  When all is said and done, their recovery complete– or their passing eased with magickal assistance– dismantle this poppet carefully, lovingly, and burn the items in a bonfire to which you’ve added a handful of sage and rosemary.  Scatter the ashes to the winds.

Love Poppets…If you’ve created this poppet to bring romantic love into your life, you’ll want to keep it close, preferably in your bedroom, near your bed.  Keep it safe and secure, possibly wrapped in red satin and kept in luxurious circumstances– spoil it, lure it…seduce it.  Bring it out on the evening of a full moon, amongst soft candlelight and a glass of wine, to reinstate your intentions.  When the poppet has fulfilled it’s duty, destiny has knocked, and a lover has entered your life, hang onto this dolly– you might need it one day.

Personally, I don’t believe in  the unrealistic world of ‘happy ever after’ fairytale endings.  Mr. Right might seem like the cat’s meow right now, but along the way you may discover that this individual is not quite what you had in mind.  Fortunately, if you’ve saved this poppet, you can bring it out of it’s hiding place, dismantle it, take a nice long drive to some secluded area, and bury it– Mr. Right will be taking a nice long drive right out of your life shortly afterwards.

Hexing/Cursing Poppets…Poppets created and worked for the darker aspects of magick should be disposed of carefully, and definitely ‘off’ your property.  When retribution has been accomplished, the results are in, and you’ve made your point– dismantle this dolly carefully, leaving not a crumb of ingredients laying about.  Take it outside and burn it in a fireproof receptacle that you don’t mind disposing of.  When the container and ashes have cooled down, take the whole thing as far away from your home as is reasonable, and bury it .

However, with the dark dollies, there is also an alternative, one I personally find intriguing and useful…If this poppet was created for a target who may be contained temporarily with dark magick, but a target who is not going to be going away permanently– hang onto this poppet.  You might find it useful in the future.  You will keep this poppet under very careful conditions.  Personally, I prefer to bind it before I pack it away– literally– with wide red ribbon.  You will keep this poppet in a secure and secret place, knowing that you still hold the cards, knowing that you maintain control and can defend yourself should the need ever arise.

Magick for the Day

Saturday…Planet/Saturn:  ambition, structure, realism, self-preservation (this can get sticky, falling within gray magick), business, self-control, the dark side, retribution/revenge, the untamed spiritual side; Colors/black, gray, deep navy blue; Herbs/black poppy seeds, myrrh, pepper, wormwood, henbane, hellebore, hemlock, witch grass; Number/8; Letters/H, Q, Z; Stones/apache tear, obsidian, onyx, tourmaline (black), hematite, jet

Save Saturday as the day to pull magickal punches where they’re needed, whether someone or something needs banishing or just a hard slap on the wrist.  Straighten out the gossip, zip the liar’s lips, knock jealousy out the window, get the bad guy– track him down with your magickal guns.  Protection magick is a highpoint for this day and these correspondences.  For me the magickal cry for Saturday is, "Batten down the hatches and get out of my way if you’re smart."  Saturday wreaks of no nonsense magick, isn’t for the sissies, and inspires good behavior by using some magickal muscle.

Tarot card of the day:
Knight of Cups

This knight heralds romantic activities and, with the influence of Saturn, this will be more like Heathcliffe and Catherine– without the pristine happy endings of a Disney fairytale.  The sex will be wild, unbridled, and somewhat dangerous; the fights will be rampaging with make-up sex that will take your breath away.  Romantic relationships begun at this point will be so up and down, so tumultuous, that it may not be intended to last forever– the intensity would be too much.  Take what you will from this encounter, learn and grow, enjoy the good parts, survive the bad…and move on to calmer waters, smoother encounters.

Magick for the Day

Thursday…the planet is Jupiter, the energy is geared for expansion and growth.  Do magick today for legal matters, money/financial issues, magick to promote growth on all levels– material, spiritual, physical:  color- white for matters of the spirit, green for money and the physical; herbs- cinnamon, cinquefoil, musk, nutmeg, sage; number- 3; letters- C,L,U.

Tarot Card of the Day…Three of Pentacles  The emphasis for today is on work/employment.  Finish up projects that are incomplete, explore new avenues and possibilities, be very careful about office gossip– something you say in confidence may not be kept private, watch out for ‘group mentality’, and don’t be afraid to step out of the crowd and display individuality– your creativity will be rewarded.

A Unique Lesson in Spite

I’m going to post a very personal story today, going public with a very unique experience.  It involves a neighbor lady whom I’ve lived a couple doors down from for over 14 years.  This woman and I have never  ‘neighbored’.  For some reason, which I cannot fathom, she has chosen to dislike us…the ‘us’ being myself, my six children, and my husband– I was divorced and remarried during the course of my time in this neighborhood.  The only  conversation I’ve had with “M.M.” was when we had an issue with her son breaking off a limb from one of our trees. During the course of this entire discussion, this woman insisted on continuously referring to my new husband as “the gentleman who lives at your house”.  Her children and mine, just for the record, have also never friended each other.  Her son did take me back one day, when I was in the front yard, with an unexpected question:  “My mom wants to know why you don’t have a real job.”— I’ve been a stay-at-home homeschooling mother for about 20 years now, whereas this woman is very career oriented.  I gather that she doesn’t approve of my lifestyle.

Anyway, this pretty much sets the stage and gives some explanation for 14 years of aloofness, glaring stares, and really inexcusable behavior that me and my family have put up with.

Flash forward to the present time:

“M. M.” ordered a pizza from Papa Murphy’s Pizza here in town.  A girl named Katlyn took her order over the phone.  This woman arrives at Papa Murphy’s to pick up her pizzas.  The order slip had been lost, thus her order was not ready.  Another employee, my 17 year old daughter, took things in hand and made up this lady’s pizzas.  “M. M.” had to wait about 15 minutes.

When my daughter went to work the next day, the manager called her into the office.  “I think this is about you,” he said. The company had received a very negative reveiw about the lost order the night before, with very derogatory things said about my daughter– who is a new employee at this shop.  My daughter went on to explain the situation between our families, and she described this woman’s behavior to the manager.

The scenario became even more interesting when the manager discovered that this woman’s 17 year old daughter, “P. M.”,  had left a negative reveiew some time before about another Papa Murphy’s employee– a young woman who just happened to be dating “P. M.’s” old boyfriend, and with whom “P. M.” had an altercation.

I find it incredible that the women in this family would use a business reveiw board as a means of satisfying a personal vendetta.  I’m not as surprised at her daughter’s backstabbing, because it sounds like a petty immature teenage thing to do, especially when a boy was the topic.  I am, however, very taken aback that a supposedly mature business woman would take out her angst on a seventeen year old girl who did nothing but make up her pizzas.  It has sinced dawned on me that this was not only an attack on my daughter; it was the passive/aggessive action of a very insecure person.  My grandmother would call it a ‘mean streak’.

I was mulling over this incident in my mind as I was working on my second book– a book of magick for the gray witch– and I came up with a delicious little spell to use when “Spite” rears it’s ugly head.  I included this spell in my December newsletter, and I’m going to share it with you as well.  If you find yourself the victim of people with a spiteful mean ugly mentality, don’t give up, cast this spell instead.

Little does this woman know that she was my inspiration!  It’s good to be a witch. 🙂

To Spite Your Face

One of the most frustrating foes to deal with is a person who is jealous and spiteful. This spell will deal with their energy, while most importantly, it will protect you from the fallout of their actions and their spitefulness.

Items needed:

1. A cauldron with a nice little pile of burning herbs (slippery elm and sage would be nice, but sage will do), creating a respectable sized flame– you might want to use a small charcoal tablet also, just to keep things going

2. A black votive candle

3. A photo of the target– if this is not available, their signature or a name paper will have to do

4. A red flannel bag

5. Three blossoms from a thorny plant, preferably a thistle; or three thorns– which are just as effective

Carve the target’s name on the black spell candle, and sit it on your altar, near your cauldron. Light it– with glee and delight, knowing that you are lighting a flame beneath your enemy’s ass.

You will take their photo and, with the focused emotions you feel at this person and their actions, you will mark it, slash it, spit on it, stomp on it…or do something else even more dastardly to it, all the while maintaining the focus and intent of your actions. It’s imperative that you do not loose sight of your intentions.

Burn this image in your cauldron, amidst the herbs and flames.

When the fire has burned down, the black candle has burned itself out and everything has cooled down– except your emotions and will– deposit the ashes and remnants of the spell into the red flannel bag.

Then add the three blossoms or thorns to the bag, one at a time.

With the first blossom/thorn, say:

“The first I add to freeze your speech.”

With the second blossom/thorn, say:

“The second I add to halt your reach.”

With the third blossom/thorn, say:

“The third I add to spite your face,

That you may wallow in disgrace.”

Keep this bag in a safe and secret place, allowing the magic time to mature and ripen, that the target will feel the full effects.

Black Poppets

SL385277-1.gif picture by witch_of_endore

Mystery, gossip, fear, and foreboding…the Black Poppet’s legacy.  Black poppets are used for Cursing and Hexing.  This poppet is filled with the notorius goofer dust of hoodoo fame, a coffin nail and a black stone, with a pinch of graveyard dirt thrown in for good measure.  As with the other poppets, one side is clasped with a safety pin so that you may open it and add your target’s hair, fingernails, photo, signature, etc.

This is one of the most popular items at my site– along with his big brother.  He’s gone through a bit of a metamorphosis since his inception.  He’s sassy, no nonsense, empowering, and bound to be a conversation piece.

Magical Oils…Bubble, Bubble, Toil & Trouble :)

oils 1

http://ladyamythyst.webs.com/oilspotionspowders.htm

My oils are handcrafted, by me, in my home. These oils are created
taking magickal timing into consideration; including astrological
connections, moon phases, as well as intentions and energies involved.

The oils that I sell are not bottled in tiny apothecary bottles. These are large,
old-fashioned canning jars– pint sized and jam jars, meant to last a while and
to be used in earnest. Being a green witch, I enjoy the beauty of the
herbs and other ingredients shining through my large glass jars.

I personally use every item that I sell. These same jars of magickal oil fill
my own cupboard, and are used to dress my candles and complete my magick.

Below is a list of magickal oils you can find at my website:

Health & Healing Oil

This ointment is used to "dress" candles used for healing or to maintain continued good health.  Annoint a green candle with this oil for healing of the body; a yellow candle for healing of the mind; a red candle for the physical healing of the reproductive system– a yellow candle can be burned along with the red one for mental healing of sexual abuse victims.

Exorcism/Purification Oil

Annoint a black candle with this oil to exorcise those demons that are bothering you– whether the irritation is physical or mental.  Annoint a white candle with this oil and burn it to purify your physical space or your mental/physical state.  I’ve used this oil to exorcise entities haunting my home, and I’ve used it to exorcise people from my life who were causing problems.

Mars Astrological Oil

This ointment promotes courage, strength, aggression, sexual energy, healing after surgery, exorcisms, and defensive magick.  I’ve found this to be an especially effective and strong magickal tool, and I want to caution you that this oil can also banish.  Use it wisely.

Witches’ Oil

This is an "all purpose" oil which can be used to annoint the body prior to rituals or spell casting.  It can also be used to dress candles.

Psychic Oil

Annoint your third eye chakra with this oil before doing divination of any kind,  or annoint a lavendar candle to call up and strengthen your psychic powers.

Sex Oil

Carve your name and the name of the one you desire on a red candle; annoint it with this oil to ignite passion and lust.  Then stand back and be prepared for some fireworks!  This oil can be made to accomodate a monogamous couple, instilled with herbs to maintain fidelity.  If you wish, you can email me with your personal preferences.  We can work together to create a unique oil with the qualities that you desire.

Prosperity Oil

This oil is used to annoint candles for money magick.  It can also be used to annoint stones conducive to wealth and prosperity and carried in your purse or wallet.  It will enhance and draw the energies that stimulate the acquisition of money in many ways.

Summoning Powder

This powder does just what its name suggests– it summons someone to you.  If you are in possession of a piece of clothing belonging to the individual you wish to summon, particularly intimate apparell, sprinkle it with this powder.  You can also sprinkle this powder on a piece of correspondence you send to this person– although in this day and age of terrorism, I would be cautious about sending anything through the mail that has a powdery dust on it.

Black Cat Oil

Black cat oil is used to break bad spells and hexes, to attract the opposite sex, and to call in the spirits– benevolent, magickally oriented spirits.  The ingredients in black cat oil is slightly different to attract the opposite sex, so make sure that you select the correct pay pal button.

Four Thieves Vinegar

Four Thieves Vinegar is a crucial component in many banishing and commanding spells.  It can also be used to banish illness.  It’s reputed to drive away danger and rescue its user from disaster.

Graveyard Dirt

This item is exactly what its name implies– soil taken from the consecrated ground of a cemetery.  Graveyard dirt is a necessary ingredient in many hexing/cursing spells.  On the flip side, it is also the key ingredient in many benevolent spells, including those for health and healing.

Banishing Oil

Banishing oils are generally used in banishing spells, whether you’re trying to rid yourself of undesirable people, situations, habits, or things.  Just make sure that what you think you want banished, you really do– getting something back is much more work than making something go away.

Command & Compel Oil

"Commanding Oil" is generally used in binding spells– to get another to bend to your will and do what you want and to gain control of a situation.  This oil has a strong history in voodoo and New Orleans hoodoo culture and is used almost exclusively to exert your will over others.

Uncrossing Oil

This oil is most often used to remove hexes/curses placed upon you.  It’s also brought into service to turn bad luck around and is used in spells for just such results.

Warning

These oils/potions/powders are NOT meant to be ingested!  Most of these oils could be applied to the skin, but there may be an occasional potion that contains a skin irritant…so if in doubt, just don’t!
